Update 2.18
Greetings, OH Members:
I hope you all are doing as well as can be. I want to encourage you all to get together, have fun together, open chats and let's mingle! Opening up public chats right now as people are getting out of college and school in some places allows us to recruit. While I will never cajole or beg you into opening recruiting establishments, there would be nothing bad about gaining new blood in our group and expanding, and giving us all more players to associate with and write with, but we can't do that unless we are out there, roleplaying where folks can see us. Not necessarily recruit places, but the inne, archery field, markets, lake, park, anything and everything you can think of. Do missions in public if possible!
Remember sometime this month, our Proboards will be changing. They are upgrading to v5, and while all our information will still be there, aesthetically it might look like crap until we work out all the pretty coding and things again!
We are going to start doing some activities that are NOT combat based, such as balls, parties, gatherings, religious festivals and the like. We will begin with this Sunday's Spring Dance. I will send you information about it this week, but please mark your calendars. IF this Sunday is just a horrible terrible, no good day to do it, then reply back to me right now because if the majority of you can't be there....we can change the date!
Don't forget, today is Sunday. If you have crafting skills it's time for you to ask for your crafting points. This is also the end of the month, so if you have skills that give you special things such as gold once a month, that should be done today, or this week!
NOTE: The IC Newsletter will be going out within the next week, or two. If you have anything, articles, poems, pictures, advertisements, gossip, rumors, etc you wish to be put into it, get it to me by Saturday, the 11th.
TOURNAMENT!
The upper tier of the tournament will have a winner this week, but for the lower tier we have a LOWER TIER CHAMPION! Congratulations, Isoba Kgosi, you have battled your way to the top and we are all very proud of you! Well done to everyone who participated as well, thank you for making this a success.
First Place: Isoba Kgosi (isobakgosi)
Second Place: Cherith d'Avilon (tesarikone)
Third Place: Holly Belle Katane V (onyxdalliance)
Isoba Kgosi, High Impact Champion!
FROM THE TREASURY MOD
Howdy folks. I hate to do this to you all, but I have to add a wee bit of extra work to your CP requests every week. Instead of just saying "Sending in for CP" or what have you, please let me know how many you're getting. I know most of you just get the standard 10, but I can't remember off the top of my head who gets 12, or in the rare case of some of you getting 5. Also, and this is for your own good in case something goes wrong (ie: I try to update things when someone's already in the roster editing and I don't realize), if you could put a total that you should have after your increase it'd be good to have. This is because I noticed someone whose request had been processed had less than 10 CP and hadn't requested any crafting in the meantime, so clearly something went wrong there. This step isn't necessary but it will help me correct things like that if they happen again. The amount of CP you're getting, however, I'll have to insist upon. Also helpful: Character name, somewhere in there. I tend to look that up before SN since it's easier for me to spot for whatever reason.
So! To summarize:
Required: How many CP you're getting (and to what skill if you have multiples)
Optional (but a good idea): Character name and total CP after the addition.
Thanks! Andy
GRAPPLE
Grappling rules have been clarified, and hopefully even I can understand them now, ha! The only "change" that was made (it was unclear before) is that when it is the Grappled person's turn THEY do damage, not the Grappler. I admit I failed miserably proctoring using a grapple and I ask for both of my combatant's forgiveness for misunderstanding the rules. The "updated" rules are below as well as on the site. I also have a few Grapple based skills in the works so look for those hopefully in the next month.
-----Grapple........
- Grapple: This special attack allows for you to grab your opponent and pin them while you subdue them. The only damage done during a grapple AFTER the initial grab is Trait and Weapon Damage if reasonable and applicable (I.E.: Small one handed weapons like daggers or unarmed techs).
All defense (including skills, armor, etc) is lost to both parties as they roll and pin one another. Only skills or enchantments/improvements that specifically say they are for a grapple are allowed to be used.
When two people are grappling, they can only deal with one another. They cannot engage in other actions including attacks upon other opponents, healing allies, etc.
The one who is in control of the grapple (called "Grappler" in these rules), can break it and stop it at any time.
Step by Step, How It Is Done:
#1) Grappler rolls a strike on the Target. If the Strike Hits, they grab the target and roll a normal damage hit, including rank dice, weapon damage, normal skills and trait points.
#2) On Target's turn once grappled, both target and grappler roll contested rolls.
Grappler: 1d20 + Strength vs Target: 1d20 + Strength. Highest wins.
--Grappler Wins = Target still held, target may then roll weapon damage (if applicable-remember only one handed smaller weapons, or unarmed apply) and add in trait damage against the grappler.
--Target Wins = They are free from the grapple and have 2 options. The first is to simply move away then make their next action, the second is to pin their attacker and become the grappler (meaning they get rank dice roll as stated in #1 above). If they choose to pin their attacker then the rolls are reversed from before and it continues. If they choose to break away, they get a single action (attack, heal, etc) and roll normally their rank dice/trait/weapon. Strike is needed, as this is a normal attack.
--Tied Rolls = Nobody is free, but nobody takes damage. You are still grappled, and it becomes the Grappler's turn.
#3) If grapple continues, on Grappler's next turn Grappler may roll weapon damage (if applicable) and add in trait.
