Update 2.05
Greetings, OH Members:
Good evening to you all and I hope you've had an eventful past week. I've enjoyed the various quest series and storylines going on, you all are very creative and fun to write with! Plus, I truly want to thank those of you who are extra helpful to me in various ways from helping me come up with NPC's without much payment for it, to helping my poor old brain remember things while we game together.
Our recruiting bonus month is over, so people who join OH now will start at the beginning unless they are transfers. I'd love to see some new players, but as always, we do not push for recruiting or force you to spend time in recruit halls. If people join they'll join because of word of mouth, or seeing us roleplay.
Don't forget, today is Sunday. If you have crafting skills it's time for you to ask for your crafting points. Also, it's the beginning of the month, some of your skills allow for rolls for gold and such!

VALENTINE'S DAY CONTEST
Simple contest! Write a poem of six lines or more in praise of someone else's character (in other words, not your own!). Don't give the person's name in the poem, and when they are all turned in we'll post them on the message board and see if people can figure out who the poems are talking about! You can use any poetry form, rhymed or unrhymed, just try to make it flow! It can be funny, or serious.
-- State somewhere on the email who the poem is talking about, just not in the actual poem.
-- You can submit multiple poems (up to five per person), but they have to be about different characters.
-- Each poem that has followed the directions will receive 1xp, 100gp.
-- We'll vote for the best poem as a group, as well as allow folks to try and figure out who the poem is about.
Winner gets: 5xp, 1000gp

You don't have to do anything fancy, it could be as simple as opening the inne, or having an archery match, or if you are up for it, a mission in a public room.

UPDATES, PATCHES, CLARIFICATIONS
--1. All skills have been clarified to say "STRIKE" or "DAMAGE". If there happens to be any that missed my going over them that say something adds to attack, please let me know and remember that unless a skill specifically says it adds to strike, then it adds to your damage.
--2. Look over the new armor and weapon enchantments, a ton have been added! This week we will be discussing HOW MUCH enchantment can be on one piece of armor or weapon, so look out for that soon.
Here's some examples:
Ominous
An ominous weapon trails a shadowy haze behind every stroke, and moans a menacing dirge in battle. It gives a +3 to Intimidate checks during combat, and on a successful hit, causes the creature to be stricken with fear for one round if they fail a Willpower Save of DC15. This power can be used once per target during any given combat.
Countering
This enchantment gives a bonus ONLY when you are making a counterattack through use of one of the counter skills, giving an extra +2 DMG if a successful counter attack is made. This can only be put on melee weapons.
Reflective
This shield seems like a mirror. Its surface is completely reflective. Once per adventure, it can be called on to reflect a spell back at its caster.
--3. When using the Coat of Arms skill, only one can be in effect at a time like some other skills of that same kind.
--4. Please look over the loot slot system again if you aren't sure how it works. It is marked clearly how much of each item you can have, such as 2 rings. The body slots are one loot piece per body slot.
--5. As everyone knows, we do not keep up with your exact positions like what happens in d&d, but we do still need to be aware of certain distances, and whether ranged or melee combat can go on. From now on, if you are attacked with a ranged attack you may only counter attack with a ranged attack. If you are attacked with a melee attack, then you may counter with a melee attack. Ranged to ranged, melee to melee counter attacks.
--6. Speaking of distances, feel free to ask the DM how far away things are to you. In some cases, it will take your turn that round to reach your destination, in other situations you will be able to cross the distance AND attack or make a move. Just, if in doubt, always ask the DM!
--7. Vorpal Weapon vs. Fortified Armor
Vorpal Weapon: A vorpal weapon bypasses all defenses of a subject if a natural 20 is rolled, as long as the strike allows a hit. It is defeated by the "Fortified" armor enchantment.
Fortified Armor: This armor has been fortified in the vital areas in such a way that it cannot be defeated with a natural 20 Strike from a Vorpal weapon. If someone rolls a natural 20 Strike with a Vorpal weapon, they are able to bypass defenses, but with this enhancement their armor does not become defeated. Skills that bypass armor still work.
