Tesarik One: Mistakes? IM me.
Tesarik One: Information taken from a book about Bryony: The Spiralling
Staircase: This broken travertine marble spiral staircase rises out of
overgrown foundations on a ridge northeast of Maidenhead. It was once
Tesarik One: the mansion of Vividius, a sorceror who founded a mage school
for young women here. Their fading spells hold aloft the fragmentary
staircase, which leads up to what seems to be nothing, where a
Tesarik One: will-o'-wisp lurks. The staircase is also haunted by a
murderous ghost: a floating, glowing gauntlet holding a magical sword.
Tesarik One: Its other end descends into extensive tunnels, haunted by such
apparitions as a disembodied human hand cupping a glowing selection of
(sometimes whirling) gems; a dark, shadowy, and swift gliding
Tesarik One: cowled human figure that points or beckons; and a wild-eyed,
finely gowned lady elf in chains, who screams soundlessly and gestures
imploringly to be rescued. Their origins and purposes are unknown. The
Tesarik One: cellars are prone to ceiling collapses, and may harbor
beholders.
Tesarik One: Maria, innkeeper of the Obsidian Heart Inne, has sent word out
to the adventurers that she has researched this staircase and found that some
have actually come away with treasure. As the Obsidian Heart Adventuring
Company has never
Tesarik One: gone there to explore, now would be a fine time to do so. So,
whoever wishes to go on this possibly dangerous quest has been asked to meet
Maria at the Port Union in Navahla, Sarkotos. The Port Union being a place
where mages
Tesarik One: form portals to all areas of the known world. (Begin RP)
a merciful edge: Well, Kyle was still sore, sure, but the walk he took at
least got his muscles convinced that yes, they were going to have to work
some more, so they might as well just get used to the idea. He figured a
group would be leaving from
Violeta Capraru: Vi was starting to like this Obsidian Heart group. They
went on WAY more lucrative ventures than
a merciful edge: the port union, and he'd left with all of his stuff anyway,
so he just headed straight there, hoping he assumed right, and also that
Joelle might have been paying attention so she'd be there too, since he
hadn't stopped back at the
a merciful edge: inne.
questing requiem: How did Girard let himself get talked into taking on
missions involving ghosts? Because. Yes, exactly that simple! Never were the
lot he wound up with prepared to combat such things! ..Neither was he for
that matter. Well perhaps a
a vision bereft: Joelle waited for Kyle, but when he did not show up, she
left without him. She had all her various accoutrements for adventuring with
her, and had pulled her long hair back in a braid down her back. The gypsy
girl was dressed
Violeta Capraru: her old comrades, most of which might as well have fizzled
out into the wind and evaporated in to the clouds for all she knew. The loot
was good here, at least. It kept her fed, fancied up nice and happy enough to
hang around, for
a vision bereft: colorfully in a long blue skirt and blue and green
underbust corset atop a long sleeved shirt, with an amulet around her neck. A
cloak around her as well, with a clasp that resembled a key. She approached
and stood beside Kyle,
questing requiem: bit of magic would be enough! All that mattered now was
that the minstrel had come to Port Union for the portal as he'd done numerous
times before. Well prepared and paticularly well armed , in his own opinion,
Girard set to humming
a vision bereft: looking towards Maria, then to the others.
questing requiem: by the time he finally wound up in Maria's presence along
with the gathering others. -d
Violeta Capraru: now. Hips followed a tune that'd been in her head for most
of the day, adding an extra spring to her step and slight sway at her
shoulders, too. Vi was in a good mood. That was fortunate! Her smiling self
soon stopped just a short
a merciful edge: He smiled happily when he spotted Joelle, and when she
moved over beside him, he gave her a little side hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Glad you could make it, I was thinking I might have to make a mad dash back
to the inne to get
a merciful edge: you." Nods were sent to the others in greeting as well.
Violeta Capraru: ways from the others, stopping to linger about with either
thumb hooked in her pockets. Dressed in all her finery, black leather in
pants and black velvet coat based over a red shirt and topped with her cloak,
she was ready!
Roguish Luck: Good thing he never managed to get that bath he was wanting.
The bear of a man stepped after Vi with a brow on the rise. She managed to
hoodwink him into the idea that the Heart was the place to go. He was young
and needed the money
Violeta Capraru: Hopefully there wouldn't' be mud involved this time. It took
so damned long to get the sludge out of her boots from before. -d-
a vision bereft: Elle smiled as Kyle gave her a little hug and greeting
kiss, and she hugged him back, then adjusted the seax that was sheathed
horizontally on her belt. She tugged out a dagger though, and looked around,
"Does anyone need a weapon
a vision bereft: for tonight?" (Dagger - 1d4)
Roguish Luck: so desperate times called for desperate measures. No matter if
he just had an axe handle to defend himself. The blue eyed kin glanced about
as he entered the Heart, curious as to this Treasure Hunting worked.[d]
a merciful edge: How thoughtful! He could swear he had something he could
loan out as well. Some sort of lightning wand. He rummaged through his cloak,
and then his small pack to see if he wasn't just crazy, but apparently he
hadn't put it in his
a merciful edge: pack. Oh well.
Tesarik One: Maria stood by the portal the mages had already made that would
take them to the Mageocracy of Bryony, and folded her arms across her chest.
"Hello, now then I've told you all as much as I know about this
Tesarik One: spiralling staircase. I've heard of some folks being able to
find some rather handy magical gemstones, and well, whatever you find you can
always sell if you don't need it. As always, be careful. And welcome." She
nodded to Logen,
Tesarik One: then tugged out a healing potion that would heal up to 10hp of
damage, and offered it to Logen. "Come back alive. Now, off you go." She
motioned to the portal.
a vision bereft: [\
Tesarik One: (argh my new kitten jumped on both my computers)
a merciful edge: (ha!)
questing requiem: " Always the pleasure, sending us off eh? " Snickering all
of a sudden the once-humming minstrel headed off for the portal without all
that much thought at all. The humming began new when he stepped through that
nice portal the
questing requiem: mages had prepared for them, presumedly on Maria's behalf
.. and coin no doubt. -d
a merciful edge: He did have potions, so at least there was that. not a lot
