An unusual find...
Once upon a time a Slyvan hunter stumbled upon a crying child left alone in little more then linen wrappings. The child newly born had been left to its fate, a cruel end to a new flame of life brought into the world. Wolves, bears, birds, insects, the cold could have took this child's spirit back to the provider. Instead it was Siliel Embermane, out hunting in the early hours of dawn that caught the sound of crying nearby and what she found was the last thing she expected to find that day.
What worth was an abandoned child, in a village of dark skinned Slyvan elves. The child shared a similar skin color to humans, and was obviously not a wood elf. It was theorized that a traveler from the nearby town Sael or perhaps a servant had become pregnant had abandoned him. The reasons unknown, the action unheard of among his kind. That didn't stop it from being any less true, Siliel an aging elven women who's children were grown had a decision to make.
No one wanted the child, for good reason he'd only cause problems. It was true, his presence in years to pass would offer a great deal of issue with others who saw him as stranger, different. Siliel agreed that it would be a hard life but decided after much contemplation to keep the child for her own. It was rumored the women without a mate, who's children had families of their own simply wanted companionship. That or she was simply being stubborn, her children suggested she be rid of it as more of a burden then worth. Who could blame them, The goddess however saw fit to guide her decision in the child's favor.
What sort of life could you imagine for yourself, being brought up by someone who was in no way related to you? No one like your to be found, and you stood out like a sore thumb among the masses.. It wasn't a dream come true. It had its moments where it was a nightmare for the young child. She gave him the only name he'd ever know, with it tried her best to shelter him from the world beyond It didn't work. A child eager to learn escaped into the wild beyond the comforts of home, and was meet with the welcome she knew he'd get.
He was always a topic when seen, it was rare in early years but as soon as he had became large enough to start doing chores. The world noticed him more and more each day, the adults were far to busy tending to their own responsibilities. The children like him were set to work, but easily deterred by distractions. He provided an excellent distraction, rocks, sticks, fists. He constantly found himself dealing with groups of kids like himself without supervision who saw him as an easy target.
If he fought back it was Sileil who suffered by his actions, as well as himself. Parents had made a point to punish him should he defended himself, he couldn't recall how many times he had been slapped, or punched in the back of the head for fights he hadn't started. The older they got, the worse it became few incidents in number but every once seemed to bring more attention to the fact he wasn't wanted in the village.
Then in what humans would consider his early teens, his protector died. The details of what had occurred weren't shared with him, he was simply instructed that he could remain if he kept her home in shape, and provided for himself. He never found out what happened to Sileil, he recalled crying wanting hear her voice. In anger, or in instruction, he didn't care which. In time the pain faded, and chore consumed his life.
He didn't play into the same situations that he refused to be taken advantage of, he became boring and unresponsive to insult, and provoking. He simply hurried on with what needed to be done, and though it took time he was able to cause his would be annoyances to lose interest..It took a lot longer then he suspected, and even then the occasional moment would catch him off guard.
Sileils children would stop by to inspect his home, instruct him on what they wanted done if he intended to stay and he did what was required of him to do so. He had no where else to go, these faces, these people were all he ever knew but that didn't mean he didn't want more for himself. He had to master taking care of himself from a young age, and until able to do so effectively he didn't have the time for day dreaming. It took something very specific to cause him to question his place among the Slyvan, an happening that he'd never forget..
