These are the names of some of the most famous or notable in the history of Arith, both from past and present.
ROYALTY and LEADERS
•Grand Duke and Duchess of Kullyr, Bjarn and Anne Lofgren [Kullyr]
They rule their wild land from the largest and most settled city in Kullyr, Rood. The Lofgren family has ruled Kullyr ever since they fought Dunsany and ripped the land in half, ages ago.
•Aaron Hexenthal, King of Dunsany [Kullyr][Deceased]
•Magdelena Moretti (Hexenthal), Queen of Dunsany [Kullyr]
Lady Moretti died young back in Dunsany, some say the target of a spurned suitor. Aaron Hexenthal, Prince of Dunsany, was so taken with her that he intended on making her his wife and queen, but she died before that could happen. Using a True Rezz spell, Aaron raised her from the dead and put her under his vampiric command. She speaks the Ancient tongue, as well as a few others that a woman of that time would learn in noble courts. She has been learning the current common tongue as well. She has a toddler son...Aaron ripped Hampton out of his mother's womb, killing her, and gave the child to Magda to raise as their child. The child had an unholy baptism - what that did to him we do not know quite yet. When Aaron died, and the control was gone, they could not find any relative of the child so Magda has decided to raise him. He is a beautiful child, with curly blond hair, and green eyes with a tendency to get into lots of trouble. Magda has her hands full, and is fully convinced she will be able to raise him up in a way that he will not follow that unholy path formed into his soul by Aaron Hexenthal's unholy baptism.
•Grand Prince Aalbert Da Behr V, The Heir [Rumeria]
•Serpent-King Rohan Cheverny [Madder]
The Serpent-King of Madder is worshipped as the incarnation of the ancient serpent god Nit Gia Zudok, and everyone within Madder is expected to worship him above all others. You may worship the other gods and goddesses you honor, but above all the Serpent-King is the highest. This has brought hatred of Madder to an all time high from the other realms of the land, as most feel that the Six Primal Gods should be worshipped above all.
•High King Fergal Niall Dalcassian the Thirteenth [Shalott]
Fergal is the youngest king in Arith, being 3 years of age. He became king when his father was killed during war with Kullyr.
•Regent of Shalott, Princess Iseult Edana Dalcassian [Shalott]
Iseult was a rebellious tomboy in her youth, hot tempered and impulsive, and rose to prominence in the kingdom and hearts of the common folk for her valiant fighting against the Kullyrian Sea Raiders who attempted to take the island kingdom over. She is accomplished in battle and strategy, and has spent most of her young life fighting and riding horses with the noble sons and heirs of the realm. She was very close to her father, who died during the recent war. Iseult has fiery red hair, and oak-brown eyes. She stands as tall as any knight in her mithril plate armor, but strikes the eyes as slimmer and more agile. The armor was a gift from the Chancellor of Kyngfeld. Iseult hates court life and diplomacy, but she takes the wise advice of her Counselors and the Dowager Queen Aideen, and misses few nuances and usually does the right thing. So long as she can pour her frustration into occasional sword-fights, she is happy. Iseult is twenty-two years old.
•Dowager Queen Aideen Dalcassian [Shalott]
The Dowager Queen is still in great health, brilliant and insightful. She loves a game of chess. She has great foresight of future events and intrigues hatching in the lands. Her fragile, delicate beauty conceals stubborn bravery, and a mind that notices everything. She is approaching a hundred years of age. She is a great help to the Regent as she spends all of her time in court, sizing up folk who come to court, learning of their doings and sizing up their moods. Her first son died at the hands of an assassin 75 years ago, and she has never truly gotten over it. Those who wish to anger or wound her need only mention her son, Thorven. She has taken weapons training with daggers, and shortsword.
•Jarl of the South, Leif Manne [Alzorc Keep, Alzorc]
Though very insular, the most well known of the Jarls of Alzorc would be Leif Manne. Some say if a king were to be named in Alzorc, it would be him. Though many disagree, and say he is too old and fat.
