OH Quest: Skysea Tomb, Part 3

Summary: When Lord Akhataten and his favored concubine, Hetekepsah, died of old age, they were buried according to custom in a secret and well-guarded tomb, their earthly treasures gathered nearby to purchase godhood in the afterlife. Recently, a sandstorm of particular violence raged across the desert. In its aftermath, many communities were scattered and much damage was dealt. However, the doorway to a previously undiscovered ancient tomb was unearthed. Insignias on the portal lead scholars to believe that the tomb is none other than that of Akhataten, fabled desert pharaoh of yesteryear, whose resting place has been a perfect secret these last thousand years.

Part 1: The group arrives at the Skysea, and makes camp. Raiders attack! One gets away, two surrender, and two die at our hands. The Musketeer and the Warrior are tied up and surrendered. When it gets dark, the glass sea will cool enough for us to travel to the island in its midst.

Part 2: The glassy skysea is crossed and the entrance on the island found and marked as Akhataten's tomb. A Searing Exposure trap is sprung, damaging everyone in some way! They enter with the assistance of their rogue, Akaash, and move into an old garden where an Ironthorn Tree attacks. Skirting the tree, they find a room with tiny stars engraved in the ceiling and writing around an empty fountain that reads, "A passage to Lord Akhataten is achieved only through offering oneself as a sacrifice to the sacred scarabs." They find dust, and then a room with a carpet of black undead death scarabs which attack Ella and Gar.

Part 3: A room full of fallen plaster from once-amazing frescoes is found along with the desiccated husks of three creatures whom suck the very moisture from those they attack. They are destroyed, and treasure found in stone chests. In a secret room, Akaash and Gar find the sarcophagus of a priest-turned-spectre with the Memphet-Ra greatsword. Another room of death scarabs is found, and more treasure! They all end up inside an onyx chamber with a fountain of scarabs... that devours Ralen and Gabriel!

Tesarik One: Ok just for continuity's sake I'm gonna give our summary of
what's happened so far. It's the same thing that is on the last receipt so if
you read it then and remember, don't have to read. It's good to have in the
log though.

SoI Knight: [And just so you remeber, +2 endurance is up on Ralen due to a
spell. ]

Tesarik One: Ok, so a little bit of treasure has been found in the
sarcophagus that was covered with the undead death scarabs. Fire has
destroyed the scarab swarm - as far as any of you know at least. (Start rp)

SoI Knight: ::With the rom cleared, Ralen looked down at the many bugs that
were now deceased. Not knowing that it wasn't a permeante thing he'd shrug a
bit and turned to head out. Navigating his way towards [Room 5 in the
south]::[d]
SoI Knight:
Tesarik One: Ralen, are you navigating back through [HASH]3 to get to that [HASH]5?
SoI Knight: [ left door to the south first.]
Tesarik Five: With the scarabs dead, burnt crispy as it were, he fluttered
down to one of them and tilted his head to the side. Nudging it just a bit
with his bow, then his foot, he then reached out and poked it with his
finger. Odd bug. Hmm.
SoI Knight: [then down the west passage. turning east. south through the
door. east to the room 5]
Tesarik One: All of the rooms marked 5 are empty save for mounds of dust
piles. Dark and empty.
SoI Knight: ::Getting to the next room with nothing there. He'd continue to
look around and then slowly pressing forward to [Room 4!]
Tesarik Five: Oh well! Up he went once more and off to get back with the
others. Looking about he huffed just a touch, still pretty hot but he'd
manage as best he could. "I don't like those things."
Mighty Gar thog: ~GarThog had collected some in a container, thinking ewelry
construction. He searches the chamber now, for secret doors, passages, etc~
psionic wanderer: Yep, continuing ahead rather than backtracking was a good
plan! He'd just follow Ralen, keeping Hana'lee nice and handy in case she was
needed.
Tesarik One: Talasyn shivered just a little seeing all those damn undead
bugs, and scratched her neck as she turned and headed back with the group.
She'd made sure everyone was healed, that was her job here after all.
SoI Knight: ::They coudl be used for undead beetle make up? ::
Tesarik One: There is nothing else of use in Room [HASH]6, no secret doors,
passages or anything. Just an empty sarcophagus.
RageofNocturne: :: Gabriel holstered his pistols then looked around as he
left the sarcophagus room and made his way down into the southern hallway 5
and stepped along and into southern room 6. He looked to the empty
sarcophagus and lifted a brow--
Tesarik One: There is a door, and it is locked into Room [HASH]4.
SwordOfAtrophy: He'd meander along, keeping the healer close by, letting
Ralen be the hero this time. He couldn't always be the charge leader, that
was just silly and selfish.
Mighty Gar thog: ~He tapped it, being careful not to harm it, then would
follow the others~
RageofNocturne: Hmm...an empty one...--he said and would put his hands on it
to try and read the object-D- Clairvoyance to read the items past)
SoI Knight: ::Feeling that the door was locked. Ralen stared at it for a
moment.:: Don't suppose anyone wants to give try and disable this door's
device? [d]
SwordOfAtrophy: "I could, though it's far from my expertise."
RageofNocturne: :: He lifted his hands-- Lets get a move on...this thing
will summon more of those scarabs in about five hours..--he said and moved to
room 7 and stepped in-D-
psionic wanderer: He had wandered into the vicinity of the southern 6, in
that little hallway just to the north of it, mostly to see what was there
rather than go back in the direction of the entrance, at least if his sense
of direction was
psionic wanderer: working properly.
Tesarik One: You can't go into Room 7.
Mighty Gar thog: ~GarThog would wait until Gabriel finished, before leaving
the bug room~
Tesarik One: The group has gone to 4 so let's try and stay together please.
I'm only one DM.
SoI Knight: ::He'd nodded towards Ellis as he stepped away from the door. He
already got them all sun burned once, best leave this to someone a bit
more...handy with their hands and locks.:: [d]
RageofNocturne: :: Or rather stopped at the entrance of room 7 and looked
over it then turned and made his way back for room 4-D-
Tesarik One: You don't see an entrance to Room 7 either. It is a seeeeecret
room.
Tesarik One: That's what "S" means.

