Solanine
Grayson
Stories from the Past: A Rough Start
Solanine and Grayson were quite the team and had been for a long while now. Solanine, an experienced pirate, had become the Captain of the Twisted Sigil in recent years and Grayson was her boatswain, until he ranked up to Quartermaster. He was truly trusted with her life in his own hands. But, had it always been this way? It had not, in fact, though Grayson had proved himself to more than Solanine, he had the respect of the sailors as well It had all begun one early morning on a raid........
The Twisted Sigil, one of the many pirate ships known to sail the southern waters of the realm, had been raiding the smaller towns and villages along the western shore quite regularly, then returning to Madder to sell the slaves they'd captured. The humans were quite popular with the vampires, as were felines, so those were what the pirates were really looking for. They'd gotten a tip that there was a village with a good number of healthy humans, right on a small island that was fairly clear of any type of guards or knights. Easy pickin's so they said! So it was with that reason that the large sailing ship marked with the Sigil's colors, but not flying their flag, sailed into the waters near the village. Longboats lowered, and they all headed for shore, armed to the teeth with blade and gun, nets and their ship's mage's magic.Hitting the sands, the longboats were tugged up onto the sands and they began moving as a swarm towards the small village. No doubt, they'd been spotted by now, either their ship or upon landing.
He was among those that'd spotted them! And narrowed his eyes. The youth had been training to be a fighter, of course, and while the rest of the village seemed scared and upset, he was more..angry. So he decided that if none of them were going to do a damn thing about pirates invading their village, he would. Maybe they'd follow his example? Probably not. He ran to his house and got himself geared up..he didn't have any heavy armor, but he did have a sturdy wooden shield reinforced with iron, and some leather armor at least! As well as a small war axe and a longsword, yay. Too bad he wouldn't get to keep any of it! That done..he waited until one of the pirates was in throwing range, then threw that war axe at his stupid piratey face, hoping to score a hit if through surprise than if nothing else, considering nobody else looked to be ready to put up a fight. Once that axe left his hand he drew the sword, readied his stance, and then decided to meet them at their own game and see how many he could take out before something horrible happened to him!
The pirates had spread out pretty fast, with groups of 9 or 10 going in various directions, kicking open the doors of the cottages and grabbing the young women first by the hair and hauling them out to tie them all together. The group that happened to meet the resistance, which seemed to be made of just a young human and a few other men here and there began to fight quite dastardly. They did love to show off their swashbuckling skills, but this was not the time for such things. Instead, they were simply pointing flintlocks at the older men that were trying to stop them, shooting them dead or wounded in just a shot or two, leaving quite a bit of carnage in their wake. Children were being herded out, as were young men now, as the pirates took over more of the village. As the axe hit the pirate's face, he fell backwards, blood pooling around him. As the pirate hit the ground, Solanine turned, swords in each hand, and grinned towards the lone male. Stepping right on the chest of the fallen pirate, she jumped and spun off his body, swinging both of her blades towards the fellow.
Ah, a dual-wielder. Well he knew he'd probably need to give ground and wait for an opening to deal with her, so he backed up when she came at him and trusted his shield to protect him, though..she seemed pretty damn fast with how quickly she'd come at him! So he made no attack for now, just focused on not getting himself killed and backing away. Maybe she'd tire herself out! He could only hope.
"No fight in ya, boy? C'mon, show me what ya've got or I'll slice you open and pull out yer puddin's!" Solanine was a strange woman, raised by high elves, and was just as cultured as any of the city elves but her decades with the pirates had left her torn. When she needed to be all secretive and noble, she could certainly be that way, but when she was with her sailors, she could be as foul as they were. She smiled, her emerald eyes flickering with delight, as she moved closer towards him and slashed across his shield with one sword then the other, then lifted a booted foot to kick him backwards.
He narrowed his eyes in a glare at the woman as she taunted him, and continued to give ground, waiting until she delivered her two slashes and then, when she went to kick, he attempted to slam his shield down onto her foot to interrupt, and then lashed out with that blade coming at her chest! He did hesitate just the slightest bit before his stab though, since running a woman through wasn't something he'd mentally prepared for!