•King Rothchild Riverlan [Sarkotos][Deceased]
Though he carried the name of Riverlan, Rothchild was actually not part of the House but took the name only when he married Genevive Riverlan, the only daughter King Venron Riverlan, at the end of the Skyrunner's Era. Ten years after the birth of Norathell Riverlan (the current King's grandfather) Venron passed away peacefully in his sleep due to a constriction of his heart, an effect of old age, or so Rothchild declared to the entire city. He also cited that Venron had complained to him previously of chest pains. Several of Venron's friends including Princess Genevive raised their suspicions on the circumstances of Venron's death as he had been in good health despite his age. It was no secret that the old king despised his son-in-law whom he regarded as useless and incompetent and that Genevive, a pale gentle mouse of a woman, was deathly afraid of her husband. However, before Genevive could call for the court mage to begin an in-depth examination of the body for the cause of death, Rothchild exercised his rights as the next-of-kin and buried King Venron and announced that any efforts to exhume the body would be an insult to the House of Riverlan. He was soon crowned King, but had no more children with Genevive though he is known to have fathered numerous bastards throughout Sarkotos.
•Princess Pryda Riverlan [Sarkotos]
In her mid-twenties, beautiful, kind and generous, Princess Pryda has made a name for herself throughout Sarkotos. Her appearance paired with her noble kindness and wisdom beyond her age makes her to one of the most loved members of the current royal family. It is rumored that she intends on taking a commoner as a husband. She is not without a temper as injustice, ignorance concerning the need of the ill and poor and greed especially can enrage her and then she can find precise words which nail down the problem and will silence any opponent. But her voice is never sharp and she would never attempt to purposely hurt anyone.
•Queen Kethryllia Hatharal [Kir'viir]
She was visiting family in the south of Kir'viir when the Scarring struck, killing her entire family. She now resides in Rimion, and has focused on assisting the Scarred elves who are coming into Kir'viir seeking a new home and new life. She is often found at the Iron Gate, bringing water and kind words to those passing through.
•King Aiduin Whitevale [Kir'viir]
The most prominent of the elven royals, he and his family reside in Al Dorei. He is a well known swordmaster and trained at the Maernthym Academy. His son, Iolas, is an instructor at the academy and has no desire to ever rule. His daughter, Zalariel, will inherit the throne.
•King Annar Silvershield [Thrangstonn]
He is king of the largest dwarven kingdom in the Knockskulls, if not in all of Arith. Though all dwarves are known for their craftsmanship, the Thrangstonn dwarves are unmatched in reputation. No other metal workers compare to the quality of the fine armor and swords made in the smithies deep within the Knockskulls. No buildings are built as strong or as beautiful. They are responsible for most of the stone buildings in Rumeria and Alzorc in the area of their kingdom. The dwarves of Thrangstonn built palaces, towers and keeps for those that would hire them and their expertise continues into the present day. The dwarves of Thrangstonn are also famous for a unique material found only in the northern Knockskulls, skystone.
•King Gimlagg Ringsmith [Rune Forge]
Where Thrangstonn can boast the finest metal workers in the lands, Rune Forge in the Ballari Ridgebacks is aptly named, for none can Boast the quality of enchanted weaponry and armor. Most of the stout folk have a distinct disdain for the arcane skills, those of Rune Forge have an affinity for them. The king of this dwarven kingdom himself is highly skilled in the magical arts, and it is said that the forges themselves are mystical...which they are.
•King Khors Hammerswift [Rune Forge][Deceased]
Those seeing the massive, 200’ tall warhammer carved from the very peak of the mountain in the Ballari Ridgebacks cannot help but feel small. Perfectly proportioned, it looks like a gods weapon ready for use. This was indeed the intent of the Dwarven King, Khors Hammerswift, that commissioned it, in response to a vision he received at his first wife’s funeral pyre. It took nearly 30 years to complete, and consumed much of the King’s energy, for he personally to a hand in its carving.
•Matriarch India Maetlar [Oirnadro]

Khan Hayfa has ruled Marakech for generations carefully steering its wealth and using his various skills to locate gem and mineral deposits around Marakech and beyond whilst protecting the city from raiders. He is incredibly strong and possesses the natural charisma of all genies, his skin is the shade of wet sand and physically appears to be in his early forties though he is infinitely older.
