It simply isn't logical that you can carry and wear every single item you've ever picked up as loot on adventures, or bought in the Emporium, so there is a magic item slot system. This is a VERY fair system too, I've allowed a great number of items to be used and carried, as well as allowing you to choose what mundane items you can have so please, no bitching. Check other systems and you'll see I am overly generous.
This slot system only works for magical items, so feel free to have waterskins, rations, non-magical rope and the like in your pack but remember IT MUST BE LISTED ON YOUR DOSSIER TO COUNT!
Here are our magic item slots, be careful of limits, what is listed here is what you can have with you unless you've gained some special loot or otherwise:
Primary Weapon:
Secondary Weapon:
Ranged Weapon:
Hidden Weapons: (2) Something like a dagger, or a weapon hidden into an instrument, or a blade in the sole of your shoe. You may have up to two hidden weapons listed.
1 Extra Attack Item: Such as a special arrow, entangling bomb, wand.
1 Extra Defense Item: Such as an item that absorbs dmg, or a shield.
ONE ITEM PER SLOT
Head/Headband: Such as headband, hat, helmet, circlet, crown.
Face/Eyes: Such as eye lenses, glasses, goggles, masks, monocles.
Neck: Such as amulets, medallions, torcs, necklaces.
Torso/Body: Such as shirt, vest, vestments, cassocks or tabards.
Armor: Such as armor, or robe, or armored ink.
Cloak/Shoulders: Such as a cloak, cape, pauldrons or mantle.
Waist: Such as a belt or scarf, or girdle.
Legs: Such as pants, tights, stockings.
Arms/Wrist: Such as bracers, bracelets, armbands, gauntlets, manacles, shackles, vambraces, and other items that can worn over the wrists.
Hands: Such as gloves, gauntlets, wrappings or one glove.
Feet: Such as sandals, boots, shoes, slippers
Body Mod: Tattoos, brands, scarifications, piercings. You may have as many as you like but only one body modification is active at a time.
Rings: Only two can be used at a time. You may wear as many as you can fit on your fingers, but only two magical rings can work at one time. Please only list the two rings whose magic you are using, or somehow mark which two are in effect for your adventure.
Consumables: (5) You may have up to five types of items in your consumables inventory (potions, etc), and as many of each type as you can logically carry.
Magical Pack Items: (5) A standard issue adventurer's pack will hold up to five magical or wondrous items. This does not include any non-magical items such as waterskins, extra clothing, rations, etc.
Books: (3) You have three slots for books on your dossier.
Backpack of Holding (10) A backpack of holding gives you 10 more slots in your magical pack, it replaces your normal pack for one that holds more in an extradimensional space. It must be purchased from the Emporium or a Crafter.
Scroll Case (5) A scroll case holds 5 scrolls and keeps them safe from any type of harm that may befall them. If you do not own a scroll case, scrolls go into consumables, or pack items. It must be purchased. Only those with magical or psionic affinity can use scrolls.
Bodice of Holding (5) A bodice of holding is a LOOT ITEM only, and if found can hold 5 magical items (or mundane).
Minor Potion Sheath This can hold three extra potions.
OTHER CARRYING ITEMS:
You may own as many sacks and bags as you can logically carry, if you go to extremes a DM will talk to you. You may also own bags of holding (must be purchased), but only ONE backpack of holding can be used "officially" to hold hold your magical gear.
IF YOU OWN A MOUNT:
Saddlebags (8gp) - Can be purchased and used to hold loot you pick up/find or your own mundane items of which there is no limit save for your own common sense. Saddlebags logically hold as much as that mount is able to carry. Please be logical. If you have something listed on your dossier in your saddlebags, and your mount is nowhere near you, don't attempt to pull it out of your ass suddenly.
Why Slots?
Please understand why we have slots, we are not trying to squash your character in any way, but we also know some people lack a bit of logic and will deck their character out in far more items than they could ever logically use. Remember, a character may carry or possess as many items as he wishes. However, additional items beyond those in the slots listed above have no effect.
Switching Out Items
It will take one round (if you are in combat) to switch an item out that is NOT listed as active. Meaning, if you are using a Ring of Firebolts, and want to pull a Ring of Stunning out of your pack and use that instead, you will use up a turn finding the ring, and exchanging it. Then, on your next round you may use the new item you've "equipped".
Some items can be worn or carried without taking up a slot on a character's body. The description of an item indicates when an item has this property, it is quite rare.
Limits
• The most DEFENSE you can have is +20, +30 or +40 DEF based on your Armor Type.
• The most extra hit points (health) you can have is 30. This includes items, loot, potions, wands, spells, etc.
