Tesarik One: Any mistakes?
Tesarik One: The sleepy town of Mudhole in Ninesay Parish, Madder has never
rated a mention in any adventurer’s guide to fame and fortune. So, it is with
some surprise that a former friend and adventurer of Maria
Tesarik One: contacts her from this little hamlet located on the edge of a
swamp. The once great fighter, in his note, mentions that his retirement has
been interrupted by a strange mystery that requires her
Tesarik One: group's expertise. So, out of loyalty to an old friend, Maria
is sending you all to make your way to Mudhole to see what is going on.
Tesarik One: As usual, she has paid for a Port Mage to open a portal for you
to the town. She is also sending Logen to watch over the newer recruits and
lead the mission.
Tesarik One: Peter, Maria's old friend, is waiting in the village for you.
(Begin RP)
OnlineHost: scales change has left the room.
Tesarik One: ^v^ 8/7/2015 9:29:23 PM ^v^
Tesarik One: Gator made sure her froggy friend was ready to go, and headed
with a perk in her step towards the portal. She was a swamp shaman, therefore
going to the swamp was going to be fun, right? She loved the swamp!
Roguish Luck: The Northman had been at the Heart, receiving the information
straight from the red head's mouth. One glass of whiskey was taken from her
own hand and polished off in a single gulp. He set the glass down and quickly
made his exit.
Tesarik One: The little halfling came and gave Logen a swat on the thigh,
"Hey big guy, remember me... from the horrible mushroom place?" She smiled
brightly at him.
bunch of ribbits: Of course Fremont was ready to go! He was looking forward
to a visit back at the swamps, and another mission, so both all at once? Well
that was perfect. He had his rapier and dagger ready to go, and his shortbow
on his back with a
Dain Truesteel: Ok so he was somewhat pleased he was not as worried around
water as some of his kin. Sturdy boots landed in the solid thuds as he moved
along with the rag, tag group. Thick haft of the great axe rest across a
broad shoulder, gloved
Roguish Luck: He probably just drank his payment for the mission, but c'est
la vie. It was always fun to agitate Maria just a little bit. To Port Union
he arrived to be greeted by Gator with a slight clap. "Of course... Glad
you'll be joining us
Dain Truesteel: curled about the haft securely as he glanced between each of
the others. Thumb slid against the grain a moment before he turned looking
for the portal and was stepping on through. *D
bunch of ribbits: few arrows. The grippli looked way up at Logen when Gator
spoke to her and he waved a sticky hand at him. "Greetings, tall one. Worry
not, Gator and I will try to ensure you do not trip over things you can't see
from way up there."
SwordOfAtrophy: The swamp.... way too hot for her down there, but a job was
a job, and she would perform her duty. Lifting the shield off the floor, and
tucking it onto her arm, she was armored, heavily, so running ahead was
pretty silly, so she'd
SwordOfAtrophy: just watch with a bemused smile, and wait.
Tesarik One: Maria looked around, and just grinned at Logen, not even
worrying too much about the very expensive liquor he'd just stolen. He was
going to need it.
Roguish Luck: tonight." Gator was damn handy in tight spots and not. Eyes
fell to the anthropomorphic frog with a raised brow. He needed to stop saying
he'd seen everything because the Heart always seemed to prove him wrong.
"Greetings." Suppose
Roguish Luck: he'd wait at the portal for the lot of them to arrive. [d]
Tesarik One: "Let's go!" She darted for the portal, and cartwheeled through
it, landing right at the feet of Peter. She hopped up, and adjusted her
staff, and stared up at the man. She stepped aside, then, since Logen was
their fearless leader.
Roguish Luck: [Change of color.]
bunch of ribbits: He walked along, but didn't do any crazy cartwheels, but
he did hop through the portal, landing near Gator and also staring up at the
fella, then moved out of the way of the portal so nobody squished him coming
through. Logen looked
bunch of ribbits: like the sorta guy that could step on something two feet
tall and not notice!
Dain Truesteel: And on through the portal he was stepping, the axe dropped
with a thud of the endcap near his feet. Fingers curled just beneath the
angular head as he glanced over his shoulder towards the portal waiting. Hey
they did have a lead
Dain Truesteel: point so might as well have him speak up right? *D
Tesarik One: "A frog, a halfling, a giant, a dwarf and a lady walk into a
tavern...." Gator tapped her fingers on her staff and grinned over to
Fremont. She then wiggled the fingers of her free hand to the fellow she
didn't know, and the lady.
SwordOfAtrophy: A nod, a partial smile for the little lady, which was about
all the warmth she possessed, either racially or emotionally at this point in
time. Taking a moment to step through the portal to arrive in.. the swamp.
Yay.
Roguish Luck: The group went on and Logen followed in step with the Bastard
peace tied upon his hip. As soon as he stepped through, he was immediately
grateful for shaving his beard. The thick air of Madder never sat well with
Logen. Cold, crisp
bunch of ribbits: "Ha! That doesnt' sound like a story with a happy ending."
He squished his toes into the ground if it was muddy enough, since it'd been
quite some time since he did that. Of course, that eye-searingly red coat
wouldn't be so
bunch of ribbits: ridiculous if it got all muddy, so he cinched it up a bit
more to keep it well off the ground. His trousers, well..not much he could do
about those.
Tesarik One: Well the town was named Mudhole for a reason.
