Ankar: She listened, though a white brow rose when he said he needed a
favor. She didn't like doing favors for people, it took her away from her own
studies. But, she liked Dae well enough, so she listened him out. He'd hear
soft laughter when he suggested that she might actually be involved in
protecting someone. *I am afraid I will be unavailable during the time you
are doing your combat.* Well, it was true, she was always unavailable no
matter what time it might be! She was a spellslayer, she could wield six swords at one time! But, that was for protecting her ken and kena, and the leypoint. Too much work to do all that for others. Crafting potions, now that was something
that benefitted her. *Shrinking potions? I can do that. When do you need them by?*
Daemian Berazalle: ::He bowed his head in thanks of her answer, a warm smile
now spreading across his lips as he lifted his head:: You have my thanks. I
need them as soon as they could possibly be made. I don't know when it is
I'll be called upon and I'd like to make sure I have them at a moment's
notice. Along with a hypo pistol. If you have one, I'll pay double it's
worth to help you in replacing your own.
Carden: A murmur of conversation with his companion had the less than
living creature scurrying off while he took the steps required to send
himself into this inne. Long practiced actions and thought went in to pushing
the black-clad, pallid man in and barward. Already well on his way to the bar
a pause in motions ending all of a sudden as he paid a glance over the
interior to the familiar presence of.. knowledge, or was it power? They were
all too easy to confuse in this day and age after all. A gloved hand lifted,
rubbing at stubble at never quite went away without far more work than he
cared to give it. " ..Hrm. " His eyes quite clearly settled on the two
holding their conversation, a rather one sided one if not in on the wavelength. " .. To
think the Leypoint lacking because the 'ken are in a bar.. " Quite a nice
presumption, no.. really.
Ankar: *I do have a hypo-pistol, and I can craft the potions tonight
and send them, and the hypo-pistol to you. Will you give me 1500 for the
hypo-pistol and the two potions?* She tilted her head, a brow lifting again.
Her attention pulled towards the new entrant merely curious, until the man murmured
about the leypoint. She blinked a moment, then spoke so that all could hear
in their minds, *Even magiken need a drink every now and again. I know,
surprising isn't it, but I have been told - though I do not truly believe it - that
breaks in study and guarding help one's concentration. Who the hell are you?*
She smiled.
Carden: They always did come with a bite didn't they, came the
thought paired but a hint of a grin. He had a very particular way of
introducing himself when dealing with their kind if he cared to have the name
given actually be committed to memory for a particularly long stay. " It could be.. if I did
not have a keen memory of one buying an inne just for that reason. " Was that
the reason? He really could not quite recall. " Carden Blacke, former
allegiant of T'risk Xun Tesarik. " It did tend to be a useful sort of
introduction when he happened to be in a leypoint, this was not .. yet such a
circumstance. This was premature.
Daemian Berazalle: ::He tilted his head at the intrusion to his conversation,
a look given to Shroud as if an apology for the intrusion. His gaze drifted
to the newcomer, a slight sniff given to the air, checking to see if the
fellow triggered any faint memories. He did nothing more to respond to his
presence than to give a slight nod at his introudction. He checked his
speech for the moment::
Ankar: Big green eyes widened even bigger, T'risk... kena of her
creators if her memory served her right, and of course it did. There was a
look upon her face that changed hearing he'd been allegiant to a Tesarik, a
slight smile and a bit of respect that very, very few got from such a creature as the
magiken. *It is a pleasure. My creators were ken and kena to T'risk. I am
Ankar Tesarik, Roka and Rakal's creation. You did not choose to become neo?*
She glanced to Dae and nodded, she could carry on two conversations with ease.
*1500 then?* Said just to Dae's mind.
Carden: This proved something of a surprise even to Mister Blacke,
who could not quite decide what expression to put forth and chose simply not
to give one at all. " I was aware of Roka and Rakal, I do not believe I ever
found the chance to converse with them during my time in the Republic. " The
query of not choosing to become neo-magiken did bring a somewhat sad
expression into place. " I am afraid T'risk made a choice that did not allow
the oppurtunity of becoming neo. " It did not surprise too much that she was unaware of
the transformation T'risk had undergone, he suspected none of the Tesariks
were all that aware of what he considered a grand mistake on the part of a
once Fairspirit.
Daemian Berazalle: ::He gave a nod of assent to the quoted price that Shroud
had spoken, a soft smile given as well:: That is more than a fair price in
my mind. More than fair. ::He had come prepared to pay more, having
seperated two thousand amongst four sets of five sacks. He unhitched three,
setting them on the table before her:: Fifteen Hundred, in full.
Ankar: She reached over, placing her hand upon the payment, then
allowed it to disappear with a nod. Then her hand pressed to the table again
then rose, and her hypo-pistol appeared, which was then slid over to him.
Ankar: *Did she? I was not aware that she had used the birthing
chambers in the Republic.* Odd, something she wasn't aware of? She smiled to
Dae, even winked, then looked back over at the former allegiant.
DaemianBerazalle: ::He smiled to her, returning the wink and placed the hypo
pistol inside his quiver of crossbow bolts, for lack of a better place right
