No one truly knows what the Adventurer's University looked like in the beginning, for it changes its appearance every so often, adding buildings and taking them away as necessary. Its current physical appearance to any who might view it, magical or otherwise, is one of the purest white marble. No one, not even the membership of the Black Veil can teleport onto the grounds of the University.
The lowest levels of the University's main building are designated as the domain of necromancers, blood mages and engineers. The laboratory is complete with work stations, magical appliances from all over Arith and cupboards for various magical, macabre and mechanical spare parts. There is a study area which is separated from the laboratory by a thin curtain and accommodates those who may be waiting with comfortable seating, as well as wooden work benches that are large enough to both study and complete the dismemberment of cadavers.
The main building of the University is the vast library. It is currently under the care of Phatyr, a mummy and prince who used to protect the even vaster libraries of a kingdom long forgotten. He is meticulous in his curating of the books, tomes, and scrolls recovered by various expeditionary forces, as well as materials accumulated through funding by the University. The library has since grown to become a vast wealth of magical knowledge.
The University boasts numerous student studying facilities. These rooms have been designed to temporarily accommodate those who wish to advance their studies well into the night, providing a sitting room, a study, and a bedroom. These rooms are not intended to host guests or house families and are for short term lease. Semi-permanent living arrangements for those who are wholly devoted to their craft are available at a cost.
The astronomy spire and alchemy laboratories are located in the building furthest away from the main. The spire allows for a bird’s eye view of the Navahla and on a clear day, astronomers have argued that one can see as far as Bryony. The laboratories are within the attic above the spire to prevent as much damage as possible that may occur during experimentation. It is here where those interested may brew their potions.
The University is overseen by the Ladies of the Black Veil who curate and collect the historical documents and items for the use of every citizen that passes through the University doors. The Ladies of the Black Veil do not speak unless spoken to and they cannot tell a lie. Should the University ever come under attack, the Ladies will protect the grounds with their lives.
Etched above the entry is the phrase: Spiritus Audendi