Roguish Luck: air was favored over the stagnant smell of the swamp lands.
Once eyes adjusted to the shift of scenery, he spotted Peter and made his
approach.[d]
Dain Truesteel: At the wiggle of fingers he would turn giving a bow of his
head towards the halfling, "greetings," he then looked towards the Peter
fellow while the taller lead point approached. Free hand moved to hook the
thumb beneath the thick
Dain Truesteel: leather belt as he waited patiently. *D
Tesarik One: Peter anxiously greets you all as you enter the village.
Leading you along, it becomes obvious that people seem to want to avoid you -
a number of doors slam as you pass by. He explains that strange
Tesarik One: creatures plague Mudhole and it is believed that one of them
has carried off a little boy by the name of Timmy Flyspeck.
Tesarik One: You stop in front of a particular house at the edge of town:
Timmy’s house. The aging warrior says that he believes the boy may still be
alive and there may be clues in this home, but the boy’s
Tesarik One: father, while offering a reward for his son’s return, strangely
refuses to speak to anyone.
Tesarik One: Peter pauses, in case there are any questions from him before
he heads off--
Tesarik One: for him*
bunch of ribbits: He tried to pay attention, he really did, but it was the
swamp! Certainly there were bugs whizzing about, and he could use a snack.
Every so often as they walked along, his tongue shot out of his mouth to
snatch up a tasty flying
bunch of ribbits: critter, and into his mouth they all went. The doors
slamming was a bit odd, what with two of them from the area! Oh well, not
everyone was polite.
SwordOfAtrophy: Well that was odd. She mused inwardly, noting the slamming
doors. She didn't even really mind the mud, metal tended to come clean pretty
easy. No questions aside from the obvious came to mind, so she stayed silent,
looking at the
Tesarik One: Gator followed along behind the big people, drawing in the
scent of the swamp deeply with a big smile. She dug into a pouch and pulled
out a few supplies just in case she needed to make a voodoo dolly on the
quick, and then stuffed
Tesarik One: it back into the pouch. She was a cheerful little shaman, oddly
enough. When they stopped in front of Timmy's house, she hopped up trying to
peek into the windows as she listened to them talk.
SwordOfAtrophy: home of the kidnapped boy. She didn't have skills to help,
mostly, anyway. And stomping around in fifty pounds of gold was more likely
to hinder than help.
Dain Truesteel: "Strange creatures? What type of strange creatures would
this be or has any caught glimpse fully?" He turned towards the door and once
more shouldered the axe before looking back towards Peter.
Dain Truesteel: *D
Tesarik One: "Well, some says it's a lion whats out there, some says it's a
dragon and some are saying it's just a really ugly troll of a man. Some claim
it's monstrous rats. That's 'bout all I know."
bunch of ribbits: "Oh! You can stand on my shoulders, Gator." He moved over
so she could climb up onto his shoulders and peek into the window better!
Tesarik One: She climbed up on Fremont's shoulders and tried to peer inside!
Roguish Luck: Good. Someone was asking questions. Logen could move on
towards the house to set his massive hand rapping at the front door. His
voice remained silent.[d]
Tesarik One: All the curtains were pulled tight! Roll a Spot to see if you
can make out anything through a small crack in the curtains.
OnlineHost: Tesarik One rolled 1 20-sided die: 12
Tesarik One: +7 = 19
Dain Truesteel: That dark brow just perked and he gave a single nod to the
man, "thank you for the information." Yeah that helped some, "so how long has
the boy been missing and in what direction do they think he was taken?" He
looked over towards
Tesarik One: "Hey there's a man in there! Oh, he's coming to the door now!"
She hopped down and went to stand behind Logen's legs to peer around.
Dain Truesteel: the large man then back over and up to Peter. *D
Tesarik One: Soon, a voice called out behind the door, "Go away. If you find
m'boy, I'll pay ya, off with you now."
OnlineHost: RageofNocturne has entered the room.
Tesarik One: That is all Peter can offer, and he wishes you all luck and
leaves you to the task - whatever that may be!
bunch of ribbits: He moved over as well to look at the door, then huffed a
bit at what the fella had to say. "And how do you expect us to find your boy
if you'll tell us nothing about him, sir?"
Tesarik One: "That's what I'm paying you for. Now, go away!!" There was
shuffling and it was evident the man had moved away from the door.
SwordOfAtrophy: "It could very well be.. anything, it seems. Hopefully
something not ready to eat. Perhaps there are tracks around here.. but damned
if I could figure them out. I'm more suited for snow than swamp."
OnlineHost: RageofNocturne has left the room.
SwordOfAtrophy: (brb)
OnlineHost: RageofNocturne has entered the room.
Dain Truesteel: He just gave a slow, exhale of breath. "A platinum coin in a
vault of silver coins I tell you," he just shook his head and looked toards
the gathering at the door. "Either we drag em out by the ear or we start
lookin for a lions
Roguish Luck: "Mister Flyspeck, allow us entry to examine the room he was
taken from. It could help us in finding your boy." At first, he'd be
diplomatic. His next statement was more quiet and directed to the other four.
"It's always best to play
Tesarik One: "Well, that's rude," She tapped her staff onto the ground and
looked around at the group.
Dain Truesteel: tracks,..or maybe a dragons. Bah even a humans tracks,." he
just gave a growl.