now. He looked to the stranger then, nodding slightly to him:: Greetings .
. . Daemain Berazalle, by name.
Carden: Truly the current Tesariks were indeed unaware of what had
occured a sad thing to lose kena to infection. " She did not.. unforunately
she chose to accept a transformation unrelated to the Magiken and now she is
unrelated to them. " A strange series of words to have strung together. A
sort of distraction came about with the fact that the other occupant of
Ankar's table made himself known. Carden did not appear to have noticed him
at all, or to be more specific had considered him beneath his notice altogether. "
.. I do not believe I have addressed you, if I have mistakenly given you such
an impression.. "
Ankar: Hana brought a pot over to Ankar's table and refilled her cup
of caffar, which really had not had much out of it, but it was again
steaming. Ankar nodded to the newly hired tendress, and glanced back over to
Carden. *She... * She shook her head slowly. *She transformed into something that was
not magiken? Anathema! Traitor!* She seemed too shocked to even continue, her
mouth falling agape even though no words had come from them. Her milky white
cheeks took on a rose hue, then she lifted a hand and swept her white curls
out of her face and tilted her nose up just a tad. *Hmph.*
DaemianBerazalle: Take it as you will . . . ::He spoke softly in response,
the matter already over and done with in his eyes. He'd done what was
proper, if nothing more. A slight shrug given, it mattered little one way or
the other:: <d>
Carden: Yes, that was just about the sort of reaction he expected to
witness were he ever in the position to inform the Tesariks of the
occurance.. though he wondered if he should even bother informing them of her
continued existence. " As I rarely explain.. there is good reason I make use of the
term.. former in regard to my association. " Though he suspected Ankar's
notice would quickly divert away, it would only serve to make his reason for
coming to Arith all the more difficult to achieve if the local 'ken were against
him..aware or not of what he planned to accomplish. " I doubt her decision
was altogether her own, the man's very nature made him akin to an aphrodisiac
in a way. " Perhaps even only to T'risk, it'd been quite the deterrant for Mister
Blacke.
Ankar: "Would you care for a drink, sir?" Hana spoke perfect common,
though it did have an island lilt, as she stopped and smiled at Dae. *It
matters not, she is of no concern to me.* She used her hand to swat the words
away as if swatting away a fly. *It does not matter to me. Men come and go, they
are toys to be used, then sent their merry way. Magiken pull others to their
level, they do not stoop down to others. Ever. Aphrodisiac or not. I will
speak of her no longer. What brings you here? Do you seek a new magiken to
swear allegiance to? There is always something to learn.*
DaemianBerazalle: Something hot, but not too strong. Whatever is easiest to
make. ::He replied to Hana, a smile given to her, glad to see she was on the
mend:: <d>
Ankar: She nodded, and went to get a cup to pour some aelfengrape tea
into. The caffar, as Maria had told her, was very strong. This was brought to
him.
Carden: He barely noticed Hana until she went out of her way to play
the proper barmaid. " I've doubts you'd find a simple way to provide the
beverage I would see. " And to the hells with anyone who suggested bloodwine
.. never again! Ankar succeeded in earning a restoration of his attention to her,
though he paid a touch too little mind to the ill-talk of T'risk. T'risk had
made her own decision and he would neither defend not demonize it beyond
stating his disagreement. " I am on this world only to visit the Leypoint in
order to continue my research.
DaemianBerazalle: ::He smiled as his drink was brought to him, a wink given
to Hana as she returned with the beverage. He simply leaned back then and
observed those who were in the inne, staying alert for anything that might
need his attention:: <d
Ankar: She nodded to Carden, it was her first night working, she
doubted she could make it either! *A former allegiant, wishing to research in
our leypoint? What is it you research?* She tapped her fingers on the book in
front of her, watching Carden carefully. This was an interesting turn of
conversation, she wondered if she should even trust this man in her home.
Carden: She could.. he simply doubted the girl would be overly happy
with bleeding herself in order to give him a drink! Studying the magiken
making a statement of his status as a former allegiant. " A Scholar is always
on a search for knowledge he has not yet procured, Ankar. I seek further
knowledge of the 'ken and their Empire. " And the Leymind..yet he was simply
far from foolish enough to admit to something that would earn her antagonism
quickly, a lesser being seeking access to the Leymind? Unthinkable! He was not
quite as certain as they would be.
Ankar: That was interesting, and a brow shot up. *You simply wish to
further your knowledge of my kind? Our empire? Hmm.* She tapped those
fingers again, staring at him. If she knew he intended to access the leymind,
she may have attempted to simply kill him right then and there. Unless he
wished to become a neo-magiken and even then... it was a difficult if not
maddening thing to access the leymind. Ankar was still young, and learning to
access it. *And you do not wish to become an allegiant again? You simply wish to
roam our leypoint and gain what knowledge you can from our crystals?*
DaemianBerazalle: ::He hadn't been paying the conversation any significant
attention. If he'd be asked what was being spoken of, he'd only be able to
remember small things at insignificant points. It had no relation to him, so
he felt paying it any mind would be similar to eave's dropping. A task he was
