Greetings, OH Members:
We've got a lot of stuff to talk about this week, and it will mean that many of you need to doublecheck your skills, so please make sure you do that ASAP. You all must understand that as our game grows, and as we attempt to make sure everything is as fair as possible for every class, profession, and race, that changes and tweaks will occur. It's in our OOC Rules after all:
m. "Patches are Inevitable" - In a game of this sort, that is going from a group of minds to gameplay, it is inevitable that patches will happen. Tweaks will be made, nerfing of abilities and skills, and changes to how things are done to make sure the game is fair, fun, and simple enough for people to enjoy. Please accept the tweaking with consideration for the big picture of a fair game for everyone.
So my friends, I ask you to please consider the game as a whole before you get angry because you may have to switch out a skill, or you don't meet the prerequisites. I will explain more later, but I believe the Versatility skill has been used to do some things that are illogical and I am fixing that this week.
Note that within this next month, our Proboards will be changing. They are upgrading to v5, and while all our information will still be there, aesthetically it might look like crap until we work out all the pretty coding and things again!
The High Impact Championship is underway! Be sure if you are involved, that you get your first spars in as soon as you can. Any information needed regarding the championship need to be sent to A (temptofblack).
Don't forget, today is Sunday. If you have crafting skills it's time for you to ask for your crafting points. This is also the end of the month, so if you have skills that give you special things such as gold once a month, that should be done today, or this week!
VERSATILITY SURE IS VERSATILE...
...But perhaps not as versatile as you imagine! You still need to use common sense. In other words, if you see a skill that belongs to a magic sort of person, say the Prerequisites say "Mage", you can't just snap that up as a Versatility skill and have no magical prowess of your own. Or some of the particular healing skills, how can you take a healing skill of these sorts without being any sort of healer? I've made it SUPER EASY for you!!
If you go to the skill list right now, you will find that under every skill that you can take with the Versatility Skill there is a new marking system beneath the skill itself, marked in GREEN. If the skill can be taken with Versatility, then you will find a GREEN V notating that for you.
This means, for you humans, you need to look through your list of skills and make sure that you have met all the prerequisites for the skill. If you have NOT and you have a skill you should not have, then you may switch it out for FREE..... only catch is that you need to inform scaleschange & tesarikone of your switch-out.
If you see a mistake, or have a question, or disagree with something - please come talk to me. I can't promise I will change anything I've already changed, but there's no harm in discussing things.
Here's some examples:
Alchemy : You are skilled in alchemy and potion making. You must have this skill in order to create potions for use and/or for sale. See our Crafting information for in-depth instructions.
Prerequisite: Magical Affinity OR Healer Profession
(V - Magical Affinity)
Arcane Image : A spellcaster can become pure magical energy, allowing them to take no damage from any one physical attack during combat
Prerequisites: Arcane Class
COMBAT
(V - Magical/Psionic Affinity)
Incite to Anger : You are able to incite one target to rage against you, and only you, through words and/or actions causing them to only attack you for the duration of the combat or until you state you are not using the skill anymore.
Prerequisites: Knight, Fighter, Brawler, Charmer, Swordmaster OR Rogue
(V)
Paladin's Chant : A holy knight makes a chant to his deity calling forth their power to grant allies of their matching alignment a +2 defense for the remainder of that combat. This may only be once per adventure. Only one chant can be up at a time (ie: these don't stack if more than 1 paladin uses it).
Prerequisites: Paladin, AND Sapphire Rank

IT'S STILL SPRING!
This is still going on! Any new character (remember, each player is only allowed at the most 7 PC's unless you've been given a freebie) will be allowed to start with 35xp, 2000gp, and 1 Healing Potion (10hp). This allows a person to start at Topaz Adept with a class AND a profession.
If you recruit a new PLAYER (not just a new char from a current player) into OH, you will be given a bonus of 10xp instead of the usual 5xp. And remember, you don't get any xp from "recruiting" yourself!
You are welcome to open recruiting rooms, but we don't focus on such things so that is just if YOU want to do it! I sometimes open an OOC Recruiting Room just so I can answer questions about the game.

UPDATES, PATCHES, CLARIFICATIONS
--1. Crafting with Special Materials
The extra 1CP tossed in to use special materials has been revoked. It does not follow the rules of crafting points (1CP per 1000gp) and was causing some folks to be confused when they were figuring out how many CP to use, so we have simply removed it. If you want to craft with special materials, you must pay FULL price for that material for each item you make. That is all.
--2. Status Debuff
Status Debuff is now PRIMARY. This means, if you've taken it with Versatility, you can switch it out for something else for free. It has also been opened up to Monks.
--3. Immunities
It has been discussed, and decided that if an item, armor, weapon, etc states you must have a certain immunity to use, bear, wear, hold it you must have IMMUNITY. You cannot slide by with any type of adaptation medallion, or something that keeps you warm in the cold, or cool in the heat. So if that cool weapon of rimefire ice says you need Cold Immunity to wield, you need Cold Immunity.
Note: If we have discussed this in the past, I realize that this is a different ruling. Talk to me so we can work this out, talk to me before you get all riled up about it, I have a solution.
--4. Shadow Form
Shadow Form has been clarified. We are sorry for the misunderstanding.
Shadow Form : You are able to take the form of wispy incorporeal shadows once per day, for as long as you wish. This means you are incorporeal for all purposes of damage and evasion. Mundane weapons cannot hit you in this form unless they are enchanted in some way to hit incorporeal, allowing you to evade one physical attack per combat.
DEFENSE
--5. Arcane Image
Arcane Image is different than Shadow Form. You become pure magical energy. You cannot be hit with a physical weapon, even if it has some sort of Phantom enchant or skill to strike incorporeal. Only magic will hit someone in Arcane Image form.
--6. "Once per adventure" vs "Once per combat"
Things marked once per adventure cannot be used in your high impact spars. These are adventure/mission/quest skills not one on one sparring skills.
--7. Spell Reflects
If a spell is reflected, YES, the original caster gets a saving throw as if they were the original target.

Strike Boost or Strike Lessen
You are able to boost your ally's strike, or lessen your enemy's strike.
Crystal and Topaz: Constant +1 / -1
Amber and Sapphire: Constant +2 / -2
Emerald and Ruby: Constant +3 / -3
Obsidian: Constant +4 / -4
AoE Strike Boost or Strike Lessen
You are able to boost your allying group's strike, or lessen your enemy's strikes for one round of combat.
