While getting back into the adventuring part of her life, Ellywick had noticed a slight lacking when it came to one of her favorite instruments of chaos. The arbalest she had taken off the dwarf/kobold/turnip in Alzorc had been with her almost every day since. It's specialized wood tuning into a simple bangle on her arm so that she could carry it with her inconspicuously wherever she went. Even the arcane steel crystal that showed in this form didn't seem to give away her toy, but she wanted more. Such a trophy from the successful recovery of the vault deserved a little more oomph as she continuously proved she was the better marksman than Miss Gerda.
When it had come to her magic the choice of where to go had been an easy one to make. However, this was more than just magic and there were so many she knew that would gladly give advice or offer to improve it for her. She was sure Big Noodle, Goat herder man and Kyna (to name a few) would have their own ideas, but something told her to check on an old friend first. It was to the dwarf that she found herself moving. Wendhammer had a name for himself much like Elly and they had traded materials a time or two since she had come to Navahla. She knew she could trust his judgement and still keep others in the dark until the time was right to show off her improved trinket.
Kord had welcomed the little pink haired trickster with a bit of a bear hug and then listened to her request. There was only one course of action that he could think of that would do exactly what she wanted. Elly needed to seek out the blessing of the Treasured Merchant Andy, God of crafting and gold.
Hearing all that was expected of her to get such a blessing, Elly quickly moved back to her shop to get the items needed. The God Andy required an offering of at least 10,000 gold pieces. Normally Elly would have converted it to platinum but who was she to argue with the Gods over what made sense. Then she was to write up a plan as to how she expected his Greatness to improve upon her weapon. She had already decided that the weapon should use more of her magic, allowing her to cast with the endless ammunition it provided. And the very last thing she would need is a story to tell the Treasured one – what greater story than the one of how she got the weapon from the dwarf who couldn't hit the wall and how she proved every day that the weapon only missed in the hands of the dwarf.
Just as she had been told, Elly took her gathered things and went to the emporium where the God Andy was said to be found. Those that were found there knew why she had come and directed her to place her offering into the vessel of correspondence. Each one neatly placed where they could be seen by the Treasury Sentinel. An offering of gold from one of decent strength, the plan of how to improve upon the weapon, the written journal entry of the day she had gotten the weapon and the weapon itself.
After what seemed like days, the God of Crafting and Gold finally deemed it time to review the vessel that Elly had filled for him. He saw that she had given him exactly what he had asked for and laughed. The Great Andy returning the newly improved weapon to the gnome with but one word as proof that his boon had been granted – “Done.”
