at the ink written on the scroll signed by "Uncle Rorshak", you then wake up
naked in an art school. A group of aspiring painters are in a circle around
you, committing
Tesarik One: your likeness to canvas.
grim mater: Good thing that hadn't been Wedilen.
Cloaked Fists: He just blinked a bit as he woke up in that surrounding. He
felt naked, and then looked down and saw a very good reason why he felt that
way. Not only naked, but also on display. And for art students, no less! A
crack of his
Tesarik One: Here's the scenario - You all spent the day looking for
information at the various shops and taverns and libraries in Midden Shrine,
in Bryony and were set up to meet each other again at the Broken Broom. Maria
has arranged for you
Cloaked Fists: knuckles given as he looked around, spying out his clothes.
Tesarik One: all to spend the night there as she processes the info found
and tries to locate any more information. It was discovered that Bryce also
received a scroll and found himself in an odd situation so he was sent to the
Broken Broom as
Tesarik One: well to meet up with the group. I'll allow some time for open
roleplay before we progress. (start rp)
Tesarik One: Magritt was apparently not that great at finding information,
but she was still shaken from waking up with a corpse that SHE apparently dug
up in her bedroom. Thankfully, Maria took care of the body, but it was all
that Magritt
Cloaked Fists: Not one to leave the hope of students dashed upon the rocks
of shattered dreams, he left them with a promise to return once his mission
was completed to give them the attention they deserved. He wasn't ashamed of
his nakedness, but
Tesarik One: could do to just wander around the big town and ask a few
questions, not finding out really anything of note. She soon returned to the
Broken Broom, hoping that her teammates had better luck. She sat at a large
table with plenty of
Tesarik One: chairs, staring down at the scroll as if something new was
going to appear. A server brought her a bowl of thick potato soup, and a
glass of mead.
SwordOfAtrophy: Thancred found out some.. disturbing things, and he sat
himself at Magritts table, asking for nothing but a simple cup of water,
while waiting for everyone else to gather. She stood behind him. She'd
processed the information he'd
Cloaked Fists: he did have more important things to do than stand around
naked all day. Getting clothed in a hurry, he departed before he could be
convinced to stay and help out with this matter, the Broken Broom his
destination. Things being
SwordOfAtrophy: gathered a little better than he had, then again, she was
much more hardened to how crappy the world could be than he was.
Cloaked Fists: what they were, he wasn't able to really gather any
intelligence on the matter at hand, and he arrived at the Broken Broom none
the worse for wear. If nothing else, the start to this journey would cause
quite a few laughs the next
Cloaked Fists: time he got to speak with the Kumpania.
grim mater: Wedilen wasn't well known all over the world but she did know
some people back in Navahla that knew some people here which meant she had
dropped some names and hit up the library since all that walking made her
bones ache. Keeping
Tesarik One: Also you all should have emails with information. I also sent
to Dan so he'd at least know the info OOC.
Cloaked Fists: (ty)
Tesarik One: She smiled gently to Thancred as he joined her, and nodded to
Sasha. She was a noble herself and recognized a noble's guardian, just from
how they acted. For the moment, she sipped her mead and took bites of her
soup while waiting

she found them out. Once she was sure she had found out all she could, she

Cloaked Fists: I'll help however I can going forward." There wasn't much

had about him. He

SwordOfAtrophy: "I did. And it's a bit disturbing." His water came, and he

things that say that we might be on the right track. I owe someone a knock in

smile when her order came up and she moved to scoop out some pieces of meat
into the small bowl while she talked like it was perfect normal. The green
head eventually

pretty on the edge of the table and wait for his food. The barbed tail
curled under the table so it wouldn't accidentally hit anyone. Though

sipped her mead and pushed her bowl away.
RageofNocturne: gritt--he said and would nod to her-D-
Cloaked Fists: Looking around those gathered, he took a quick stock of their
visible inventories. Mainly just gauging how they could handle themselves
should things get down to the nitty-gritty. Once all the formalities were
out of the way, he
grim mater: just high enough that only her companions would hear. "Seems
the Scriveners are still around and quite active. Groups of them found on
occasion when an initiation goes wrong but none seem to know their actual

