Girard
A happy moment could only continue for only so long before something came upon it to interrupt from its peace. It came in the form of the minstrel choosing to ease from the embrace he had initiated between them. His arms eased away at first then his head lifted from where it was nestled between her neck and shoulder. When thought finally gave way to word, it was with only mild trepidation in speaking up. " The.. recent goings on here in Sarkotos.. there has been .. alot of undead risings. As much as I'm happy to have you home again.. I am not certain it is safe here anylonger. " It hadn't occured till that same moment to wonder or even ask if she had ran afoul of the undead during her trip home. " .. You didn't have troubles with the undead in Northern Sarkotos did you? " Of course if she had flown the whole way.. maybe she'd have had an easier time than most else she'd only taken to flight to surprise her minstrel. -d
Eva
Even as Girard pulled from the embrace, the petite Aasimar did not allow the distance to hinder her smile. Her wings loosened their turn about his body to let the space come between, all the while turning crystalline blue gazes to the face of her beloved. Love still shone there for him, in her sights as well as in the touch of her hand trailing its fingertips across his collar and towards right shoulder. The news stilled the hand's travel, letting it rest in place instead. "I have not heard or encountered much of undead in the time I've been gone.." Her eyes shifted towards the cottage before flicking back up to him with a touch of panic shivering a breath. "Is everyone here alright?" It was only like her to worry. -d-
Girard
" Its been.. interesting. " Said Girard, considering which matters were most important to bring up and those which were trivial. " Between the recent prison escapees meant for Shatter Island and the Undead controlled by a group calling themselves the Five.. the Heart has been busy. " He felt like something was being left out; truth was Girard simply didn't have all the facts nor all the answers. " I know enough that the undead problems are going to spread throughout the continent. The southern kingdoms will not be a safe place to combat them from. If at all.. " Though he'd drawn away from the embrace like her a hand found its way to touch along her arm as the words continued to come now and then. " I may be using these troubles as an .. excuse as well.. knowing how coop'd up you've been until you left to travel with the Ravens. I was thinking perhaps it is time we did travel. My old wanderlust is beginning to stir a little as it is...oh..and everyone seems to be well. " -d
Eva
'Interesting' was usually not the best word to describe something, as it was typically the go to word when one wished not to delve into negative things too deeply. Its use had Eva's head tipping, and a cascade of silvery blonde shifting its cool strands over the touch of Girard's fingers at her arm. The healer's eyes implored that he continue on, and he did, explaining more of the ongoings of Sarkotos. At mention of the southern lands being in danger, her expression surely held a pinch of worry and upset for the whole of the kingdoms surrounding. How awful a fate! With her mouth hung just so, Eva sighed then drew a soft breath. "Well.." Shifting her stance a bit, "... I'm glad everyone is alright." Then why was she frowning? "... maybe I should stay?" Fair brows rose in question. "Surely help will be needed in these parts." The poor thing paced a little. As much as it was in her nature to want to stay, to want to do the right thing and help--the truth of the matter was she liked the thought to the two of them traveling.. What to do?! -d-
Girard
She faced much the same quandry that had kept the Minstrel cottage-bound since the troubles began! Save for the multiple exceptions involved in leaving the cottage to investigate the Omens surronding the undead.. and many more triips to the home of Cathran to spend as much time as possible with Moonshadow. " We could.. do both.. " Save for his little fear of the goings on chance of affecting those like him.. and Moonshadow. " I've been wary of the troubles altogether.. I am not sure if the powers behind it are capable of.. manipulating those like.. Moonshadow and I. " Meaning those with an undead lineage flowing its way through their veins and any unforunate undead with sentience that happened to be around. " We can help in dealing with the undead themselves.. " Even if Girard still wanted nothing more than to stay away from the undead pawns of Necromancy. Their usual undead foes were mindless and uncontrolled.. and he was missing those days rather greatly. It wouldn't stop his attempts to help.. especially with Evangeline by his side. " No matter how strong I may be I am uncertain I can resist the same control being used on the hordes of mobile corpses. " -d
Eva
She listened closely to all he had to say, and stilled her pacing nearly halfway through. Uncertainty showed itself in her stance at that point, too, though. Arms hugged in at herself with palms cupping each, opposite bicep. The most of that lost feeling came when he mentioned the possible effects on he and the babe--because it truly did leave Evangeline with a choice to be had. There was no way in all of Arith and the heavens above it that she'd deliberately chance losing Girard to this ongoing, let alone Moonshadow. Having curled her lip in between teeth for a still moment, a nod came then. "Then we leave here." Quite simply, her family -- Girard and Moonshadow -- needed her. It was of more importance than the Ravens or any one deed in Sarkotos. Having spent so much of her life following protocol and duty, it was about time her heart chimed in on matters. -d-
Girard