Or just some weird thing nobody's ever seen. Oo, imagine if we discovered a
new creature!"
Tesarik One: "Bah." And then there was a click of the door and it slowly
opened just a crack. "Come in then."
Tesarik One: "Oooh, a manticore, that would be fun!"
Roguish Luck: And magically, someone found Logen's attempt at diplomacy
pleasing. He would gesture to the others to enter before he did.[d]
Tesarik One: Gator used her staff to open the door the rest of the way, and
then would be the first to stroll across the threshold into the room.
Dain Truesteel: He just moved on over, the endcap of the staff used to knock
some of the mud off his boots before stepping on in. Hey was trying to be
nice,..figured that would help some right? *D
Tesarik One: The threshold is trapped, and quite powerfully.... with a
Peacebound Trap. If your weapon is sheathed, you CANNOT draw it inside the
house. If your weapon is in hand, it will not do any harm.
Tesarik One: You all can feel the magic as you enter.
bunch of ribbits: He followed in shortly behind Gator, big green eyes
looking about the place. And no he didn't bother to get rid of the mud on his
feet. If one didn't want mud in the house, they ought to not live in the
swamp!
RageofNocturne: :: Adam who managed to go unnoticed until now which was

Tesarik One: "Well... well that's a bit odd, ain't it?" she whispered over
to Fremont as she felt the surge of powerful magic, being a magic user
herself it made her stare hard at Mr. Flyspeck.

unlikely she was about to start swinging anyway. She stepped carefully
inside, remaining in the back, near the door, to be the first one anyone came