Cloaked Fists: took on a serious demeanor as he settled in to listen to the
sharing of what was learned by those who had discovered things.
grim mater: glyph magic was banned in the first place because someone died.
Now they keep to themselves in the dark. The magic itself is interesting to
the point that you can tell who uses it by the way they use their abilities.
All ink-
Tesarik One: Though Magritt looked like a fairly nicely dressed noble lady,
she did have a Zorcan axe at her hip, and her common was flavored with a
Zorcan accent. She knew how to fight if needed, though she tended to prefer
her chronomancy.
grim mater: based type stuff. I prefer a good frost or fire myself. "
Small slurp.. mmm good stew. -f-
Tesarik One: "Scriveners, huh?" Glyph magic, dangerous stuff. "Sounds like
something inkantationists could delve into."
grim mater: "Possibly but it's more all about the written word. Scrolls,
contracts, glyphs.. even living glyphs.."
SwordOfAtrophy: "What I heard.. is that even in the sect of mages that still
practice Glyph magic in secret, there are those who refer to themselves as
the Verses, the most potent and influential of the lot. They apparently love
to scheme and play
SwordOfAtrophy: politics." He smirked a bit, shaking his head. Mages weren't
too far from nobles sometimes. "And well, they have a lovely little devil
named Titivillus that has a mastery over the written word. So you can imagine
how useful that is
SwordOfAtrophy: when laws are being made. And apparently he's available for
parties!" Yay, summoning. "Not sure how that has anything to do with us, but
it is completely a thing. So if you see a dark skinned man with thinning
hair, and a robe that
SwordOfAtrophy: looks like a crossword puzzle. Stay away."