•Governor Anton Berengaria [Anoi'pua Islands]
Anything that leaves the islands is approved by the governor, and anything that comes in to the civilized areas is also approved. He is the key to any other area in Arith getting the juicy fruits and spices from the islands; in that he is quite well known to at least the merchants and ship captains in Arith. He has two daughters, Hana'lee and Annyth and one son, Adrian. At this time both Hana and Annyth reside in Sarkotos, while Adrian is being groomed to take over when his father retires. He has grown up his entire life in the islands, his grandfather was the first Governor of Anoi'pua.

•Comte Bellamy Michel
Leader of Middling Parish, he is known as one of the most eligible bachelors in Madder, and is in his thirties. The legend of their family tells them that their great-grandfather Tau was once a King of Lions, but was forced out of the golden plains and found shelter in the town that grew into the city of Pristina after losing a one-on-one combat with another Simba. Only Stellan and Leonet, and their shaman grandmother still live in the grand villa. While they have no public respect from any of the simba tribes that still remain, due to their family's very public loss of the kingship, there are many that still believe that the royal blood in the Vargas family should be restored for it is believed by some (a very hidden knowledge, few know) that the one that took the crown did so via dishonorable means. There are secret machinations in place to put Leonet on his family's lost throne. Stellan has no idea of any of this, and enjoys the life of a proper lady and swordmaster. She has never shifted, though her brother Leonet sneaks out on a near nightly basis to roam in lion form.
•Chief Ronan Cassidy [Shalott]
Ronan's grandfather was a bastard son of the former High King, and Ronan has the bronze flecked green eyes of the royal line. •Jakob Aaron [Sarkotos][Deceased]
Jakob Aaron has been an idol for many generations of Sarks ever since he received his first merits by rescuing a damsel in distress from rampaging raiders. His life's story is full with bravery, valor, but also rebellion and romance, and bears emotional abysses in it and the ceaseless search to follow his stern God's call, the God of Justice. It developed because of an unexpected rise to fame - with all its side effects - and resulted in a tragic end, seemingly as accidental as his sudden popularity. This is the stuff from which legends are made, which drives the ladies to tears and the which young warriors still long to listen, in order to follow in such a great man's footsteps. Thus regardless of Jake's short life span there are still new tales springing up everywhere dealing with the hero and his adventures. Whether all the stories are true or not, in any case Jakob Aaron, as a shining representative of Sark virtues, has remained a Sarkotan icon until this very day. Many a person pays a visit to The Sanctuary to pray at his statue: be they fighters on their way to an important mission, men seeking guidance, or people who feel left alone and misunderstood. Many a damsel can be seen at the statue, perhaps hoping for some kind of distress and a savior (more inspiring than the over-imbibing lout next door) to rescue her from it. Whomever comes, Jake's stone face is there for all to interpret; the ambiguity of his smile may help one to find an answer to a silent question, inspire to action, or even provide some comfort
•Wingard the Dragonslayer [Avilon][Deceased]
Merely a farmer, young Wingard set out to kill one of the dragons terrorizing the Avilon Islands, Venseferum the Darkling. He was in love with the charming daughter of the reigning noble, Abbegail and wished to marry her. Wingard and Abbegail were already in love since their childhood and had sworn never to leave each other until their death. Alas, Abbegail's strict father wouldn't have permitted the marriage of his only daughter to a mere apple farmer who hadn't proven himself on the battlefield and earned his prize. So Wingard challenged the dragon! After a long and difficult fight the brave Wingard defeated Venseferum and brought his head home, where he got knighted. Wingard was well known among the people of Avilon and appreciated everywhere for his braveness and his strong belief in the power of love.
One year after the slaying of the dragon, Abbegail and Wingard were wed, but their time together didn't last very long for in a year's time, a terrible assault of dragons came down on the islands to avenge the destruction of Venseferum the Darkling by Wingard. At the so-called Dragonstorm hundreds of beasts crossed the Tandala mountains, advanced and devastated the land. Thousands of humans died from the fires of the Winged Death, Wingard the Dragonslayer too couldn't escape his fate. He was killed at the first attack, and in her grief, Abbegail jumped out of the tower to her death on the rocks below.