Dain Truesteel: A grunt at the wash of magic and he looked over towards the

something did decide to pay a visit and use teeth and nail against them. The

bunch of ribbits: "It made all my hairs stand up." Which was his way of
saying he really hadn't felt anything! He wasn't very sensitive to magic
stuff like that, and he didn't intend to draw his weapon anyhow. But he had
felt something at least. Just
bunch of ribbits: hadn't the foggiest what it was.
Tesarik One: "That's Timmy's room," he said gruffly and pointed to a door
down a short hallway. The house was fairly well furnished, the family seemed
to have a bit of money.
Roguish Luck: Logen remained outside to light a cigar taken from a hidden
compartment. It was nice going on a mission without armor.[d]
RageofNocturne: :: He looked around the house only to step outside and
looked around blinking then back inside feeling the wash of magic over
himself again he tilted his head and stepped back out-- Feel something when
walking inside....strange feel
Tesarik One: She stared at Mr. Flyspeck a few more minutes then moved on
down to Timmy's room, motioning the others to come with her. Stepping in, she
began to search around for anything that might help them.
RageofNocturne: s. --he said and looked to Logen as the man went about
smokin his cigar-D-
Tesarik One: It is obvious upon entry into his room that Timmy had a
fascination with ...frogs. Numerous of the amphibians live in cages around
his room. Other than that, it appears rather ordinary.
Tesarik One: Anyone in Timmy's room, roll a Search.
Dain Truesteel: Well he was just trailing along,..yes not having to be in

after it had lit the cigar. A sudden fog of vanilla scented smoke billowed
from words.[d]
Dain Truesteel: Well,..he had heard from a distant relative that licking
certain frogs had mind altering effects!
Tesarik One: Oh dear.
SwordOfAtrophy: "Harmless, I assure you." Dana spoke, assuredly. She was

fact, both Adam and Gator can tell it's coming from under a rug that a table
sits upon!
Tesarik One: "Hey! Did you hear that Monty?" she rushed out of the room and
peered around the main room, then narrowed her eyes as she caught sight of
the table and rug. She pointed to it, "Did ya hear that old Flyspeck? What's

Tesarik One: table?"
Tesarik One: "I didn't hear anything," Mr. Flyspeck folds his arms and

hearing the thumping and well he would bum rush the main room and looked

turned in time to see the table flipped. "Well, that was hardly necessary..."
Tesarik One: Mr. Flyspeck moved out of the way, though he wasn't afraid of
being harmed with the spell in place. He sat down in a chair, arms folded, as
Adam uncovered a trap door.
Dain Truesteel: He turned moving after the group and watched as the table
flipped to the side adn the crouching. Moving on over, he would raise the axe
and thumped the endcap down where the table had sat,..just to see if it was
hollow.
Dain Truesteel: Or you know a trap door he was thumping on,..maybe someone
would knock back!
Tesarik One: Nope, no knock back, but the trap door wasn't locked so it
could be opened!
RageofNocturne: :: He looked to Dain who was well standing over where he was
crouching knocking the same door he had. He moved off of the trap door and
knocked around the wood again of the floor speaking first in his well less

RageofNocturne: me there one? --he asked and tilted his head-D-
Tesarik One: "You don't even act as if you really wish your boy to be found,
you aren't being very helpful, hmph!" She moved over with the group to the
trap door, and tilted her head back to the man speaking...common? "Just open
it."
bunch of ribbits: "Goodness, a trap door." He looked over to Flyspeck.
"Where does that go? And was it making noise?"
Tesarik One: Flyspeck shrugged to Fremont, arms folded.
Dain Truesteel: Well he just dropped to a knelt postion and was grasping the
door and pulling it up. Hey figured he was best of all to do it right?
Something lunges out,..he can lunge right back into the trap door. "Already
doing so."
Tesarik One: The trap door leads down to a workshop filled with broken vials
and scattered spell components. If it weren't obvious yet, it is certainly
obvious now that Mr. Flyspeck is a mage, though any
Tesarik One: conversation with him about it causes him to deny it. On a
counter along one wall is a wand, and a boy's shirt is ripped open at the
seams. There is a door in the wall opposite the ladder used to descend into
Tesarik One: the shop -- it is just now swinging shut!
Dain Truesteel: And as he did he slid the axe back,..yeah he wasnt to
magical in nature but he could tell when something tinkered with one of his
creations,..and well a dwarf was as dangerous with fists as they were with a
weapon. Hanging upside
Roguish Luck: Standing in the door way now, he managed to leer at the group.
A nod of acknowledgement for finding the door. "Mister Flyspeck, a word?"[d]
Tesarik One: There's a ladder going down into the shop btw.
Dain Truesteel: down intime to see the door shut he took the axe up and just
rolled on over dropping down into the room to land in a crouch and was moving
over towards the door frowning. "Someone is leaving." Yeah he had used it to
slow his fall,..
Tesarik One: With a grunt, he rose upwards and moved to the doorway - but
did not cross it. "Yes?"
Dain Truesteel: some! Reaching over he would take the shirt and wand
frowning and whoever was coming down next the shirt was tossed to,..he would
inspect the wand,..but right now he moved for the door and was pressing it
open. *D
Tesarik One: "Hey Logen, there's a magery room down here, and someone just
left by a door, should we follow??" she called out to Logen.
SwordOfAtrophy: She watched, coming to an understanding why this was a
hidden trap door. Some places frowned on magic being used willy nilly,
especially small hamlets where it could spiral out of control. No sense in
trying to cluster down the
Tesarik One: Does anyone have a loot item or spell that would tell you what
type of wand it is?