of potions, but a couple at least! Anyway. Off he went through the portal,
always happy to go first and loudest if nobody else wanted to!
Violeta Capraru: Her eyes turned over one shoulder, finding the new
acquaintance and his axe handle. She smiled a bit, then turning her sights
back on Maria. A tip of her head and the gypsy swashbuckler turned for the
portal, spotting the minstrel
Violeta Capraru: she did. There was a smile sent his way whilst meandering
towards the portal. -d-
a vision bereft: "No one needs the dagger?" She offered it forward for just
a moment more, then tucked it into her boot beneath her long skirt. She eyed
Violet a moment, for gypsies had an odd way of being able to tell others of
their kind, and
a vision bereft: offered her a slight bow of her head, respectfully. Then,
she headed in the portal behind Kyle.
Roguish Luck: The potion was graciously accepted and set to tie upon his
belt. He tipped the axe handle over his shoulder and followed Vi on through.
Euch. Teleportation again. He was probably going to have to get used to this
as a regular means
Roguish Luck: of transportation. He hoped he didn't throw up in front of
everyone when he arrived.[d]
Violeta Capraru: Feeling the eyeing, she'd turn her dark gaze towards the
other gypsy, the generous one she heard offering a blade. Violet found that a
winning thing, liking her far before the respectable nod. Offering one back,
lips laced in a
Violeta Capraru: smile, she'd turn to keep moving. -d-
Tesarik One: And once through the portal they'd find themselves in the land
of Bryony, before a travertine marble stairway that spiralled up into the
sky, as well as spiralled down beneath the ground as well. Bryony was a
mediterranean
Tesarik One: type environment, so it was not quite as cold as Sarkotos, in
fact winter was more about the amount of rain that fell, than about truly
cold weather. They could choose to explore upwards, or downwards first.
a merciful edge: "Oh you know me, dear, I'm not much of a dagger person." He
chuckled a bit. "I may borrow it from you for my next training session,
however, if you'd allow me. I think having at least something for my off hand
would be good." And
a merciful edge: then there they were at the stairs! "Anybody have thoughts
on which direction to proceed in first?"
a vision bereft: "Of course. If you'd like a bigger dagger, there is always
this." She patted her hip and smiled towards him. As they arrived at the
staircase, she stared up with a slight cant of her head, then peered down
into the
a vision bereft: darkness. Then she stepped away. She was a bard, not a
warrior by any means. They could choose, she'd follow and support.
questing requiem: " I'd offer up a whip to the borrowing.." Didn't think the
likes of that fellow following Violet would be all that keen on the whip. But
he wasn't an ungenerous bastard either! The minstrel glanced about a bit once
on the other side
Violeta Capraru: Giving a soft whistle, her chin tipped up, and up, and up,
in viewing all of the staircase... and then downnnn to the ground, too.
"Well.. I like the idea of being in the light... " Pointing up. -d-
questing requiem: of the portal. Knowing nothing of beholders he decided to
head up.. though not before speaking up. " Everyone good with heading up? "
Oh..was he moving already? Yes. Yes he was.-d
Roguish Luck: After the shock of teleportation left his equillibrium alone,
Logen stepped forward and glanced back and forth between the three. Great...
No leader. "As long as I ain't taken point.." A collection of saliva was
gathered nervously
a merciful edge: Well if the minstrel wanted to go first, that was ...odd,
and dangerous probably, but well..if he ran into something or fell and died,
he couldn't feel too bad about it! He was quite happy going first, he just
wanted an idea of
Roguish Luck: between lips and spat down onto the ground. The grip tightened
upon the axe handle as he followed after the minstrel.[d]
a merciful edge: where the others wanted to go. Oh well. He'd follow along
as well.
Violeta Capraru: She sent a little look around to the others, brows raising
questionably. Did anyone else have a preference? Hm.. seems Girard thought
up, too. And there went the rest. Well then! Happy to go up, Vi followed,
too. -d-
Tesarik One: Up it seemed. As the first steps touched the marble, a blue and
green light flittering above them is seen every now and again. Ghostly sounds
like vibrating moans are heard.
Violeta Capraru: Her ears perked to the sounds. "Okay.. nevermind, how about
down?" She was kidding (mostly), smiling at that.
questing requiem: Apparently no one had faith in Girard capability to not
die! That was unsettling! Forunately, or unforunately, he was more occupied
with the flittering lights. Undaunted he set to grinning though the humming
died rather quick-like
a vision bereft: Up it was, and so she waited until the others began moving,
though hearing Violeta she chuckled. Her hand slid along the smooth marble of
the staircase railing, she had always liked the cool feel of smooth marble.
Had she been
a merciful edge: Minstrels and bards should never go first, that was Kyle's
concern! Particularly since he had no ranged capabilities, he preferred to be
up front. Made it easier to gain the attention of the enemies as well. So
he'd at least stay in
a vision bereft: anything other than a wandering soul, she might very well
had had marble in her home. Perhaps she would be lucky to be given a marble
coffin when she died.
questing requiem: at that point. A glance back to Vi produced a grin. "
Can't start running away from ghosts now, what would the lad with you think?
" Probably wouldn't care.. as for Kyle's believe that the minstrel lacked
ranged capability.. well
Roguish Luck: "Yeah... whoevers doin the moanin.. Not funny." Logen glanced
back and forth, not appreciating the antics of the group.[d]
questing requiem: the man certainly failed to see the minstrel using magic.
..Which probably only helped for him to not take point. -d
a merciful edge: a close second place. Those sounds did cause him to lift a
brow. "I wouldn't be too worried ghosts. As long as none of them are
Ss'kala's." He chuckled a bit at that thought. And he wasn't worried about
Girard's ranged capabilities.
questing requiem: Well didn't stop him from continuing up.-
a merciful edge: It was Kyle that had none.
Tesarik One: As they moved upwards, a globe about a foot across appeared,
glowing. If someone got close enough, it looked as if it were made of a
spongy material. The moaning did not stop.
Violeta Capraru: Smiling a bit wider back at Joelle, and found a short laugh
at Logen's words... oh but gave a good, playful glare around at Girard. Hmph.
Tesarik One: Anyone that wishes can make a Knowledge (Monster Lore) check.