A few of the other pirates came towards Solanine as she was fighting, but a glare from her sent them scattering to fight the others and gather up the slaves they were taking. This left an opening just a second's time for him to slam that shield down on her foot, but she reacted quickly and with grace as she leapt backwards away from the movement of his blade to her chest. She was too proud to wear armor of any kind, instead her clothing was merely the style of all the other male pirates, though her long red hair had been braided out of her face. "Ahh I see then." She grinned, as he seemed to hesitate, and she took that opportunity to try and get her blade past his shield and give a good deep stab to the shoulder of his dagger arm.
It was a sword, not a dagger! As he would be happy to demonstrate for her now that he'd steeled himself a little more, by running it through her belly. Unfortunately if he had a good chance to do that, it was too late now. He moved his shield when the blade came at him but not quickly enough and only deflected the blow so that it cut a pretty deep furrow into his shoulder instead of stabbing it. He grunted and knew his arm was going to be weakening from that soon enough, and so it was desperation time! He lunged forward in an attempt to slam his shield right into her and hopefully take her down to the ground, where he'd then try to give her a good smash in the face with his sword hilt. Well..hopefully he'd at least hit with the first part even if he didn't knock her down!
She moved back, slightly faster than he was it seemed, but he'd get that shield hit in, but she wasn't ready to fall to the ground yet. Instead she stood her ground as he slammed into her, and her right arm came up blocking that sword hilt to her face, while her other sword hand move around and stabbed him right in the hip, not far enough to do too much damage but it would definitely hurt and make him limp. "Fiesty. I think I might like you boy." She nodded towards the pirates behind her then, and he'd feel two pistols jammed up against his ribs from behind. He was the only one left fighting, everyone else was wounded or dead, save for the cries and screams of those tied up and being led to the longboast. "Ya wanna fight more? I can keep drainin yer blood till ya pass out." She winked at him and continued to smile.
He cringed with a groan of pain when he was stabbed in the hip then and dropped his sword, glaring at her at her words. And then he winced at the feel of those guns jammed up against his ribs. "If you wanna fight more, how about you get those guns off of me?" Fiesty was a good word for him! And if he didn't think it'd just get him shot and killed, he would've shield-bashed the hell out of the gunmen. With his wounds he didn't think he'd be able to move fast enough to get the guns not jammed against his ribs and do it, however.
"Nah. I want you alive. I've been looking for a pet that has spirit, my last one got himself killed. Mmm yeah, better'n bein a dustman right?" She sheathed her left hand blade and reached out, ripping the shield from him and tossed it aside. Her other blade sheathed then, and the men with the guns pulled them away from him and he'd feel his arms jerked none to sweetly behind his back, despite his wounds, and placed in cuffs. She stepped in so close that her scent of mead and rum mixed with almonds could be made out, and patted his cheek as she whispered. "Cause any issues, and I'll cut you into little pieces myself and feed you bit by bit to the sharks while you bleed out. You wanna live right? You are now my property."
He kept up that glare at her as she ripped the shield from him, and winced just a little when his arms were yanked behind his back and cuffed. And then she moved in of course..well what did she expect? Without
guns on him anymore and with her having sheathed at least one weapon, he snapped his forehead at the bridge of her nose in a very sudden headbutt. Well he had to get in at least one good hit, right? He didn't plan any fighting after that though, ha!
She growled as he headbutted her, and reached up with one hand to staunch the blood that flowed from her nose. "Ya bastard. You'll be sorry for that." She pulled her hand back and slapped him hard across the
face, knuckles first, no doubt leaving a bruise and cuts from the rings on her fingers. "Take him, and put 'em in my cabin, chained well." With that she walked off, holding her hand to her nose, and began overseeing the movement of the rest of the captives to the longboats that had returned. He was shoved into one himself and taken to the ship, and chained in the dark by wrists and ankles, in her dark cabin.
His head snapped to the side at that slap and he winced, blood starting to flow from those cuts. He lifted his head after a bit and glared at her as she walked off, then kept his eyes forward as he was taken to the longboat, and the ship and shoved into a cabin, just kinda..sitting there once he was chained up, because what else was he gonna do? Not much.
Once everyone was back on the ship and such, and all the longboats up and they'd began sailing away from the area the door opened and in stepped Solanine. The lamp was lit, and she ignored him for the time
being. Moving to the table she poured water into the dish and then splashed her face and washed her hands. Hair was unbraided and combed through, as she stared into a small mirror, then she began peeling off her clothing. Tunic and vest off, then her pants stripped off and tossed aside, leaving her nude, and her pointed ears visible now that her hat was off. She bent over, digging through a chest and brought out a clean white tunic and tugged it over her head, and tied up the laces then turned and stared at the fellow, a tilt to her head. "You awake?"