SoI Knight: [oh thats what the S means. Thought it meant sealed. xD]
Mighty Gar thog: (lol old ad&d players know the great S)
psionic wanderer: Well as much as he might want to, it might not be best if
he left these people to their own devices. Over to 4 it was, then. Well, the
door into 4 anyhow.
Tesarik Five: Flying just a little bit ccloser to Ellis the fairy gave a few
slow looks around. His wings almost humming with the speed they flapped on
his back as it were. "Wheres this silly old dead man at? Or
shineys....Or..Or..Or whatever it
Mighty Gar thog: ~Seeing everyone stopped at the locked door, GarThog just
watched their locksmith~
Tesarik Five: is we want here!" Another huff. Yeah, hot. Even wiped a bit of
sweat off his brow then.
SwordOfAtrophy: "Alrighty...let's hope I don't blow myself up." He knelt
down, using his little metal bits to try and pick the lock open.

psionic wanderer: He shrugged a bit. "It's not trapped." If someone else was
going to try and pick the lock with improper tools, well..that was their
business.
Tesarik One: The door remains locked. There was a bit of a click....but it
does not open.
Tesarik One: Someone else can try. Maybe the rogue?
Tesarik Five: (Silly talk!_

SwordOfAtrophy: If someone wanted to wander off on his own, and not do his
job, he didn't really have the right to complain. Ellis stood up. "Maybe I
got it halfway..?"
Mighty Gar thog: ~GarThog was still staring at Akaash, waiting on him toopen
that lock~
psionic wanderer: The breeze around Akaash picked up a bit at that and he
wrinkled his nose behind his good ol' scarved up face. "Move." He folded
Hana'lee back up and slung her onto his back, then produced his tools and
crouched on down to eye the
SoI Knight: Maybe. ::He said as he looked over towards Ellis and just
shrugged a bit. Hearing the other guy sound like a bad ass with his command
of "Move", he'd just stand next to Ellis. Stared and shrugged.:: [d]
psionic wanderer: lock, in hopes that it hadn't been all messed up. Then
well..why not try to pick it? Other than the fact that he stood a much better
chance, but oh well.