Violeta Capraru: There was no way she was getting near the spongy globe
thingie. Having no idea what it was might well have played a HUGE part in
that. "Any idea what that is?" She suddenly found her hand gripping the
railing a bit tighter. -d-
Tesarik One: Kyle and Girard are smart enough to be able to assume that this
glowing creature was the will'o'wisp that Maria had told them about, but
that's all they knew.
Tesarik One: Elle, well she knew quite a bit more.
a merciful edge: "It's a spongy globe thing, as far as I can tell. Probably
that will'o''wisp."
a vision bereft: "Yes, it's a will o'wisp. They can fly extremely well, and
are immune to just about all spells and supernatural abilities. If you make
them angry they'll shock you with a jolt of electricity. If you frighten the
thing, it can becom
a vision bereft: invisible as it extinguishes it's glow. It won't hurt us
unless we attempt to harm it, or capture it. It is intelligent."
questing requiem: " Probably shouldn't hit it with an axe. " Murmured
Girard, not actually hinting that Logan shouldn't go and hit it. He was
giving the thing a look over. Not undead .. he knew that much. And taking
note of Jo's explanation half way
Tesarik One: Even as Elle spoke of what she knew, another blue-green light
appeared and floated around Elle's head, then darted upwards.
a merciful edge: He listened to what Joelle was saying and nodded once, then
sent the thing a smile. "Well then, I see no need to bother it, if it's not
going to be hostile." So he offered a polite bow of his head to the wisp,
then continued up the
a merciful edge: stairs for now.
questing requiem: way through.. all Girard got out of it was 'don't attack
and it won't attack you'. " Continue on, yes? Good.. " Maybe. -d
Roguish Luck: He didn't have an axe to hit it with. Just an axe handle.
There was nothing sharp at the end of the wooden shaped haft. No matter, he
could still smash a melon or two with it. He simply nodded at the
explanation. "I ain't the bright
Tesarik One: The staircase went upwards about as high as a three story
building, and then abruptly stopped.
Roguish Luck: one of the bunch, but there's more than one way to piss
somethin off..." For good measure, Logen lowered the axe handle and used it
as a leaning stick rather than wielding it on his shoulder while he followed
the rest of them.[d]
Violeta Capraru: "Right.. well then, yeh--let's keep going." She grinned and
kept moving, eyeing the bright light as it darted up and away. She quieted,
resting one hand on a pommel, just because. -d-
a merciful edge: "Hmm." Said when he got to the top of the staircase, at
which point..he stopped. Since he didn't want to just walk off the side. He
did crouch down and feel about with a hand to see if there were maybe more
stairs, just..invisible
a vision bereft: She watched the will o'wisps for a moment, then kept on
walking upwards. She was at the end, unless someone had come in behind her.
a merciful edge: ones. And of course he did so without leaning too far
forward, since he had no desire to tumble over the side.
Tesarik One: As Kyle felt forward, his hand would disappear and part of his
arm when it went past the step.....but....
Tesarik One: he'd feel something solid.
questing requiem: " ... Well isn't that a lovely bit of architecture. " Said
when they came to take note of the fact the bloody stairs just stopped being
available to walk on. Honestly he was lucky he'd note walked right off the
edge! Unaware that
a merciful edge: Oh, well that was good. Disappearing hand. Was his hand
there when he pulled it back? Because otherwise that was a good time to
panic.
Tesarik One: And even as that happened, something appeared halfway down the
stairs. A ghostly apparition of a gauntlet and a glowing sword. It wasted no
time in flying upwards and striking at Elle's back side.
questing requiem: Kyle was being more thorough he was looking around and
then back. -d