The shitty part about being chained up and in the dark was that it was hard to tell how much time had passed. All he really had to go on was the severity of the pain from his wounds, and that really wasn't telling him much other than they hurt. Pretty badly, at that. He winced a bit when the lamp was lit and watched her get herself naked, and then re-dressed, and when she turned his eyes were right there to meet hers. That glare hadn't really gone anywhere either, it was still all full of anger! And since he obviously was awake he decided not to answer her.
She smirked and grabbed up something up in her hand and moved towards him. He'd then see a dagger in her hand along with a little dish of something that smelled sweet. "Gonna tell me your name, or do I get to make one up for you?" Her voice was much more cultured in private than with the others, she almost seemed like a normal woman. She used the dagger to cut away his shirt, then ripped it the rest of the way off, and began rubbing the contents of the dish into the wound. "This'll make sure it doesn't get infected. I might be inclined to get the ship's healer to come heal you at some point, if you are a good boy." She smiled, and then used her dagger to cut the material away from his hip so she could slather that stuff into that wound as well. The crusted over cuts on his face, he'd just have to deal with.
He wasn't a boy! Well..maybe he was compared to her, but he was 18 at least, so there. He weighed his options at her question, and right as she was cutting away his shirt decided he'd rather not go with whatever
she came up with for him. "Grayson." He winced when she started rubbing whatever it was in that dish into his wound, and nodded when she explained it, but didn't move to help her any, he just stayed still and apart from saying his name, quiet!
"Grayson then." She didn't cut off his pants, but he was left topless for now. The dish was sat aside and she got very close to him again, and began sliding her hands around his waist, across his back and then up along his chest just feeling for scars and the like since the light wasn't all that great. Plus, she liked touching handsome men! And, to her, he was a boy since she was over a hundred years old. "This is how it's going to be, so listen. Every morning you're going to be taken on deck, given food and water, and then given a task. Scrubbing the deck, cleaning, polishing... you'll have chains but you'll be able to do the work with them. One stupid move and you'll get a bullet in the head. Please me, and we'll see what happens. I could use a good fighter."
He blinked once when she started feeling him up. Well he was nicely muscled! Not too brawny, he looked like he'd probably have a very good mix of power and agility to him when he got some more training and all! He did have a few scars, but the only wounds he'd received in an actual battle were from today, so nothing too bad..just the usual cuts and scrapes that active boys tended to get growing up. He shifted just a bit, not at all liking that he was enjoying the feel of her hands on him, and then just looked at her, as well as he could with the dim lighting, when she explained what he'd be doing. When she was finished, he spoke. "I will not help you raid any villages, so if that's what you have planned, you may as well kill me now."
"Guess what? You don't get a choice in what you'll do or not do. So we'll see won't we? If you really want your short little life to be over, then I will certainly give it to you." She leaned in close, pressing her soft cheek to his cheek and whispered. "Would certainly be a shame to waste all the potential I see in you." And that hand of hers was felt again, with a gentle caress along his body. "It doesn't have to be that bad being mine."
Well there was always a choice! He kept that thought to himself, however, and let out just a tiny shiver at her whispering. He wasn't exactly all that experienced, so just her caressing to feel if he had scars was enough to get him started. Stupid body and its betraying what his mind was telling it! He stayed quiet apart from a little 'mm'.
"Well this is progress...mmm. You like that, at least a little. That's good." She was still leaning her cheek to his, her breath warm on his ear, then turned her head to place a kiss on his cheek before pulling away a little as she gave a few more caresses to the front of his pants. "I suppose it would be good if you knew my name, so I'll tell you. My name is 'm'lady' and that's the name that better come out of your lips anytime you speak to me or I'll slap your ivories right out of your mouth."
Physically, yes, he was enjoying this quiet a bit! All that caressing, and then the image of her naked came to him unbidden, but she'd given him quite a lovely display of that body while she changed! He looked to her, still glaring, but now there was just a hint of lust mixed in with the anger. And sure, he'd remember what she said, but he didn't make any movement or speech to acknowledge it.