•Anaxagoras [Deceased]
During the Suncaller's Era some 2,000 years ago, magic was hated and feared, mostly due to the still-cooling ashes of the Blackout. Those who persisted in pursuing have been mobbed, murdered, and hunted throughout this era. Some, however, still managed to not only survive, but almost thrive. One such was a man named Anaxagoras, a powerful mage. Although only a human, Anaxagoras plotted to become a deity. In the climax of his career, three temples were erected by his command, and hundreds flocked to him. He used his magic to transform many of his followers into monstrous beasts that served him. However, men are mortal, and his death brought about not only disunity among the ranks, but even death and violence, until his little splash in the pond of history was tainted with blood and forgotten - until his main temple was uncovered last year in the northern area of Doxenia and his name began to circulate again.

Rorthaniel the Black was an evil master of dreams. He bent them to his will and his enemies crumbled. His only weakness was his phobia of being buried alive. Deep in his castle within Kir'viir, his worst nightmare came to pass as the Scarring occurred and Rorthaniel was buried alive as his castle sank into the ground. It did not kill Rorthaniel, and when he regained consciousness, his mad imaginings boiled over and his screams were terrible. If anyone dares venture down to the deepest floors of the buried castle, they will find a knotted system of roots, almost impenetrable and crawling with snakes and huge spiders, extending throughout the whole castle. Somewhere in there still is Rorthaniel, whimpering, terrified, his fears creating more and more of the disgusting creatures that crawl over him.

Not much is known about this pair of pirates, except that Solanine captured Grayson during a pirate raid, and before long they'd pledged love and he became an integral part of the workings of the ship, The Twisted Sigil (A Bone Marauder ship). Her face was covered in scars, and she had an aura of terror about her. Despite her honor, valor and boldness, she caused great fear where she went and was shunned and taunted. •Sir Adelbert [Doxenia][Deceased]
Founder of the Knights of the Grey Banner.
•Sir Roland Burmis [Doxenia]
Sir Roland Burmis, of the Howling Wolf Knights of Doxenia, was not born in to a life of pampering and privilege. He was born in to a low status family and dealt with the struggles that affect the poor. Not really one for Arithmetic and Science, Sir Roland focused more so on his Athletic ability and Instinctual nature. It was no surprise whenever he took on the Red Belt of a Squire. His Knight, though not all that accomplished, had fine skills in Swordplay. He taught Roland the way of the Sword and helped him shape his raw strength in true Power. Roland had been in the service of the Howling Wolf Knights for some time before the Sword dropped on him. In fact, it was a very recent affair on the 28th day of the First Month of this New Year. Through perseverance, training and his Knightly virtues, he was elevated to the Peerage. His superiors knew he had an eye for detail, able to tell when something or someone was about to make a poor decision. He was keen on it. So with Doxenia's habit of schedule and constant skirmishes with their neighbors, Sir Roland was appointed to the duty of inspecting and interviewing all of those traveling directly in to Westby. He was one of the few men that spoke with all of those that traveled in to the city by the Port Union station. He was the man at the Gate, so to speak.

•Lady Lara [Deceased]
Known simply as "Lady Lara" among Mourners, Lara was the founder of the Threnody Guild. She was a young widow, who had the horror of seeing her husband used by a local necromancer as a Risen. She soon attracted a following, and that is how the Threnody Guild began.
•Chantrea O'Shee
Chantrea O'Shee is a member of the Threnody Guild, a professional mourner. After her husband died only a few months after being married, the young widow vowed revenge upon the beasts that killed him - the undead. It seemed a logical choice that she would join and train as a Mourner of the Threnody Guild. It was difficult at first, for Chantrea came from a wealthy and privileged family but she persevered. She rarely talks over a whisper, her tones sweet and dulcet, as if in another life she may have been trained as a singer. She has become quite good at her duties and stays busy.