prints down here, one is a wee one the other,..not the first clue." *D
Tesarik One: Yes, he was intimidated, and cleared his throat, then
whispered, "Just me mage's shop, tha's all."
Roguish Luck: "Good." He then stepped in to the house, carrying his cigar
with him. He'd follow the others down the ladder, rather he simply dropped
rather than climbed.[d]
Tesarik One: She climbed on down before Logen appeared in the hole, and
peeked around herself, then quickly began heading for the swinging door to
follow whatever had been inside.
bunch of ribbits: "Oh hey, frog tracks!" He pointed at the weird set. "I
don't know what those are, though." Said with a point to the obvious kid's
set, ha!
Tesarik One: She did stop to grab the wand and give it a shake, but it
didn't seem to be working.
Tesarik One: No charges left.
Dain Truesteel: He looked back to the frog man and tipped his head, "frog
tracks?" He then was moving on out the door and frowned. "Why do I get this
odd feeling in me gut?" *D
Tesarik One: The door opens into a long tunnel with another door at the
opposite end which now stands wide open. There are four doors along the
corridor, each opening into a small storage room (peeking in shows
Tesarik One: nothing but items stored, the dust not touched). The door at
the end opens inward from the side of a hill into a clearing at the edge of
the swamp.
SwordOfAtrophy: And she brought up the rear, trying not to cause any undue
damage, ladders were always iffy. Shield at the ready. "Often a feeling that
accompanies being deceived, my lord."
bunch of ribbits: "I wonder if he took one of his frogs with him somewhere."
He peered through the door that the dwarf was heading down, but the dwarf was
probably the worst one to try and look around, what with being taller than
him, and stocky
bunch of ribbits: enough that it was hard to look around them. Oh well. "Did
you eat some bad food?"
Tesarik One: Mr. Flyspeck climbs down after Logen and looks around, looking
a big grim now instead of angry.
Dain Truesteel: "No just two and two together from what you have said,..and

can jump and hop." He grumbled the last under his breath as he headed for the
door standing on

the swamp. "Magic and lads should not be mixed," gray eyes squinted some

Tesarik One: The sounds of insects fill your ears as well as the many voices
of the frogs living there. You don't see anyone around. Seeing Timmy's torn
shirt, Mr. Flyspeck finally breaks down. He confesses to
Tesarik One: once being an adventuring mage who gave it up to start a family
in this far-away little town. His wife passed away when Timmy was very young
and he, wanting to fit in and provide a good home for his son,
Tesarik One: decided to
Tesarik One: hide his former profession from the neighbors. He hid his old
equipment in the workshop he built, going down from time to time to reminisce
and research. Timmy must’ve found out because one day,
Tesarik One: after returning from the market, Mr. Flyspeck found the trap
door open, his workshop a mess, and the discharged wand of polymorph. Fearing
the worst, he searched for his son and used his magic to cause
Tesarik One: the townsfolk to believe there
Tesarik One: were hideous creatures on the prowl to keep them away from the
swamp.
RageofNocturne: en looked to the others only to look to Mr. Flyspeck and
blinked a bit-D-
Tesarik One: "Why in the hells didn't you just say that from the beginning?
Geez!" she put her hands on her little hips and shook her head, then darted
out of the last door and peered around.
bunch of ribbits: "Well, thankfully we have a person here who is perfectly
capable of jumping and hopping, and who knows swamps rather well." He puffed
out his chest with pride at that, then moved out into the clearing, smiling a
little frog smile,
Dain Truesteel: "The larger tracks that are frog like belong to Timmy," this
directed to the lost looking fellow as he poked his head back in the door
then looked to the halfling. "Again will be a trick tracking him." He then
looked towards the
bunch of ribbits: then spotted a big tasty bug flying about. Eyes followed
it, then he ate it up! Poor guy had no idea what Flyspeck had just gone on
about.
Dain Truesteel: frog fellow, "then it is a good thing we do have you good
sir on this outting is it not." He then looked around, "because hopping and
jumping is not one of my specialties."
Dain Truesteel: *D

