Why do I need a template to update my Dossier?
Simple, because the Class Mod said so and he is the one that approves them.
When do I use the Dossier template?
Every single time there is a change to your dossier it needs to be approved by the Class Mod first. This includes new gemstone rank, skill switches purchased from emporium, replacement skills, reputation bonuses, anniversary awards, weekend update freebies. The only exception is to add approved spells or combat maneuvers.
Every Change?
Now before someone goes to Tim saying they need to fix a typo on the dossier. That is not what we mean when we say dossier change. A dossier change is adding new skills, adding new traits, a change in your reputation bonuses, or replacing skills for various reasons.

Template Explained
Character Name:
Your character's name. Not the nickname they got at the bar, not their code name, their name.
Screen Name (if multi-char sn)*:
If you are sending from the SN of the character and you only play that character on that SN, then this is not mandatory. If you're just copy & pasting this template from the website, may as well fill that part out too, right?
Link to Dossier:
Insert the web address of your dossier right here. A dossier should be made by you for your character on the website as soon as you get forum access. If you don't have a dossier, you don't have skills and you can't update to get more skills.
Former Gemstone Rank:
Current Gemstone Rank:
If this is an update because you went from Crystal to Topaz then Crystal goes under Former and Topaz goes by Current If this is an update because you're changing something but haven't changed gemstone rank due to freebie in the weekend update, skill switch bought at the emporium or you wanted 2 skills right after making Amber but couldn't figure out the third one and finally chose then you can say Current and mark it as no change. It's that easy!
Class(es)/Profession(s):
At Crystal, Sapphire and Diamond Victor, you get to choose a class (it can be the same one!). At Topaz, Ruby and Diamond Vanguard, you get to choose a new profession (cannot be same as any of the others!) Make a note if one of them is new so that having more than the standard gemstone skills below makes sense! Having 4 skills when you only get 3 for Sapphire looks fishy! And this is just easier on your class mod. Think of him.
Skills "Replaced":
There are some circumstances in which you can have a skill that becomes replaced - a freebie from a weekend update, purchased a skill switch from the emporium, or you reached a new gemstone and there is a replacement skill for one you took at an earlier rank. Even though all of these are sanctioned in some way, you still have to put them on a dossier update to be sent to the Class Mod. The original skill stays on your dossier and then after you get back approval, you can then put the replacement skills in their place. The reason for the replacement should be stated if it's not immediately obvious. Ranged Sniper becoming Executioner's Shot is obvious. Switching out Push to the Limit for Dexterous Fighter is not.
Skills Selected:
For some, choosing new skills is easy. For others it's a grueling process, but once you've finally truly absolutely 95% sure you know which ones you want, this is where you put them. Up until Obsidian ranks, you get three class skills and one flavor with every gemstone rank. If there is a special reason you are getting a skill - class/profession freebie, reputation bonus, anniversary reward, etc.; please make sure to state this so the Class Mod knows exactly why you are getting that skill.
Former Trait Point Allocation:
Desired Trait Point Allocation:
This is easy right? You had 5 quickness and now you want 8 quickness and 2 willpower. Make sure that the numbers are correct. Before Obsidian, you get 5 trait points PER gemstone, after that it changes.
Animal/Familiar/etc Trait Point Allocation:
Animal/Familiar/etc Skill Selection:
Not every dossier update is all about your character. Sometimes it's about your character's new pet. This is specifically for the animals that you gain through skills in our game - Animal Companion, Familiar, Imp Companion, etc. They have to have a dossier just like you, and just like you, it has to be sent in for approval before you can update it. Their traits are the same as ours, but remember that our companions can only take skills that are marked (CC) on the A-Z skill list. If there is a skill you think would work for your pet, talk to the Class mod and/or Storyline Leader for approval before taking it.