a vision bereft: She felt something along her spine, a tingling perhaps? And
moved at the last moment causing that gauntlet and sword to miss, "Oh dear."
Violeta Capraru: Vi rose up on her toes, just enough to see Kyle's attempt.
Waiting curiously. She'd glance back to the others, trailing her gaze down
just in time to catch sight of the apparition. "Ah Hells."
a merciful edge: That was good enough! He glanced back down the stairs and
furrowed his brow, then hopped onto the stair railing and slid back down a
ways, drawing his sword as he did, then leaping off and back onto the stairs
to take a swing at
a merciful edge: the gauntlet holding the sword, by way of slicing right
through the ghost itself assuming it had some sort of invisible incorporeal
body to go with the gauntlet and sword. (Has spirit strike to hit incorporeal

Violeta Capraru: This was a ghost. A freaky, gauntlet wearing entity of
which the likes Violeta had never seen. While she had an inkling her attempt
would be futile, she had to at least try and deter it in some way. Plus,
there was the excitement of
Violeta Capraru: just attacking the thing! Having been breezed by at Kyle's
sliding past, Vi followed after, swords drawing from either side. Leaping off
one step, she'd give a quick, crossed slash down at the gauntlet of the
thing, flipping over it

a merciful edge: that attack had hit. He didn't want to attack his actual

Tesarik One: 7. This ring is silver, with a blood-red ruby at the center.

