Nefarious Works Guild
Where the Obsidian Heart Adventuring Company, run by the red headed vixen known as Maria, is the premiere adventuring company in Arith, others of varying… reputations also exist. Skar and the Blackfeathers are such examples, but where they’re organizations focused on gaining their own personal power and influence by controlling those around them the Nefarious Works Guild looks for a life of dark intentions and wealth. Nefarious Works is the darkness that combats the light. Instead of saving a village, Nefarious Works will send their members to torment it. Instead of finding and removing a threat to the community Nefarious Works will seek out and empower it, or perhaps be the ones who freed it to begin with. Where some find profit and enjoyment in order and good deed, NW finds profit and enjoyment in chaos and acts of evil.
Arith Organization
The Nefarious Works Guild is considered a “Major Organization” of Arith though it is still growing at the time of this writing. While it is relatively more fleshed out than some of the other “Major Organizations” listed, NW is still considered an SL element of the game just like they are. Different properties and SL developments will be added over time. Characters can still "join" NW and use the NW concept and resources in their SLs and quests but for right now it will only remain an available concept, not a full group - see below for details. If down the road, enough interest is shown in NW as an actual group, steps may be taken to return it to its previous concept of an IC guild on par with the Obsidian Heart.
Members
Those who seek out NW are of the evil variety, to say the least, and as such the base requirement for NW membership is evil: Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil or Chaotic Evil, those are the three character types, or alignments, that a character must be in order to join Nefarious Works as a full member.
Members have full access to the NW Portal Network and Properties, including the NW HQ, and receive first rights to NW missions.
Associates
There are those that can't, or won't, embrace the values of the Nefarious Works Guild to the degree that its members do. They may only find certain NW missions or quests acceptable to their beliefs instead of all, or perhaps they haven't yet seen the promise of embracing the evil and simply present evil tendencies at times. These individuals are known as Associates, and while they don't hold full NW membership, they are gifted certain benefits for their association with NW.
Associates have limited access to the NW Portal Network and Properties (can only access and travel between NW Chapter Houses and NW Businesses) and receive secondary rights to NW missions.
More Information & Joining the NW Members Board Group
As described, in part, on the NW HQ Secret Entrance post, the NW Members board group is used, along with permissions, to produce the atmosphere of a secret door appearing to NW members but not others (it shows or hides a page).
Following the descriptions of Members and Associates above only characters that join NW as a Member need to/will be added to the NW Members board group as Associates don't have access to the NW HQ which the "door" accesses.