Quick Summary
-Each turn after grapple begins, those grappling apply trait damage and weapon each, if applicable, to their foe. No strike is needed during the grapple. Only on the initial pin AND if you win a contested strength roll and opt to pin your attacker do you get a rank dice roll.
-Once a grapple is broken, for 1 full round neither party can go back for another grapple. You may not break a grapple just to go back into one in an effort to always get the maximum strike. You either enter one and keep it, or don't. There will be no in-out-in-out-in.
LAST MONTH FOR SPRING BONUS!
This is still going on! Any new character (remember, each player is only allowed at the most 7 PC's unless you've been given a freebie) will be allowed to start with 35xp, 2000gp, and 1 Healing Potion (10hp). This allows a person to start at Topaz Adept with a class AND a profession.
If you recruit a new PLAYER (not just a new char from a current player) into OH, you will be given a bonus of 10xp instead of the usual 5xp. And remember, you don't get any xp from "recruiting" yourself!
You are welcome to open recruiting rooms, but we don't focus on such things so that is just if YOU want to do it! I sometimes open an OOC Recruiting Room just so I can answer questions about the game.

UPDATES, PATCHES, CLARIFICATIONS
--1. Status Debuff Revisited
After some debate with a few different folks, I've decided to yet again clarify Status Debuff. NO you cannot take this with Versatility, but you may be a primary or secondary healer, monk, priest or druid and take it. It is ONLY for Healers, Priests, Druids and Monks. You may not take Status Debuff with any other profession, but you may take it if you are that profession primary or secondary. This is my final adjustment. Thank you.
--2. "Once per adventure" vs "Once per combat" vs "Once per day""
Reminding you, things marked once per adventure cannot be used in your high impact spars. These are adventure/mission/quest skills not one on one sparring skills. If it is marked once per combat, or once per day, or has special circumstances within combat then they can be used in sparring. Everything is updated on crafting and emporium pages, inkantation, etc... for instance, here's a big couple of handfuls:
Ethereal - Once per combat.
Reflecting - Once per day.
Punishing - Once per combat.
Frightful - Once per combat.
Aversion - Once per combat.
Arcing - Once per combat.
Lucky - Once per combat.
Learning - One target, used once per combat.
Ominous - Fear effect once per combat.
Blinding - Once per combat.
Flurry of Blows - Once per combat.
Calloused - Once per adventure.
Natural Wall - Once per day.
Mighty Wallop - Once per combat
Glyph of Restoration - Once per day
--3. Wilden, and Daeva and Half-Orcs, OH MY!
Yep, yep. New races.
Wilden is not quite the same as the wilden in pathfinder, but very similar. Instead of being a total plant creature like in PF, wilden is more of a fey with plantlike characteristics so it would be a humanoid with maybe leaves in their hair, you are free to be creative. You could do a fey creature with wooden bones, or with leaves in the hair that change color with the seasons, or something cool like that.
Daeva is finally written out and is Maria's race, you are reincarnated over and over and over keeping the memories of your last life.
Half-Orcs, well do I need to explain what they are? These races will be getting some special skills in this next month so watch for those but they are able to be taken as races now.
--4. Dominate Arrow Update
Dominate Arrow now works on opponents equal or lower ranked. Before, it only worked on lower ranked.
--5. Improved Rezz vs True Resurrection
Changed, changed, changed....since they were in effect the same thing! Now they are different!
Improved Rezz : Once per day you may rezz another creature without any loss to XP or Dice. It still counts as a normal rezz, and the person rezzed loses one of their five OH rezzes.
Prerequisites: Rezz the Dead AND Sapphire Rank
True Resurrection: This allows a priest to bring somebody back from the dead three times a week with no loss of dice or xp, or any loss of one of their rezzes. This can even be done if the body has been destroyed.
Prerequisites: Priest (Primary), Obsidian Rank
--6. Critical Failures
Jake has clarified with me about critical fails and I'm passing on the knowledge to you. First thing is, that if you roll your 1d6 and it cannot apply to your character (Proctor's Call) - reroll. For instance, if you are unarmed, you cannot "drop" your weapon, so reroll. If you are fighting one on one, you cannot hit an ally, so reroll. Be logical.
Also, if you drop your weapon and you have two weapons in hand, it ALWAYS is your primary weapon. You cannot choose which weapon you drop. Crit Fails are terrible things that happen, and so if given the choice you will always drop the primary weapon in your hand.
--7. New Skills
These will be added tonight or tomorrow. The descriptions are already up on our Patch thread.

Extra Credit: This week's extra credit is to roleplay for at least 30-45 minutes with a character you have rarely or never interacted with and send me the log, labeled "Extra Credit" and I'll give you a bonus of 5XP. If you roleplay in public (make sure you c&p the header of the chat so I know) I'll give you an extra 1,000gp as well. You never know, your character might find a new friend!
Note: Usually extra credit is one per player, but in this case, you may earn this for EVERY CHARACTER you have, but it all must be done before the next update. I reserve the right to cut xp/gp if your log seems too short!
Be sure to tell me who it is you are rping with (esp if it's in a crowd), and how long the rp lasted. I will only give XP to the person sending me the log, so if both of you want the XP, you both need to send me the log and state clearly at the top who you are rping with, and that it is for extra credit.