RageofNocturne: :: He would stand and watch them trying to unlock the door
and lifted a brow as the other worked on it then moved to take his pistols

SwordOfAtrophy: Because +13 was so much worse than +14.
psionic wanderer: That done, he withdrew his lockpicks and tucked them back
into their belt pouch, then stood back and gestured to the door, before
getting his weapon off of his back once again.
SoI Knight: ::Seeing that the amazing rouge [with his +1 more] rocked the
door. Ralen nodded.:: You still did alot of the heavy work Ellis. ::A pat to
the back was given before making his way forward to see what was on the
inside.:: [d]
Mighty Gar thog: ~The dragon in hybrid form just smiled. He forgot that he
was one of the best beings alive, when it came to deftness of hand, and just
waited now~
psionic wanderer: (didn't stand* stupid fingers)
SwordOfAtrophy: He shrugged. "Meh, not important, doors open."
psionic wanderer: "Yes, and you're all doing a magnificent job of standing
around not going through it."
SoI Knight: ::Was going through it...::
SwordOfAtrophy: "Said someone who is also not moving."
Tesarik One: Said it was unlocked, never said it could open ha! There is
something holding it, but if you push hard enough you can push it open. It's
as if...garbage...dust...sand... is holding the door shut.
psionic wanderer: "It's generally poor tactics to send in the frail man with
the ranged weapon into an unexplored room first."
SoI Knight: ::Seeing that the door was not fully budging, his eye's narrowed
a bit and went to push it with his strength.:: [Strength check?]
Tesarik One: "Gods, men. I'll go through first if I have to!" She had her
hands on her hips listening to them all, and shook her head, snickering.
Mighty Gar thog: ~He nodded to Akaash~ Agreed.
SwordOfAtrophy: "It's also poor manners for a half dozen people to bum rush
a door."
Tesarik One: It's not so stuck as to need a check, just give it a push!
SoI Knight: ::Annnnd pushes it.::
SwordOfAtrophy: "Besides, Ralens doing a fine job being the meat shield. And
he hasn't even gotten in yet."
SoI Knight: ::Because pushing ways in through holes was a favored
activity....::
Tesarik Five: Warren looked back and forth between the others as they seemed
a bit....Grouchy? Hmm. Well maybe they just needed a game to play to make
them all feel better? Anyway, Warren couldn't open any of those doors, hell,
he could barely
SoI Knight: pushing his way in*
Mighty Gar thog: ~the dragon had to laugh when Ellis said that~
psionic wanderer: At least there was some mild amusement to watching the
other guy struggle with the door. Though the breeze around him was picking up
enough that he did take a minute to calm himself, his clothes not ceasing
their fluttering entirely
psionic wanderer: but it did die down.
Tesarik One: This is as large as the Dead Garden room, quite large in fact,
and the floor is covered in piles of varying height of what looks to be dust,
sand, and piles of plaster. A peek up at the ceiling reveals bits and pieces
of plaster
Tesarik Five: open a doggy door what with his size and all. So he waited,
flying near it with weapon at the ready, as he normaly was in new and
unexplored rooms of places they went. But when it was pushed open right on in
he went! Looking around
Tesarik Five: quickly as he darted from left to right and back again just to
get a good look at things.
Tesarik One: still stuck on the ceiling, as it used to be a gorgeous and
massive fresco upon the ceiling but over time it has fallen in piles over the
entire room. The frescoes are too overtaken by dust and destruction to be
readable.
Tesarik One: Please roll a Spot (assuming everyone is still using something
to see).

