The Bullet and Blade was still a bustling Inn, thanks mostly to Cordelia’s right-hand, Lacey. Lacey had taken up the mantle of Mistress while Cordelia had been living out her fantasies of becoming a ship’s captain and sailing the Jade Sea. Some things about the place had not changed though, the stool that belonged to Cordelia had remained empty the entire time she was away, the clientele was the same, and the girls were just as pretty.
Cord had arrived home through the portal that linked all of her establishments only moments before to a barrage of accusations and tellings-off by the aforementioned right-hand. There were not many people that she would allow to talk to her in such a way, but she was one. “I know… I know… I said it was a short mission. I know I’ve been gone for a long time. I know I left you all alone to deal with the business.” Lacey didn’t look best pleased with her ‘I know’ defence but the award winning smile now dancing along the Vixen’s lips took away some of the edge. “I brought you presents?” A brow arched slightly, as if buying her off would actually work. Lacey instead rolled her eyes and sighed, “You owe me a pay rise and a half.” Cordelia looked mock aghast but before Lacey could exact her revenge, she ran off up the secret corridor that served as both her office and her bedroom.
The room had been built in upstairs, hidden away from the main sets of rooms and sound proofed so that she wasn’t forced to constantly listen to the moans, groans and screams of the customers. The room itself was quite simple if not lavishly decorated with stark and contrasting black and white furniture and walls; split in two by curtains, the office part was where she kept the vast majority of the ‘information’ she kept on certain people, her accounts and the little black ledger that held off of her secrets. These were all kept in a magically sealed safe-box, hidden a place where no one would think to look. Cordelia slouched down into the high-backed chair behind her desk, and flicked at the massive pile of parchment that Lacey had left there on purpose. “Mmm, well… I suppose I could do a little paperwork.”