Tesarik One: 9. Bastard sword that gleams like silver and has a soft

Tesarik One: 10. Spear with leather tied around it, hanging with eagle and
hawk feathers.
Tesarik One: 11. Metal studded leather belt decorated with lions engraved

with tiny emeralds for eyes.
Tesarik One: 19. Small crystal decanter with silver tracery filled with a
red substance.
Tesarik One: 20. White wand engraved with magical incantations in various
languages.
OnlineHost: Roguish Luck has left the room.
a merciful edge: All that treasure scared Logen away!
a vision bereft: She blinked a little as she stepped into the secret room
and saw all that....well it looked like loot to her but she didn't have that
familiar tingle of magic. She moved about, looking around at the various
things, even going so far
questing requiem: Once Kyle gave that all clear sign, the minstrel headed
in.. and immediately felt quite unhappy when the song in his head went away!

Vi tested the invisible entry and slid on in. So weird! Wide-eyed out at the
room, she started to
questing requiem: ing that imp statue of jade, those wands, oooh.. was that

Tesarik One: There was no way that anyone could tell what, or IF any of
these items did anything due to the null magic. But if anyone wishes to pick
ONE item and take it with them, you may. State clearly which number you are
taking.
a merciful edge: "None of it looks all that fancy, bit...considering I feel
like I just got run over by a carriage, I'm assuming that's because there's
no magic in here. I'd guess if the stuff is taken out it might be m...the