Tesarik One: Spots - 18+ You can make out stone chests along some of the
walls, or varying sizes, by catching glimpse of corners and such poking from
the garbage on the floor.
Tesarik One: 22+ You not only see the chests... but you see several....
bodies. Maybe it's bodies? They look awful dessicated. One of them looks
rather huge, poking from the piles of garbage.
SoI Knight: More things to open up. ::Ralen stated as he saw each of the
chests along the walls.:: But also dead bodies..........::His eye's narrowed
down at this realization.:: [d]
Tesarik One: 26+ Yeah, there's 2 regular sized dessicated bodies in here...
and one about 8 foot tall! (since someone rolled pretty damn high)
SwordOfAtrophy: (you did too!)
Tesarik One: someones*
SoI Knight: [;.; 1 off.]
Mighty Gar thog: ~garthog tried to ever so delicately move some of the
plaster aside, trying not to break it. He wanted to recronstruct it later~
Tesarik Five: After a bit of looking he gave a wide smile. Chest things!
They normally had shinies in them! So darting over to one of the chests
exposed edges he landed on it and gave a few shuffled of his hands to knock
away a bit of a debris on
Tesarik One: As Gar touches the plaster it turns to dust.
SwordOfAtrophy: "Chests.. and.. corpses.. thats.. a big man there...
Treasure chamber? Storage room? More inclined to A, since the whole ceiling
painting thing." He slipped into the room, though not far, just to clear the
door while observing.
Tesarik One: "Dear me, those are bodies... " She moved towards the entrance
again, peering in for the moment. She didn't want to have to face any of
those creatures if they started moving.
psionic wanderer: "Best make sure the corpses aren't going to get up before
getting too close."
Tesarik One: Corpses get up? Oh come on.... what is this, a creepy tomb?
Tesarik Five: top. Not that it really did all that much sense he wasn't
really big enough to move much. But hey! He was trying at least! "Bodies?!?
Get up?" Blinkblink. Oh well that wasn't good.
SwordOfAtrophy: "Well I didn't bring my matches, though fire might turn this
place into an inferno. So if you have any way on keeping them down other than
flames, I'm all ears."
Tesarik One: Of course they get up. As they move in and start moving
plaster, the corpses begin to move and rise and dust falls away from them.
They are mere husks, dessicated creatures who are drawn to the moisture in
their bodies. Puckered
Tesarik One: mouths wanting to suck them dry. The giantkin husk rises, dust
and particles falling away from his dried up body. Even being close to these
creatures seems to pull what moisture you have in your body towards them,
parching your
Tesarik One: throat.
psionic wanderer: "Not disturb them in the first place would've been a
start." And well..he felt validated about not going in there, since his
breeze picked up once again and the dust around the entrance was starting to
blow around unpleasantly.
psionic wanderer: Having that go on around the whole room wouldn't be fun at
all.
RageofNocturne: :: He would notice the bodies after they were pointed out by
the others and more so when they began moving!-- Ahh... i hate mummies...--he
said and all Richard O' Connell style aimed with both guns at the biggest
one-D-
SoI Knight: ::At least they couldn't say it was the Fighter.::
Mighty Gar thog: ~GarThog was nearly in tears at the plaster dissolving at
his touch. He wanted to preserve that ancient artwork! Then, he decided he
would need to have a chronomancer come and restore it. That idea cheered him~
Tesarik One: One of the smaller forlorn husks lumbered towards Ralen,
slamming his skeletal body against him. (Slam + dehydrating aura)
Tesarik Five: They kept saying to go in the room before the door was
open...So when the door opened, now they want to complain about people going
in? Hogwash and popelbobs! Warren did what was asked! Now HMPH! Ok, so they
might not exactly be

SoI Knight: ::Ralen watched as the one husk went flying to one of the sides
and just stared for a moment.:: Seems their pretty fast on their feet.
::Though his eye's went to focus on [Giant Forlon Husk]. Eye's narrowing down
as the movements of
SoI Knight: the foe were read.:: [Armor's gap - Turn ends]
Tesarik One: The creature seemed to be trying to talk, but it was so parched
it could not speak. Only dust came out of it's mouth.
SoI Knight: ::Someone should have been the water boy and q-q-quench his
thrist.::
Tesarik One: It has no armor, but you can see where it might be easy to hit
in certain weak spots.
Tesarik One: Warren-
Tesarik Five: Warren gave a bit of a gasp as the bodies started to get up,
and then his hand quickly drew back on his bow while it was lifted, aiming

making it smaller if need be, then put it away before he giggled and clapped

no they aren't created yet. But [HASH]6 to the South, hasn't been entered yet.

Tesarik One: They would both see a spectre inside the sarc, sorta hovering
above/inside of it's mummified body. A large greatsword lay at its side. It
did not seem to be able to leave the sarc save for where it could reach.

Tesarik One: It had a beautiful faience and gemstone neck piece on the mummy
and golden arm bands, and a sigil of some ancient god.
psionic wanderer: "Well...that's an unexpected obstacle." He moved back a
bit and eyed the sword, then produced his parchment again and eyed it, then
the sword, before tucking the parchment away. "I need that sword."
Tesarik One: Ok for the folks going into $9 from the secret door---

Mighty Gar thog: Why? ~GarThog would step back, in front of Akaash, to
shield him~
Tesarik One: Within this black room a black fountain of carapaces surges
upward, only to fall back into a bowl of scrabbling scarab beetles numbering
in the thousands. Several large blocks of onyx are scattered randomly
throughout the chamber.
Tesarik One: The Blue-black beetles, larger than normal scarabs, do not
attempt to leave the fountain's bowl.
Tesarik One: If anyone has True Seeing, IM me.
SwordOfAtrophy: "That... looks like a big bowl of not fun... I suppose those
are the sacrificial scarabs."
RageofNocturne: :: He looked at the fountain-- What was that saying....offer
ourselves to the scarabs right? --he asked and looked at the fountain and
stepped over--D-
psionic wanderer: "Because Maria sent me here for a different reason than
she sent all of you here, that's why." As far as he was concerned they were
all his escort, ha! "I suppose I could shoot the ghost there, I doubt it's