BARDS, ARTISTS, and AUTHORS

•Master Enzio, Storyteller [Bryony][Deceased]
Master Enzio is an extremely well-known bard, narrator and storyteller, as well as an appreciated acrobat in his younger years. A person generally thought to belong to everyone, his stories are loved by many, adults and children alike, his name synonymous with the idyllic space of childhood so much so that many a time, the stories precede his name. His collected works, known today by the title "Master Enzio’s Miraculous Narrations", is regarded as one of the classic works of fairy-tales. Every child in the civilized kingdoms know most of these stories by heart as Enzio's tales have developed into an important part of most land's education. Master Enzio's narrative style is simple and straight to the point which seems to be exactly the way children want to have their tales presented. Many narrators try to copy this unique style of the famous Enzio, but only a few can be accounted to succeed in this endeavor. Upon his death, people from all over Arith came in full force to bid good bye to their favorite storyteller, reminding themselves of the stories he told and held special storytelling sessions in the days that followed to commemorate the life of such an acclaimed personage. Following his wishes, his body was burned and his ashes scattered into the sea and his money given to build more schools. As far as we know, Master Enzio never married. Most kingdoms celebrate his life on the day of his death each year by hosting storytelling sessions that pull bards in from all walks of life - just as Master Enzio would have wished.
•Jarvonna [Zyon][Deceased]
This elven poetess has written some of Arith's most well known poems, all dealing with nature in some way, from forests and mountains to descriptive odes to the sea. Her poem entitled "One Petal" is her most famous, and is recited by school children the world over. She is sometimes referred to as the Dove.
•Glissa the Graceful [Sarkotos][Deceased]
Glissa the Graceful, popularly known as Glissa Goldenarse, was one of the best-known entertainers of her age, and helped to bridge the gap between "common" tastes and "noble" performances. She was popular with all classes, and one might expect to find both earls and fishmongers at one of her dance exhibitions which she performed in nothing but blue feathers glued to her golden body. Her peculiar taste in foodstuffs to this day has never achieved popular acclaim, but it has encouraged an entire generation of women to add more vegetables and fruit to their diet in hopes of gaining the glowing golden color of her skin (said to come from eating a profusion of carrots?). She died at 63 years of age, apparently painlessly, but with as much drama as she put into everything else. Her demise occurred during the opening run of "Vibbici", a dramatic dance performance for which she had provided much of the choreography. She was found in her private box after the curtain had closed, sitting bolt-upright in her lavish chair with flowers around her and a box of chocolate covered seeds in her right hand. Her dark eyes were closed, her then-white hair impeccably groomed, and a delighted smile was still on her lips.
Many songs and poems were inspired by Glissa, one street song went:
"My luck’s a-turnin’, jolly boys / the dice are fairly square and bright!/
With money in me pouch I’ll see / sweet Glissa Goldenarse tonight!"
•Master Bard Shannon [Shalott][Deceased]
Master Bard Shanon composed for courts and noble homes across Arith, though you would be as likely to have found her singing bawdy ditties in a local tavern or entertaining Thanic children on the edges of the desert of Thanes. Her speaking voice was both controlled and dramatic, matching her warm alto singing voice. She also practiced some healing, mostly herb-based, and enjoyed teaching children crafts, games, and songs, spreading bits of cross-cultural entertainment wherever she wandered. She was good with her hands, as one might expect from a lutanist, but hopelessly undisciplined - in fact, she dropped out of the Bardic College in Bryony due to her inability to focus on anything for long periods of time.
HEALERS, DRUIDS and PRIESTS
•Dahlia, the Devoted [Sarkotos]

•Counselor Oisin Hanratty, Archdruid [Shalott]
Counselor to the Shalottan royal family, Oisin is a very important man on the islands. He is an elderly human, though, and knows he will not live to see the High King as a teenager.
•Counselor Eefa Devlin, High Druid [Shalott]
Eefa will be the next Archdruid of Shalott, and is well known for being available to listen to noble and common folk alike.
•Raison, High Priest of Madder [Madder]
One of the most powerful men in Madder, outside of the royalty, Raison is intolerant of all religions save for that of the worship of the Serpent-King.
•La'Rou, High Priestess of Madder [Madder]
The right hand "man" to Raison, she is often the one coursed with carrying out Raison's dirty work. For this reason, she is actually more feared than Raison since she is the face they see more often. Children are told, "Best say your prayers, or La'Rou will slither in tonight."
•Lady Adoette [Deceased]
A well known White Raven healer, stories abound of her work during wartime for many kingdoms. Fearless, she stared enemies down daring them to force her to pause her healing gifts. It is unknown where she was born, she considered all of Arith her home. She died very famously on the battlefield from a stray arrow. Though bleeding and dying, she gave her last breaths to heal as many of the fallen as she could before death took her.
