“You necessarily have to be lost, before you’re found.”
― T. Scott McLeod, All That Is Unspoken
The dream happened again, or was it a nightmare, she wasn't so sure as the circle of fire surrounded her as it didn't feel threatening, or welcoming but the darkness on the outside of the fire made her heart race against her chest. She could feel something was approaching, coming out of the darkness and there was the pair of glowing green eyes without pupils that seemed familiar and yet so foreign to her. It got closer, the silhouette of a dragon's head was un-mistaken and at first she started to worry that her father had found her, he had come for her. As it got closer, the face wasn't of the father who wanted to kill her, to devour her and consume his one mistake in his villainous life of tyranny; it was her. She realized she stood in the fire as a human, naked and staring up at her dragon self which puzzled her because she was pure dragon, not human.
Tainted.
Came the words, not words but it spoke in a way that wasn't telepathy but she understood it, the dragon hated her.
"I am not tainted, I am different."
Too human.
"I am a dragon, I am a warrior... I'm not human."
Must purge.
She watched it lurch it's head back, no she watched herself rear back, letting out a loud dragon roar to emit into the air then slammed down to engulf her human self in those jaws.
Then Jessica woke up screaming in bed, clutching her bed sheets to her body as she had been sweating, and shaking horribly from it all before she covered her face with a hand as she sobbed a bit. After a moment, she calmed herself and was thankful she was alone but she sat up staring at the interior of her little cabin of a home that she'd claimed. It had been abandoned and she had fixed it up, now... now it felt like a cage for what she knew she had to do.
The red headed female stood up out of bed, putting on her traveling clothes, hair in a lazy ponytail as she looked to her ring and brooch of OH as she set it upon her nightstand along with a note she had composed. One for Maria, one for Ellis and one for Paragus as she knew Ellis at least would come by and Gus, they'd find the notes.
To Maria: I need to leave for a short time to deal with a personal emergency, I leave my ring and brooch in case I do not make it back. Thank you for all the help and lessons that you and the other adventurers have taught me, I hope to return and learn more.
To Ellis: I have to do this, sorry I didn't tell you before I left... I love you with all my heart, it is the only treasure I can freely give you.
To Paragus: Sorry Shooting Star... as you said, we and I are too different, even I don't know it all.
She didn't leave much information, she looked to the little dog that had become her pet as she wasn't sure if it would even stay here and wait for her to come back, if it did, it would die of hunger as she left her little home in the woods, thinking it best to travel in human through the lands of Arith until she found a place to suitably shift to dragon form and find a portal back home.
Pausing to look back first at her home, then towards town, where she knew Ellis would be and giving a soft smile of sadness, she would turn and make her way through the snow and cold winds towards the North.