capable of, but not so tactless as to use it on friends. He sipped at his
tea, a grin given to Maria at the selection she'd chosen for him. It truly
was good in many forms::<d>
Carden: " Do you oppose a lesser being desiring to learn more of your
kind? " One did not spend much of his time around Magiken without learning
the subtle nuisances of how they treated those not of their people and how
they treated the Neo-Magiken as well. " I might well choose to become an
allegiant once more, are you putting forth the offer Ankar? I have one simple
critera for such a selection.. if you consider yourself the equal of your
Creators. " Might well be he would have said T'risk, the fact that the Tesarik
opinion of her has recently become that of traitor.. he chose not to risk his
mission on it.*No. But most do not have the courage to ask to come to the
leypoint itself to learn of us.* She lifted the caffar to her lips, and
sipped, then lowered it slowly. *Possibly, if you are worthy enough to have
been chosen before, I suppose you are just as worthy now. The equal? I am, of course,
the equal of my Creators. Though I admit I am still young and have much to
learn.*
Carden: Then there was of course the continued presence of the man
occupying Ankar's table.. and finally acquiring his attention to some degree.
The fact that Ankar addressed him once more distracted from that.. though
Carden himself did happen to keep up his lack of bothering to breathe and blink.
" Most have not been allegiant's previously nor gathering knowledge for over
a millennium. " Or damn close to it. " Perhaps I will restore my place as an Allegiant among the
'ken soon. "
Ankar: *Hmm.* She nodded. *You may study at the leypoint, but do not
go into the restricted areas.* If he'd been in a leypoint before, he'd easily
tell which ones were not for guests just by the way they were set up. Much of
the leypoint had been brought back to it's former glory but there were still
some areas that were destroyed. It was not so easy to put together certain
things with a flick of the wrists, not in their world. It took time.
DaemianBerazalle: ::He grinned as he took note of Carden's lack of
breathing, but overall said nothing. He'd proven to be here at least in a
non-threatening manner. He'd done nothing yet, and hopefully never would, to
warrant provocation. Dae, himself, could be noted breathing, blowing on the steam of
his beverage to cool it to a more pleasantly warm temperature:: <d>
Carden: Simply being aware of the restrictions rarely much that any
once-human would forever bother with the rules set forth by any society,
their own or others. He had indeed been in other Leypoints, on other worlds..
just enough to know he did not care for the lack of letting their more learned
guests the run of the place. " If the Leypoint here is in similiar condition
to others I have visited.. I could provide my share of aid towards its
reconstruction. " Odds were he'd be doing exactly that whether she permitted it or
not.. if only in the search for the knowledge he was after. " My companion
awaits me outside.. " Not that he was unaware that he'd never actually
managed to claim what he'dcome into the inne for.. but with the distraction of Ankar
and the lack of pinning down a barmaid.. the bloodletting really had never
come to be. " I suspect I will be meeting you again within the Leypoint soon
enough. " The best 'good bye' to be said by the unliving yet. *That would be a
fair trade. Do you intend to live in the leypoint, or merely come to study?* It could
take hundreds upon hundreds of years for someone to actually read all the books
upon slices of crystal in the leypoint. The magiken watched still for a moment, as he said he had a
companion outside. A nod, and if he allowed, there was a quick psionic
touching of his mind instantly putting the best route to the leypoint there
as if he'd walked it a thousand times, it just flashed into his mind like a memory.
Though he did not seem to have an issue with it's location. After all,
leypoints WERE placed on the leylines of a world. *Yes, I expect we will. I
spend much time in the library.*
Carden: " And why exactly would I choose to occupy someplace other
than the Leypoint? " Tone really did have a way of conveying a sense of 'no
place else befits one such as I', not too far off from how a few Magiken no
doubt considered for themselves. The psionic touch..did not recieve the
resistence of being unexpected.. though he was finding that the seemingly
lose capability of communicating with the 'ken telepathically had been lose
since leaving the world where the Republic of Umbra Victus could be found. " Ah, I
was beginning to miss that means of relaying information.. " Ankar recieved
the inclination of Mister Blacke's head in appreciation. " Until the library
shares our presence. " And then without further delay he directed himself
towards the door of the inne, pausing for any further communication from
Ankar.
Ankar: Being his attitude was so like many of her kind, she did not
take it as rude, merely matter-of-fact like herself, though she could show
emotion when she wished it. *Understood.* She lifted her caffar again and
sipped, turning her head away from Carden to look again at Daemian who had
seemingly been fine entertaining himself with his tea. She smiled wanly, and
settled her glass on the table again.

the black-clad, pallid man in and barward. Already well on his way to the bar
a pause in motions ending all of a sudden as he paid a glance over the

all too easy to confuse in this day and age after all. A gloved hand lifted,

Carden: They always did come with a bite didn't they, came the

Daemian Berazalle: ::He tilted his head at the intrusion to his conversation,
a look given to Shroud as if an apology for the intrusion. His gaze drifted

his beverage to cool it to a more pleasantly warm temperature:: <d>