cook'em in a pan with some butter, salt and pepper. Watch them legs dance in
the skillet. He followed after the others in to the clearing.[d]

even after the rats have fled. Pushing through the brush a

in agreement. "Sometimes those you help aren't inclined to appease your
request... Coax'em in to it, or scare'em in to it. Just no harm should fall
to them." Poopin the
Roguish Luck: pants doesn't qualify as harm. They do that to themselves.[d]
bunch of ribbits: Was the dwarf being called small when there were a couple
people there about half his size? Well, that was..interesting."Wait, did
somebody attack old Flycatcher or whatever his name was and I missed it?"
SwordOfAtrophy: " I don't recall such a thing occuring, though my eyes and
my memory are oft astray when I need them to be."
Dain Truesteel: "Aye and with a swamp mystic and a woman in full armor the
lad could have been brought back to the tunnel easily enough while the
manticore was busy with a few,..more difficult meals to bite into." And to
make his point walked over
SwordOfAtrophy: *to be astute.
Tesarik One: "Hmm." She tapped her chin, thinking about what the dwarf was
saying, and Logen was saying. "Right, right. No, we just yelled at him I
think?" She was forgetful... it was a magic quirk. She furrowed her brow and
shrugged. "But, a

to make it ring with a vibration then nodded towards Logen in agreement as
well to the coax em or scare em. "Or just throw them over a shoulder and lug
them off." *D
Tesarik One: happy ending, except for the manticore."
Roguish Luck: "No, no one attacked Mister Flyspeck." Logen did give him an
ultimatum, but didn't hurt him. Eyes set to the grippli for a moment. Still
odd, the sight. "Just remember, keep your hands to yourself and death threats
at bay. It does
Roguish Luck: not bode well for business." A glance betwen the lot of them
was given, "All in all, I wasn't necessary. You all did very well."[d]
bunch of ribbits: "Yelling at people isn't attacking them at all." He nodded
at that, then looked up at Logen. Then he caughed and reached into his mouth
to pull a feather out of his throat, tossing it aside. "Nobody got hurt but
for the crazed beast
bunch of ribbits: that didn't run when given the chance, so I'd say that's
its own fault, anyhow.
Tesarik One: She poked Logen in the knee with her staff, "Always necessary
to look menacing if nothing else, friend." She grinned, then turned and began
to head back to town, where the portal point was still waiting for them.
RageofNocturne: :: He nodded a bit-- Did talk for it leave. It no want to,
want keep fighting. It make choice. --he said and nodded a bit about the
manticore and shifted the hide on his shoulders and looked around a bit-D-
Dain Truesteel: He turned and was following along, axe once more used as a
walking stick. He didnt mind getting muddy,..just you know when your legs are
so long and you are not the lightest you do sink in! *D
Dain Truesteel: "It would have just moved off, licked its wounds than found
another to hunt and devour and we would have been sent off into this swamp
again later on when it was not a wee one."
bunch of ribbits: He was walking through so much mud one might think he was
intentionally moving to the muddiest spots on purpose. One would be correct
if they did think that. Maria might not be happy when he went back to the
inne and tracked it
bunch of ribbits: everywhere!
Dain Truesteel: Ever the optimist!
Tesarik One: No, no she wouldn't, nor would Hana. But what could she do,
she'd hired a froggy guy.
Tesarik One: The portal was there waiting, and the town had some gold to pay
them for getting rid of the manticore! Job well done.