a merciful edge: scowled at the severed tongue.
Violeta Capraru: walk about it, viewing pile after pile of different items.
Eyeing the silver ring and red ruby, Vi reached hand to pick it up, looking
it over.
questing requiem: Girard took to the imp statue of jade (16), it was
interesting enough.. even if that belt seemed more practical. -d
Violeta Capraru: (#7)
Tesarik One: If you can't remember the number just tell me what it was and
I'll get it.
Tesarik One: We lost Logen hm?
a merciful edge: Hmm, that hat was too damned cool. It was either that or
the gloves! He looked at his own gloves. They were a bit shabby, but his hat
was nonexistent, so he picked up that wide brimmed hat. Did he put it on?
Hell no, he wanted to
Violeta Capraru: ((he is on his way back))
a merciful edge: get it appraised first. (6)
Violeta Capraru: Vi picked up the leather armor, looking back at Logen with
a curious eye. Could it fit him?
Tesarik One: The leather armor was of a normal sized person size.
OnlineHost: Roguish Luck has entered the room.
Violeta Capraru: Maybe not. Vi put it back down, thumbing her newly
collected ring, instead.
Roguish Luck: ((Sorry 'bout that.))
Tesarik One: (ygm the mundane items in the null magic room)
Tesarik One: (You can choose one to remove from the room)
a vision bereft: She picked up the black rod and glanced around, there
wasn't much else to do in this room. She stepped back out after tucking it
into her pack. She knew enough to get it checked out as well before attemping
to "use" it.
Tesarik One: 17 for Elle
Tesarik One: 6, 7, 16, 17 taken
Roguish Luck: Loot or weapon? Definitely weapon. If he could manage it, he'd
take up the silvered bastard sword with the emerald gleen.[d]
Tesarik One: 9 to Logen
a merciful edge: Yep, back on out of that room. "Well, that was exciting.
Shall we check out the downstairs?" He was carefully placing that hat into
his pack, so as to get it in there without damaging it.
questing requiem: Not seeing too much else of interest, well that wasn't
true but the greed he felt was not a good thing to be exercising when he was
already uncomfortable in null magic. At the cue from Kyle, the minstrel was
out of that room as
questing requiem: quickly as possible. -d
Tesarik One: They could try to pick up more than one item, but if they
attempted to leave the room with more than one, everything would revert back
to the room.
Violeta Capraru: Vi turned her way towards the 'door', following after
them.. watching the room a bit as they went. Back out onto the stairs!
a vision bereft: She headed down the stairs, and glanced over her shoulder.
"I guess it's time to go beneath the ground."
Roguish Luck: He wasn't greedy. He was in need of something that worked. He
hoped that it would. Out of the room he went with his new toy.[d]
a merciful edge: Well good! He made his way down the stairs to the ground
level, waited to make sure everybody was coming with, then started down the
stairs to the underground part.
questing requiem: Once outside the room of nulled magic.. Girard sighed in
relief with the return of the song in his head.. and all those magic items he
was carrying of course. He'd let Kyle take point this time.. he remembered
what Maria said about
questing requiem: beholders! He had no wish to meet such a thing! -d
Violeta Capraru: She'd grin to Joelle, walking down a few steps behind her.
"Well, now that I'm covered in ghost snot, whatever's downstairs can't be
much filthier." Grinning ear to ear.
questing requiem: " I don't know.. could be filled with zombie magi. " -d
a vision bereft: She snickered, and moved down until she reached the ground
then stepped aside. She wasn't going first either but she did retrieve a
sunrod and get it working.
a merciful edge: "Well if it makes you feel any better, that ghost snot
ought to disappear before too long." If it behaved like all the ectoplasm
he'd had experience with, anyway. He had a sunrod as well he could use, but
unless they needed more
a merciful edge: than one, Elle's oughtta work!
Roguish Luck: "I'm alright with this... I have something sharp... Eh.. Be
careful." He, well, he probably shouldn't get possessed with this in his
hands. Logen kept both hands on the bastard sword as he followed them
down.[d]
Tesarik One: The staircase wound downwards then stopped when they reached
the hallway, passageways went off in all different directions. Haunted noises
sounded from all of them. It really didn't matter which one they took, it
sounded like they'd
Tesarik One: find something ghostly through any of them. But they'd find the
place much like a maze, if they didn't figure out a way to find their way
back they'd be in trouble. Also, the ectoplasm did fade away after a little
while. So no more
Tesarik One: ghost snot!
OnlineHost: a knights oath has entered the room.
Violeta Capraru: Violet let Logen go first, walking a short ways behind. He
had a new sword, and well.. hopefully he'd swing forward before he'd swing
back. At hearing the haunted song of sorts around them, Vi was happier even
then that she wasn't
a merciful edge: "Hm." And see? The ectoplasm went away. He knew these
things. He wasn't a ghostbuster, but he did summon ghosts for training
purposes, and sometimes you got the wrong ghost when messing with that stuff.
"Anybody have something to
a merciful edge: leave a trail, or mark the walls or something, so we can
find our way back?
a merciful edge: "
Violeta Capraru: heading up the parade. Ooh, and no more slime.
a vision bereft: It was in these circumstances that Elle was glad she
brought chalk. She fished out a few pieces and handed one out, to someone to
take. She'd keep one too. "I do, chalk. We can mark our way."
a merciful edge: Yay! He took a piece of chalk to start marking, since he
was probably going first anyway.