Tesarik One: It was lifting it's arms and trying to scratch at them but
could not even sit up, was caught laying in it's sarc.
Tesarik One: A soft moaning sound echoed as it began to speak in Inhepic,

SoI Knight: ::Seeing the pool of black beetles, Ralen just stared for a
moment and looked arond.:: Yeah...get eatten alive or find out it's true

Tesarik One: The fountain of beetles did nothing as Gabriel stepped near,
they would not leave the fountain.

psionic wanderer: "Very well." Replied in kind, before Hana'lee was prepared
once again, and a bolt sent at the ghost! (Arbalest is made with Serren so it
has ghost touch)

Tesarik One: Well the scarabs began to cover his hand, it did not hurt at
all, though to everyone around it did look as if his hand was consumed. But,
he needed to put his whole body in mwahaha.
Tesarik Five: Well, Warren would help. So arrow went right into the ghost
things face to try and put it to rest finally. Sense it asked for it after
all. (Bow hit's incorporal.)
psionic wanderer: "...." Well god damnit. He couldn't not finish it off now!
He reloaded and fired at it again. Was Warren there and not in the bug room?
Well he wouldn't shoot Warren on accident.

Tesarik One: Between Warren's hit and Akaash's hit, the spectre disappeared,
with a final soft sigh and whispered thanks in Inhepic.
Tesarik One: Now it was merely a mummy in beautiful jewelry, with a
greatsword with the words "Memphet-Ra" written in Inhepic along the sheath.
Mighty Gar thog: ~The dragon had to smile at that. Then, began moving the
lid again. Hopefully Warren could see what was within~
Tesarik One: Ralen! You step into the scarab fountain and the scarabs crawl
all over you, to everyone in Room 9 it looks as if they completely engulf and
consume you, so much so that nothing is left of you.
psionic wanderer: Well, good. That done, he put Hana'lee onto his back once
more, then picked up the greatsword, drawing it to make sure the blade wasn't
just..missing or something. And if it all checked out, then he'd sling it
onto his back as well,
psionic wanderer: shifting Hana'lee out of the way so he could still arm
himself if need be.
Mighty Gar thog: ~GarThog would carefully take the jewelry, wrapping it up,
as if it were crystal, not metal.~
RageofNocturne: :: He watched and as they didnt eat his hand he would move
and jumped into the fountain aswell after Ralen had vanished-

Tesarik Five: "Bye bye ghost thing man." He waved at the disappearing ghost.
Then shinies! But, he was beaten to them. Slight half pout, but he got over
it quickly while he looked around and tilted his head to the side some.

Pain...where was the pain? He didn't feel anything for a moment and when he
reopened his eye's he was some place else. Away...from the others. Looking

as Gabe just jumped on in. "He's dead too.. anyone else?" Of course now he
was by himself, so he needed to wait and tell the others.

group, when they went about that of course.

seven men, just to annoy anyone and guide them to where he was.

psionic wanderer: Well at least there was singing. This damn sword was
uncomfortable. The large crossbow was bad enough, the sword adding to the
weight made him feel like he was going to topple over backwards..but he'd
find his way to 9 and see what

Tesarik One: Ok....for Ralen and Gabriel as they step out of the fountain in
Room 10, they find themselves in a room with four decorated pillars holding
high a 20 foot ceiling. A fountain of scarab beetles scrabbles about,
thousands of them just
Tesarik One: like in Room 9. Two bronze doors close access to a hallway to
the west. Stepping back into the scarab fountain will take you back to 9.
psionic wanderer: He blinked and stared at...Ralen emerging from a pool of
bugs. "..no, thank you. I've done what I came here to do, I trust you won't
need my skills through..that? And I don't want to risk this sword getting
lost further down in this
Tesarik Five: Warren gasped at the song he could hear while he flew with the
others. That song wasn't nice to sing about a woman! Though he could still
apreceate the fact that it was music, even if it was bad music.
psionic wanderer: place than it already was. That and, well..if I die I
can't really deliver to my client."