Try as the man might surprise held obvious sway over his expression when Evangeline came to her decision. A decision that required the Minstrel to try and be earnestly perceptive in how he viewed his Intended's expression as the words were taken in. Those words were not the sort to be taken lightly - for they were meant to protect her family - no matter his own strength Girard knew he could go against this now that his fear of what could happen had been so willingly admitted to her. " I guess.. I should .. we should.. pack for cold climes. " Even were it not for his suggestion to head north.. winter was coming with only a chilly autumn promised to the continent save those lands cloest to the Islands of the southern regions. " We can still do good against the evils of the Five as we travel. " He had a suspcion that even travel hastened by traveling the fringe between Prime and Shadow would not save them from all the Five's minions. " I want us safe.. but you know as well as I we can not leave others to suffer. " She may have been the Healer guided by her heart to lessen suffering, but she had brought out the best in him.. and it showed in his doings, his thoughts, even in how the minstrel carried himself. Draw the ire of those who thought he belittled his noble-line. -d
Eva
There came a nod then, hearing of packing--even if she truly had little to pack in the first place. Most of her belongings were not for colder climates, and there had been next to nothing in namesakes or baubles that the healer had toted from Zyon to Sarkotos in the first place. It was, in some way, nice.--at least in an instant like this one. "Where will we go?" The question fell towards him with a look, one still based in a bit of worry. "Wherever it is, I would hope we can get there quickly?" And by quickly, she likely meant by his means of travel, not walking, riding or even flying! ".. and what of Cathran?" Now she seemed a little frantic. "Moonshadow adores Cathran." -d-
Girard
" I have been... considering Alzorc. " A place most easily reached by those who knew of the rune-scribed portal located within the Obsidian Heart Inne. He knew some that thought it merely a decoration brougt down from the far-North. " Her.. beau has been considering much the same as I have .. that the undead would have a difficult time in the frigid north. They plan to head north as well.. with or without us by the word of the horned fellow. " Meaning Cathran's beau again.. try as he might Girard found it easy to tease the man despite his not even being in their presence right then. " If we procur clothing and gear for the cold we should find it hospitable.. especially among those in Fenris and Kana's Hall. " Girard made a point of mentioning Kana rather than solely Fenris.. knowing as he did that one of Evangeline's few instances in being near the man that the Zorcan had easily tossed Girard across the barroom of the Inne. -d
Eva
"Good. Moonshadow would have been devastated had Cathran.. not... " Pause. ..... Blink. "... did you just say.. Alzorc?" Her thought process and words drew out as disbelief filtered across her face. Eva ran out of words for a moment, leaving Girard to fill the quiet in with talk of warm clothing, A'kana... and Fenris. She might have been reigned back in if it hadn't been for that last name. "Fenris.. The Bloodied." Finally, her lungs managed to take a breath, shallow as it may have been. "The one who goes on killing sprees, draws in Rumerian ire enough to destroy the Inne and nearly laid you out for good? That Fenris? Because if it's a different Fenris, I'd be much more obliged!" The pacing started up all over again! -d-
Girard
The pause he expected; even the negative reaction he had known would come about when the suggestion was put forth. It seemed plain to his eyes that it would take a good deal of convincing to see Eva join him in the North. " Do you trust me to know what I'm doing in choosing such a place for us - for our Family - Eva? " Came the first question before he even dared to speak of Fenris. " I cannot speak of The Bloodied just as I cannot speak of myself when afflicted by too much negative energy. I am just as much a man to be feared as the Bloodied in those times. " It occured just then that.. due to Travas she may well have never been told about how differently negative energy affected the Minstrel than the outright pain and etrophy it caused in those not tainted by Undeath. " and.. I am Rumerian.. still he, Kana, and I? We're friends. I'd no sooner turn my back on them than I would you. " -d
Eva
Of course he'd lead with a question like that. Girard knew full well that Evangeline trusted him and his judgment. But this was The Bloodied they were talking about, and she'd heard and seen enough (even if it wasn't much) of what he could do. The answer to his question came with a movement to say something, and then stilling. She sighed and watched down. No, Eva did not fully know of what Girard could become, though she was not completely naive to it. But there were betterments made with him. Could the same be said for Fenris? It did not feel possible, in the least. Finally... "I am not living in the Hall where they do." Eva shook her head adamantly. "We go there, fine. But no matter of trust in you will make me trust Fenris." Fenris would have to gain her trust the old fashioned way, and with time, but Eva didn't really see the seven-foot-tall Zorcan giving two coppers in that effort. "So long as we are safe and away from this, and you and Moonshadow are well--then I'll go." She hadn't said she'd like it. -d-
Girard
Try as he might he couldn't help the small smile of pride in hearing her speak her mind as she was without being cowed in by her trust in him or any other argument. She was a strong woman; no in muscle but in spirit. And by the Gods he loved her for that and many other reasons. She recieved a nod of acceptance from Girard who certainly wasn't going to try talking her out of her decision. Trust came with difficulty sometimes; it did strike him that trust came equally as hard the natives of Alzorc. " Once the Five are dealt with.. I'd prefer we take up residence where you would be happy. If not Alzorc.. just.. someplace you feel free. " That she feel safe and free.. uncaged.. it kept in the back of his mind. That even with him her confinement had continued with him turning a blind-eye to it much of the time. " But.. we will be safer the closer to the Stygian Embrace that we are.. try as I might not to be tied to the nation of my birth.. I am Rumerian. " And he needn't say what the Zorcan thought of Rumerians. -d