•Veronica Starchaser
A well-known aasimar priest and master astrologer of the Order of the Celestial Sky, her most famous activity as of yet was predicting the exact date of the Triple Eclipse.
•Va'alyn [Kir'viir]
The current Heirophant of the Silver Oak Druids, a druid order existing throughout Arith. He is, without a doubt, the most powerful and important druid alive today. He is very unassuming and humble, though, despite the prestige of his position. He is also one of the oldest elves in Kir'viir and has held this position for centuries.
•Il-madia [Kir'viir]
The second most powerful druid alive today is the Arch Druid of the Silver Oak Druids. She has held this position for the past 50 years, so is still considered very new but is well respected both in Kir'viir and throughout the lands.

•Falqun Briathos [Based in Sarkotos]
The aasimar Falqun is a well-known White Raven Healer, most well known for the skull shaped irises of her eyes when she goes into 'avenging angel' mode. She often accompanies the Obsidian Heart Adventurers when asked for specifically by Maria.
•Rosheen Conall [Kyngfeld]
Most of the men of the villages in the Faerie Forest consider Rosheen to be one of the most eligible females under their green canopy. The child of a venerable druid and with bloodline from a deep forest dryad, she was born from the forest itself. An exemplary druid at the age of 15 she demonstrated that one day she will sit among the elders of the Silver Oak. Unfortunately for all the men that desire her, whether for the power she will have or for simply being a lovely forest maiden, she does not seem to see men in that regard. She and her falcon, Elsu, are rarely parted.
GUILDS, ORDERS and ORGANIZATIONS
•Maria Alaria, Owner of the Obsidian Heart [Sarkotos]

•Madame Monarch
Born from the purest of fire, the being that came to be known as Madame Monarch lingered in the deserts of the Thanes for hundreds of years, living in a kingdom long forgotten and mostly eroded by sand. Feeding off the elements, the preferably invisible female spent little time involved with other races, not until the day a band of gypsies came to the forgotten ruins, seeking to loot them.
While she cared little for monetary means, there was a curiosity for the caravan of people and their effects, of which the djinn took the liberty of discovering. At the sight of the butterfly marking (on a mess of goods inside the abode) that her mind brought her invisibility down, her body shifting to mock the little, two-winged beauty of an insect that had been depicted there. What she did not know was that the home she chose to look through belonged to a powerful Spellborn, one in tune with all around them. Having sensed her presence there, the man burst in to his home, jarring the little butterfly.. taking her for his own. Binding her soul to a phylactery, much like a lich, he managed to keep her as his pet, her life in service to the caravan in exchange for continued existence. She was to fulfill anything desired of her, no matter the reasons behind the demand.
Over time she found human form, acting as one of the Azure as any other would, telling fortunes and accepting coin and promise to grant the wishes of those naïve enough to do so. She was granted the moniker “Madame Monarch” for the lore behind her capture, and for the fiery orange way set in each iris of her eyes. The djinn learned not only to fight and shoot a bow, but also how to use her psionic and magical abilities to their best, finally pairing it all in charming ways.
Being passed down through the family, son to son, ten generations were spent in servitude, until a single son found the error of his ancestor’s ways. Breaking the link that was her leash, he chose to let her go; yet the man would come to find that no matter the unleashing that was tether of her soul, her heart was an entirely different matter. Somewhere along the way she became one of them. She was just as he: an Azure Butterfly.
CULTS and SECTS
•The Prime Incantifier [Bryony]
Mages who belong to this strictly Bryony society believe that arcane magic is the root of all power. Master magic and you master existence. Powerful mages of the Incanterium have found the secret ritual to mold themselves into a creature known as an "Incantifier", whose natural processes are no longer powered by air, food and blood - but instead are driven by raw magic. They are the most powerful of all mages in the lands and only a handful have ever reached this status, though all members of the Incanterium push to reach this level. They rule over the Incanterium with an iron fist. Incantifiers are not undead, merely warped by arcane energy. The Prime Incantifier is the first to have undergone the process.