RageofNocturne: :: He would listen to the others as he didnt learn very much
at all about them so he figured now was a great opportunity to listen to the
others and learn a thing or two-D-
Tesarik One: "Hmm. That sounds very useful for people who want to make
documents work for them. And very dangerous. No wonder that sort of magic is
frowned upon."
Tesarik One: Maria has arranged for you all to spend the night at the Broken
Broom, while she uses all the information each of you found out to locate
anything that would help find the culprits. Maria being a
Tesarik One: member of the Blackfeathers had many, many contacts and it
didn't take too long for her delvings into the group Scriveners for her to
find an potential address. Maria gives you all instruction that a
Tesarik One: supposed cabal of Scriveners can be found in the Ruins of
Silvermist beneath one of the crumbling buildings. She has left you all a map
to be able to find a weak spot in the ward around Silvermist so you
Tesarik One: all can get in and explore and locate these Scriveners.
Tesarik One: This information is waiting for you when you wake up, and once
everyone is ready to go, then off you go to find a weak spot into the ruins
of Silvermist, part of Midden Shrine that exploded ages ago and is said to be
so dangerous
Tesarik One: that the Council of Wands has magically sealed it so people
can't get in..... unless of course you know a weak spot.
SwordOfAtrophy: "Oh Maria, you wonderful lady you.." Though he wasn't
looking forward to trying to break into some place, especially where powerful
mages lived. They kinda got cranky when you showed up unnannounced. "So..
who's in for mage
SwordOfAtrophy: hunting?" Spoken as everyone gathered in the morning and the
news was discovered.
Tesarik One: Magritt was slightly uncomfortable sleeping, after what
happened last time she slept, so she looked a bit worse for wear when she
arrived downstairs in the morning. Her long hair was intricately braided out
of her face though, she
SwordOfAtrophy: Yawn. She prepared for magical attacks for a reason. Silly
dog worried about nothing. She was standing nearby, eyes closed, imagining
Magritt in her nightclothes... or napping. Hard to tell.
Tesarik One: was clean and smelling nicely, and wearing a comfortable suede
and wool dress. Pack on her back, axe at her side, she didn't appear to be
wearing any armor but she did have a trick for that up her sleeve.
Tesarik One: Perhaps it had something to do with the snarling wolf ring on
her finger whose open maw seemed to breathe out cold fog.
grim mater: If she was going to do forbidden magic in the capitol of a
mageocracy. She'd do it in 'sealed' off ruins too. It made sense and once
she was completely awake (it took a bit), Wedilen motioned that she was good
to go. Seemingly
RageofNocturne: :: He would shrug a bit-- I suppose i am up for one. I can
always add witchhunter to my accomplishments. --he said and would chuckle
slightly-D-
grim mater: wrapping herself in layers as she came downstairs. The little
green head popping out from under her shawl to eye Thancred. "Actually, mage
hunting would be quite easy around here.. " She poked herself in the boob.
"Look found
Tesarik One: With Maria's specific information it was not too difficult to
find the breach. Down a winding alley, there was a brick wall. A portion of
the bricks had fallen apart in one corner and was partially blocked by a pile
of heavy crates.
Tesarik One: The opening was large enough for a medium sized person to crawl
through.
Tesarik One: Indeed the idea of "mage hunting" from Thancred's mouth got a
lot of stares from those in the tavern at the moment. O.O
grim mater: one." There was a sparkle in her eyes though and she motioned
they get going. It took her a wihle to get anywhere some days so they needed
to do this while her energy was high. And oh look.. a gnome sized hole!
She'd just stoop
grim mater: down to do a crab walk sideways through it to get inside. There
were several noises that came from her after that seemed to be a mix of pain
and relief though.
Tesarik One: Onwards! Along the streets, through alleys and over bridges
over the many rivers in the city until they found the breach. "I did not
think I'd be on my knees today," she muttered, and watched as Granny headed
on through with ease.
Tesarik One: Once Granny was through, she moved past the crates and got down
on her hands and knees and began to push her way through the hole in the wall
as well.
grim mater: "Most noble ladies never think to find themselves on their knees
to my thinking."
SwordOfAtrophy: "Oh not you guys, settle down." He told off the crowd. It
was too early for him to temper himself, so he and Sasha followed along.
Rather than go dog, he'd just maneuver his little butt through the door. "Oh
I'll make being on your
Tesarik One: "Indeed," she grinned over at Thancred.
Tesarik One: Sorry, Granny*
SwordOfAtrophy: knees worthwhile, Lady Magritt." Snicker. It took her a bit
to get her big lumbering ass through the hole as well. "Getting far too old
for this crap."
Tesarik One: She snickered hearing Sasha, and gave a little wiggle of her
rear end right before it disappeared through the hole.
grim mater: That made her cackle a little under her breath enough her teeth
whistled. "Alright so..." She wasn't letting her familiar get lost in the
mist so it was just her eyes she would depend on today. Squinting about to
see if she could
grim mater: anything that would point them in the direction of a very
specific crumbling building. Really if anyone was going to have a written
signal.. it shold be The Scriveners.
Tesarik One: The difference between Shrine and Silvermist was easily seen.
While Shrine was a bustling city full of sounds, smells, sights, people,
animals..... as they pushed through the breach in the magical shield around
the ruins, they would
RageofNocturne: :: He would get up and would get his shield onto his back
and would head through the door and would follow the others and to the hole
he would come to a stop and would take off his shield to use it as a slide to
make his way through
RageofNocturne: the hole to the otherside-D-
Tesarik One: find themselves in an eerily quiet alley beside the shell of a
building. It was far more ancient than Shrine, the carved marble and stone
was beautiful if a bit creepy due to the pink mist that clung to everything
and climbed along
Tesarik One: the ground. No sounds, only the smell of something sweet like
honeysuckle, no animals or birds, no bustling people.
SwordOfAtrophy: "....This smells weird.. like we're in a beehive or
something." He dusted himself off and looked around. "The pink mist isn't
helping either." "It's almost as cute.. and creepy as your attempts to woo a
lady, Master Thancred."
Tesarik One: Places like this were very intriguing yet creepy in a way. She
had always loved ruins, and had spent most of her life going to the Library
ruins near Valbein in Alzorc where she grew up. But there was sound in the
library, nature
grim mater: Another whistle passed her lips as she looked around and she
shook her head a few times. There was something.. off about this place and
she wondered how much of that was the shielding keeping the natural world
out. Questions to
Tesarik One: and life, and perhaps even the wonderful scent of old books.
"The area seems to be pretty well sealed from Shrine from the sound and look
of it."
grim mater: ask people at a later date. Her fingers moving to check that
she had her insignia where she could touch it. "Yet still able to pass
through for dirty deeds. Let's see if we can find what we're looking for
without causing too much
Tesarik One: There instructions would have them move into the central
courtyard of Silvermist where a very large open area was located with a
massive fountain. The fountain trickled a little bit of water which looked
clear, but nothing like it
Tesarik One: would have been in its heyday. Major buildings of the once-city
were all around the courtyard, and they were being directed to one that
looked like - you guessed it - a Library.
RageofNocturne: :: Hmm... this place is odd indeed....but that smell...i
really like it...--he said and would look at the mist and around at the place
as a whole as he waited to follow with the others to figure things out-D-
grim mater: of a stir.. yes?" Grip on her spellshocked cane tightened as
she started heading in the direction they had been sent. Her eyes seeming to
be on extra alert since there were no noises. When someone pointed out the
building. it
grim mater: took all her willpower not to snort a bit. "No imagination..."
grim mater: ( have to brb quick (i hope))
SwordOfAtrophy: Thancred tried to be quiet as they kept along, but Sasha was
in forty something pounds of armor so a stealthy approach wasn't all that
possible. He passed the fountain, decided against his canine instincts to
take a drink. He eyed
Tesarik One: (brb)
SwordOfAtrophy: the library briefly as they approached it. "Should we knock,
you think?"
Tesarik One: "It is very sweet, the smell." Honeysuckle was not a plant that
grew in Alzorc! Probably grew in portions of Sarkotos though. "I doubt they
are just occupying the upper portions, they are probably ensconced in lower
chambers." Her
grim mater: ( back !)
SwordOfAtrophy: (wb!)
Tesarik One: eyes took in the ruins of the building, an explosion of magical
make (so they say) had caused the city to crumble, leaving only ruins so the
Library was mostly just a shell of a marble building. The large stairs still
were there,
Tesarik One: and the ground floor was partially standing, but the large
pillars had fallen over. It would be easy enough to slip through an open
window opening into the first floor though.
Tesarik One: It was light enough to see on the first floor due to not really
having much of a roof.
grim mater: "In the basement with the rest of the rats." Though.. she did
most of her cauldron work in a basement. Something about being encased in
earth almost seemed to help the brewing process but she never shared that
detail. Trying to
grim mater: make every step quiet with her cane as she got her hobbling
rolling gait going to look for any entrances. A window was going to be a fun
crawl. "You think it's warded?"
SwordOfAtrophy: "Something about it being harder for magical energy to
escape being underground, or so I read." His energy was mental, so he figured
it didn't apply to him. He moved to the window to take a look. "Might be, if
it blows up in my face
SwordOfAtrophy: send all condolences to the Duke."
Tesarik One: "Probably, in some way or another." She waited her turn to
climb over the big open window, and began to move about the area. Looking for
any sign at all that would tell them they were in the right spot. (Spot)