Violeta Capraru: "I have an option..."
a vision bereft: "Oh?" She paused, looking over to her fellow gypsy.
a merciful edge: He set about marking the wall he was nearest, then looked
to Violeta. "What's that?"
Violeta Capraru: Vi slid by Logen, pulling a wagon wheel tube from her cloak
then. "Got this recently.. " Vi motioned Joelle and the sunrod closer before
pulling a sheet of vellum from within. Holding the thing, she spoke lightly
to it. "Redraw." A
Violeta Capraru: single-word command set the map to redraw itself.
Everything for a 10-mile radius could be seen, if they weren't in an
underground maze, at least. Two minutes time was all it'd take to see the
decent amount of detail. -d-
questing requiem: Well that was a surprised, he'd fully expected Violet to
say something of the ' lets get out of here!' sort. That she instead offered
up.. was that a map? Now he was curious enough to take a closer look. Well
color the occassional
questing requiem: cartographer impressed! " .. I need to learn how to make
one of those.. " -d
a vision bereft: She moved in closer and held up the sunrod so as to see
what was on the parchment she'd pulled out. She watched with a brow quirking
as it began to draw. "Handy thing, that."
Tesarik One: At the very least, it showed ALL the various passageways, and
marked which ones were unpassable, along with a great number of X's
throughout it. The beholder lair was marked as well as a lair merely marked
"Stones".
a merciful edge: Well that was indeed handy! If the beholder lair was marked
they could just avoid the beholder altogether, assuming it didn't venture out
of its lair to go hunting or something.
Tesarik One: That would be something they'd find out, wouldn't it?
Roguish Luck: "Well, Treasure Hunter, lead the way.." Logen had to grin
towards Vi. Sure, he was being snarky. "Which path do we take?"[d]
questing requiem: Girard didn't like the idea of dealing with beholders,
he'd never seen one.. but that didn't mean he wanted to face one now. Stones.
Stones would be better right? " Whichever one doesn't have beholders swarming
it. " -d
a merciful edge: "Well, you've got the map. I suppose you can just tell me
which way to go as we come to it, assuming you know what we're looking for on
that thing."
Violeta Capraru: Smiling, "Well then.. I suppose we'll head this way.." They
did want the stones, right? She pointed out the spot, tracing her finger over
one of the X's along the way. Turning with map in hand, Violeta started off
at a measured
Violeta Capraru: pace. -d-
a vision bereft: She turned and began to move after Violeta, though she felt
better with a weapon in hand, so her seax was withdrawn from her hip. Sunrod
in one hand, large dagger in the other, she moved along letting her source of
light shine the
a vision bereft: way.
a merciful edge: Well wouldn't Girard feel silly if they were violent
stones. Or well..if Violeta wanted to lead instead of just telling him where
to go, that worked too. Either way he'd try to stay up front.
Tesarik One: The map was easy enough to follow, showing her just where to
turn in this winding dungeon to head for the Stones.
questing requiem: If they were golems.. he'd be quite happy.. he could hit
them with a blade now! Far less worrisome than the horrors of aberrations.
He'd wind up somewhere following Kyle. Sword drawn this time around. -d
Violeta Capraru: Keeping her pace, Vi turned down one of the hallways with
an X at its end. She wasn't sure what the X marked the spot of, but with the
number of them that littered the drawing, it was a little worrying. If it
were treasure, wouldn't
Violeta Capraru: it NOT be strewn all over a dungeon? Hmmm.
Tesarik One: After a good 30 minutes of walking, they'd find a dark and
shadowy, swift gliding cowled human figure beckoning them down one of the
passageways off to the side. The creature did not try to attack,
Tesarik One: nor follow, merely beckoned them to follow.
Tesarik One: The figure was where the X was marked on the map.
Violeta Capraru: She kept looking up to the path and then back down, and up
again--double taking on the dark and creepy one. Hopefully everyone else was
paying attention, because Vi stopped dead in her tracks!
a merciful edge: Oh hey, it was one of those ghosts they'd been informed
about! He eyed the thing for a moment, thinking for a moment. "Hm. It's not
acting particularly hostile. Should we see what it wants?"
a vision bereft: She stopped as well, giving a shiver at the sight of the
cowled man...ghost...something. She moved in behind Kyle and peeked out at
it, shining her sunrod towards it.
Violeta Capraru: Vi turned a bit from the thing, eyeing it. "You can.. I
don't trust the thing."
Violeta Capraru: It'd probably explode in to green muck!
questing requiem: "The diplomatic approach does tend to work.. even with the
restless spirits. " Least that was his approach to things, not that he was
going to outright start calling every ghost they ran into kin. Girard at
least was going to follow
Tesarik One: Does anyone wish to follow?
questing requiem: ..unless that'd leave him all alone. Cause alone was bad.
mmkay.-d
a merciful edge: Well he certainly wasn't scared of the ghosts, so upon
giving permission from the one in the lead, yes. He'd follow the ghost. So
there'd at least be two of them.
Tesarik One: At the end of the short passageway they find a hunched skeleton
in rotting clothing, looking to be the same clothing and cowl as the man.
There is a large golden signet ring on one bony finger.
Roguish Luck: Logen was staying next to the map holder.pd[
a merciful edge: "Hm. Well that's rather unremarkable. Perhaps we should get
the bones out of here and give them a proper burial. Any idea where he's
from?" He crouched down to look at the signet ring to see if he had any idea
based on it.

