skills racial skills Amphibious Aventi can breathe water or air, equally well, without any limitations. They can always choose to 'take 10' on swim checks, even if they are endangered or distracted, and take no penalties for fighting underwater. This is an innate skill. Magical AffinityYou have innate or learned magic ability. You cannot use magic in OH without this skill. Native Terrain (Oceans/Seas) You have an extraordinary familiarity with one environment: desert, jungle, forest, city, sea, plains, mountains, underground, hills, etc. When within his native terrain, then all rolls receive a +1 bonus. This applies to strike, damage, saves, magic, etc. You must state what your terrain is when you choose this skill. This may be taken more than once, with a new terrain chosen each time. This is a constant skill. Artisan Crafting (Flaw) You may take this skill if you are a craftsman of some type, allowing you to sell your non-magical items to others for gold. You may also choose "Unarmed Improvement" as one of your types, which allows you to teach special abilities to those who own unarmed techs. You are given 1 type of artisan crafting per gemstone rank. Ship Building class & profession skills Combat Bonus Extra 1d Attack, once per combat. So if you are 2d, you'd roll a 3d. A 3d rolls a 4d, and if you are one of the lucky few that eventually gain 4d, you'd roll a 5d! Combat Affinity You have an innate or learned fighting style. You cannot use combat maneuvers in OH without this skill. flavour skills Old Salt (Crystal) You are an old hand at shipboard life, having mastered the myriad skills that are required of the experienced sailor. You cannot get seasick. Additionally, you have an eye for the weather. You gain a +1 to Athletics and Acrobatics, a +2 to Use Rope (Use Mundane), and are able to tell what the weather will be like up to 2 days ahead. Knowledge (Crystal) You have accrued knowledge of one specific source. You also gain a +10 to each knowledge check asked for in that area. You may choose ONE type of knowledge per Gemstone rank you attain to gain your boost in! This is retroactive, you may choose as many knowledges as your gemstone ranks. Without Knowledge, you normally cannot make knowledge checks unless untrained is allowed. You may take this skill more than once. Alluring Tongue (Crystal)Oceanography (underwater life, fishing, sailing, navigation) People believe what you say more times than not, and listen to your advice and diplomatic attempts more readily giving you a +5 to Diplomacy. You know how to use your natural charms to turn decisions (heads, and hearts) in your favor. Carouser (Topaz) The ability to socialize informally with persons of all social classes, without being seen as an outsider. Also includes the ability to drink considerably less than most observers would think, and resistance to drunkenness as well as aphrodisiacs. crystal skills Ship's Mage You form a potent supernatural bond with a ship. Your spells have a more potent effect when cast aboard this ship, adding a +1 to the save DC of your spells. Those spellcasters who possess this skill are greatly favored as ship crew. Spells you cast while on this particular ship can never hurt your ship or the crew, unless effectively countered by your enemy. It takes one week of living and working on a ship to attune to it. You may only ever be attuned to one ship at a time, and this ship's name must be clearly placed in your dossier. If you are away from your ship for a month or more, you lose this attunement. This is a constant skill. The Crimson Rose captained by Duchess Cordelia de ClareAcrobatic You have excellent coordination, and can take a +5 to all Acrobatics Checks. Acrobatic Backstab Upon being attacked and taking no damage, you dart past your opponent, ending up perfectly positioned for a counterattack at that moment, allowing you to attack that same attacker instantly without taking up a turn. Roll strike as normal, and then proceed. This can be used once per combat. Artisan Crafting You may take this skill if you are a craftsman of some type, allowing you to sell your non-magical items to others for gold. Levitation involves floating a few inches off the ground if you are moving horizontally; if you wish to move straight up and down, the highest you may go is 20 feet. Craft Magic Item This crafting skill allows you to create magical items, or enchant weapons or armor, and sell them to others. You may choose one type of CMI crafting per gemstone rank, and be sure this is listed very clearly on your dossier. Wards and MythalsAlchemy You are skilled in alchemy and potion making.