bones. Once she was on the other side, she looked around herself to see what
was there. [Spot[

Tesarik One: (ok)
Tesarik One: So, Wedilen you don't really see much except a lot of marble
and wood. The place hasn't really decayed due to the magical shield around
the area it seems, but it is rather dusty and there is that pink mist making
it hard to see
Tesarik One: much. Turlough, you very clearly make out through the rubble
and mist an archway behind one of the pillars, and it looks like it has been
cleaned away. There is no dust.
Tesarik One: I don't see a roll for Thancred unless I'm blind.
SwordOfAtrophy: Isn't one, dahling.
Tesarik One: Magritt is too concerned with peering around at the old library
to see anything of importance.
SwordOfAtrophy: Too busy checking out Magritts butt.
RageofNocturne: :: He would after looking around and making sure the others
were all in aswell he would gesture over to the archway-- Over there it has
been cleared and apparently dusted aswell...Anyone else see?-D-
Tesarik One: "Now that you say that, yes, it does look clearer there." She
headed over to that area.
SwordOfAtrophy: "Can't see much with this silly mist." He grumbled,
following Magritt. Sasha in tow.
Tesarik One: As you move towards the archway, two arcane glyphs appear
hanging in the air, to either side of the group. They look to be made of
actual ink, in the shape of a glyph. The first one attacks quickly, sending a

Tesarik One: A tall man stepped out of the archway, wearing a robe covered

Tesarik One: "You're here." Magritt had dodged the incoming ink blot bolt,
and was swinging her axe, but they did have questions so perhaps they didn't
have to kill this mage now that he appeared - yet. "It seems odd that we were
sent glyphs
Tesarik One: that led us here, yet you say leave. Please help us
understand." She pulled out the scroll parchment and opened it to show him.

then rushed over to an alcove and motioned everyone over with him, speaking
in a hissing
Tesarik One: whisper, "I did not think you would be here so quickly. I am
thankful. But we must be very quiet, the others do not know that I 'arranged'
for you all to come here."