Tesarik One: It looked to have been there some time, so definitely not of
this generation.
Tesarik One: What to do, what to do?
Violeta Capraru: Vi lowered her map, watching down the passageway, but with
the dark she could make out nothing of visual clarity. Her ear caught a bit
of it. "Maybe we should pick the body up on the way out? Unless one of you
have a way to carry
questing requiem: " Least the ring should be returned to the Lionells. He'd

if the spirit will be tagging along. " -d
Roguish Luck: "Alright... Then let's move on.." He just looked towards the
ghost and grimaced. Miserable fate that'd be. Joelle now had his attention.
"I'd rather snag him now. I don't want to make any detours on the way
out....Seems unnecesary
Tesarik One: As he touched the ring, a trap sprung! Chain lightning, the
poor unfortunate soul had been used to lure them, and there was a burst of

It wasted no
time in flying upwards and striking at Elle's back side.
questing requiem: Kyle was being more thorough he was looking around and
then back. -d

Waiting curiously. She'd glance back to the others, trailing her gaze down

furrowed his brow, then hopped onto the stair railing and slid back down a
ways, drawing his sword as he did, then leaping off and back onto the stairs

Tesarik One: 5. Black leather gloves with impressions of feather covering
the surface.
Tesarik One: 6. Wide-brimmed straw hat.
Tesarik One: 7. This ring is silver, with a blood-red ruby at the center.
Some inscription is written around the ruby. In Celestial, 8. this reads "For
I shall risk death for the good of others"\
Tesarik One: 9. Bastard sword that gleams like silver and has a soft
emeraldesque glow.
Tesarik One: 10. Spear with leather tied around it, hanging with eagle and
hawk feathers.
Tesarik One: 11. Metal studded leather belt decorated with lions engraved
upon the metal.
Tesarik One: 12. Cold-iron helm studded with rubies.
Tesarik One: 13. Silver amulet shaped to look like two eyes.
Tesarik One: 14. Dusty, ratty looking pointed hat.
Tesarik One: 15. Severed tongue on a length of leather.
Tesarik One: 16. Imp statue carved of jade.
Tesarik One: 17. Small black wooden rod.
Tesarik One: 18. Polished gold belt buckle in the shape of a ram's skull
with tiny emeralds for eyes.
Not that it'd stop him from looking around for some loot to take with him. He

Violeta Capraru: bit, she slowed and sighed a bit of relief at hearing him
up the way. Bounding up the stairs two at a time. Seeing the others through,
Vi tested the invisible entry and slid on in. So weird! Wide-eyed out at the
room, she started to
questing requiem: ing that imp statue of jade, those wands, oooh.. was that
a belt!? -d
I'd guess if the stuff is taken out it might be m...the
devil is that." He
a merciful edge: scowled at the severed tongue.

He'd

the ring, couldn't just leave that to wind up accidentally falling. He'd not be
pocketing it for him
Violeta Capraru: easier. What a crafty lil' gypsy! Vi liked her. -d-
questing requiem: self though, wasn't in him.. well not these days. " Wonder
if the spirit will be tagging along.
Chain lightning, the
poor unfortunate soul had been used to lure them, and there was a burst of
lightning that hit Girard then arced out to
Roguish Luck: to linger in this place.....!!!"
Tesarik One: everyone that was in that small passageway, which was Kyle and
Elle, correct!?

Tesarik One: ~*~ Tesarik One scored 0 poynts damage ~*~
Tesarik One: 8 dmg
a merciful edge: Unless he can quickstep out of the way, yep.

Tesarik One: Once the first touch was done though, the body could be removed
if they so desired.
Tesarik One: They were close to the alcove where the "Stones" were marked.
Roguish Luck: The smell made his stomach growl. "...Seems safe now.."[d]
a vision bereft: She gave a yelp as she was shocked, and turned to get out
of the passageway, after tossing down one of her sacks. Oh yes, the gypsy had
a full pack of all sorts of items. She wandered constantly so she needed
a vision bereft: things just to survive at times.
questing requiem: " I'm dragging a trapsmith with me on these for now on.. "
Murmured after the lightning struck.. and his amulet and armor apparently
saved him from being lit up. The ring was still pocketed, hopefully without
more shocks. before
questing requiem: moving on.-d
questing requiem: Because every adventurer needed a Pocket Kobold for their
trapcracking needs! -d
a merciful edge: He cursed under his breath when they got all ...lightning'd
and such, that never did feel nice. Well that's what they get for Girard
touching the ring. Next time Kyle might take off his hand before he got
grabby.
Violeta Capraru: Blink.