grim mater: She blinked when suddenly they went from fighting to chatting
and did her best to get close but it was obvious that she wasn't completely
trusting of the man. It didn't make her any better when he said they had to
be quiet. "So
grim mater: you are Uncle Rorshak.. Boy I oughta take you over my knee and
beat your butt with my cane. That little scroll you sent made me wake up in
a coffin!" She was whispering but the heat was there. "If I had taken any
longer to wake
grim mater: up..." The threat was there even after the words faded off.
SwordOfAtrophy: Thancred eyeballed the man. Oh sure, attack them then
pretend to be a friend, not like he'd never seen that before. But still, he
moved closer and quieted down when prompted. Sasha did the same, but making
sure to keep her axe in
SwordOfAtrophy: hand, just so the man would know he was treading on thin
ice. She didn't appreciate being kidnapped like she had been.
Tesarik One: He frowned, shaking his head, "I am Artur, but yes I did send
you all the scrolls. It was a rather chaotic spell and was not supposed to
truly harm you all, merely to make it enough that you would wish to seek out
the culprit.
Tesarik One: I had to do so in a way that the others would not know I was
involved in any sort of ... whatever it is I am doing." He shrugged, glancing
around again. He wasn't really their friend, and he wasn't a "good" person,
but sometimes
Tesarik One: even the bad guys needed help. If they wished to help. "Those
of my group have summoned the aspect of Titivillus, thinking that he would
aid us in further research and some... issues we have had with the council of
wands. Politics I
Tesarik One: will not bore you... needless to say, the creature we summoned,
a devil himself sent from Titivillus himself, is far more corrupt than we
imagined. The others, while some secretly complain of the direction we have
been taken,
Tesarik One: others have been taken in by the creature's promises. I - do
not trust it - and would see it destroyed."
grim mater: Wedilen looked at him a moment and just blinked a moment. "You..
sent us scrolls.. to make us show up.. so we could handle your demon for
you?"
Tesarik One: "Aye. Your group has a reputation. Our numbers are small right
now as the devil has sent most of our group out to obtain items for him. Only
myself, Balen and Zevra remain. It would be difficult to get to the creature
when all the
SwordOfAtrophy: "So you called a couple nobles, because you had trouble with
politics? I thought mages were supposed to be smart." He shrugged. He turned
to look at Sasha. "Well?" "Demon hunting? Sounds like it's right up my alley,
along with
Tesarik One: Scriveners are here. I had to act quickly, but discreetly. "
SwordOfAtrophy: watching those who thumb their nose at the 'common folk'
squirm because they mess with things they can't deal with."
Tesarik One: "I sent out many scrolls, apparently not all were delivered."
SwordOfAtrophy: "Pull the other one."
Tesarik One: Magritt was still holding her axe, tapping her fingers upon the
wood, as she listened. She didn't like this business, and she didn't like
being manipulated. She also didn't like crazy devils on the loose. "Hmph."
Tesarik One: "Where is this devil?"
grim mater: "Or they haven't been opened yet.. we'll need names if we do
this as well as payment.." Yeah it was a little uncouth to mention it maybe
but she did anyway.
Tesarik One: "It has taken up residence deep under this library, and has
demanded several youth which he keeps as prisoner for his own amusement I
assume." Perhaps that is where the line got drawn for Artur, seeing young
folk abused. He didn't
Tesarik One: mind taking down politicians and screwing up documents but when
things went down a different route, he had somewhat of a conscious.
Tesarik One: "I will pay you well."
Tesarik One: "As long as you keep it secret of my involvement... and yes I
will give you the names."
Tesarik One: "Perhaps if you do not feel prepared to take on this creature
as you are, you could go back and find those able?"
SwordOfAtrophy: "Alright then, let's get started.. and I know it's fun to
piss off politicians.. but you really just end up making things worse. Case
in point." He looked around. "Where's the entrance to the basement?"
Tesarik One: He pointed to the archway, "Our chambers are down this
stairway. There is a main corridor, many chambers off of it for our private
rooms, library, dining room, living areas... but if you find the gated
staircase at the end of the
Tesarik One: hall, it takes you down to the lower level and that is where
the devil resides. The gate remains locked, but Balen has the key around his
neck. Balen and Zevra are both in the library. The first door to the left
when you reach the
Tesarik One: bottom of the stairs. I doubt he will give you the key
willingly."
Tesarik One: "I... will be in touch." And with that, he disappeared.
SwordOfAtrophy: "I'd assume as much. Well, we can see.." And then he was
gone. Thancred, in a childish gesture, flipped off the empty space, before
moving for the stairs to head down. "Hope you're not too attached then."
Sasha said casually, axe
SwordOfAtrophy: across her broad shoulders. Following the dog.
Tesarik One: (Ok I'm gonna go ahead and end it here for tonight. I'm not