•Dallon [Madder]
The clerics of the evil god Dan'Zeran, a very small cabal of worshippers, gather at this secret temple in Madder to worship the god of pain and torture. Followers are known as the "Children of the Dark". Sacrifices are sometimes tortured for as long as a year before being killed. They are led by an utterly demented man known as Dallon. Dallon's greatest wish is to bring Dan'Zeran back into this world, and he has raised his eldest son to be Dan'Zeran's vessel. His youngest son (they were twins) is being groomed to be a sacrifice, and has been tortured since birth. They are both in their mid-teens now. The eldest son has been the source of the youngest's torture since they were six years old.
•Master Abydos [Bryony]
The highest ranked member of the Hollow Court, known as the "Deathmaster", the machinations of this astute necromancer has begun to trickle outside of Bryony and into other lands.
•Mistress Karenina [Bryony]
Another member of the Hollow Court, she is not as high ranked as some of the others, but has made a name for herself for several reasons - one of which is that she is a stunningly beautiful woman who does not look at all like she is a master necromancer. Her rank is "Mistress of Bones". She is tall, curvy, with long blonde curls and big blue eyes.
INVENTORS and ENGINEERS
•Dimble Clockmort, "Dimble the Crooked"
Known as the first person to craft and use black powder. A close-cut, blonde beard tightly hugs his chin and his head is completely bald save for a thin crown, which he has apparently worn his entire life. His nose is long and crooked, having the appearance of being broken one too many times, and his nostrils are large and revealing; it is from this he got his nickname, "Dimble the Crooked". Indeed, he is sometimes spoken about more for his abnormally formed nose than his incredible contributions to alchemy. He has kindly, wrinkled blue eyes and plump cheeks.
•Fizzwinken Gadgetcracker
Who has not heard of the elderly gnome who rolls into town with his amazing combining machine? Known as the Gyro-blender, adventurers in any town await him each year to see what wonders he can make of all the loot they've found.
SCHOLARS and EXPLORERS
•The Librarian [Bryony]
Simply known as "The Librarian", this elderly man of unknown race oversees the Library of the College of Harmonic Lore. Special permission must be sought from the Council of Wands before one can enter the grand building for it holds all magical and written records of the kingdom, its written law and every historical tome on record within its walls.
•Donovan Kilydd, 1st Duke of Feldsmith [Sarkotos][Deceased]
•Erhine [Sarkotos]
Erhine is a graybeard with a nose for exotic herbs and esoteric knowledge. In his secluded cottage, Erhine studies old tomes and maintains a far-flung network of contacts that spans the world and the planes beyond. The old man makes ends meet by selling rare herbs and by serving as a sage and teacher.
•Anders, the Traveling Scholar [Various]
Anders is in his early forties. He was once an extremely handsome youth, but was brutally mauled and mutilated while captured by an orc tribe. He is missing the top part of one ear, has a permanent limp from a broken and badly set foot and his face and body are savagely scarred from the teeth and claws of the orcs. He is tall, with long, very dark red hair which he wears in two braids, each with only one iron ring braided into it, since he is, by his own admission "a scholar, not a warrior". He is slender rather than muscular and his fair skin has lightened further, for the once popular and outgoing bard tends to bury himself in his work and rarely ventures beyond whatever local library he has decided to visit that year. He remains hidden in the stacks, claiming he does not "wish to inflict his visage on the unsuspecting".
•Inghard [Deceased]
This Zorcan set out in a small ship in the Dragonrider's Era, set to find out what was beyond the sea. Caught by storm, he was adrift for almost two months before finally landing on the coast of what is now the Skegg Islands approximately 1100 years ago. He was the leader of the small band of brave souls who established a foothold on this "unknown island".
NOTABLE MAGI and ALCHEMISTS
•Calie Protuus [Bryony]
Calie deals in the development of poisons and powders that could fell even a giant of the frozen kingdoms from her shop, Protuus Wines. These poisons are generally masked by a nice bottle of wine, which accounts for the front of her shop. The people of Drakkus know to avoid this place, if they want to live.
•Mistress Meldy [Bryony]
Curses and Hexes are Mistress Meldy’s pleasure and there is no better place to go than to her if you want someone to suffer for the things they have done to you. As long as you have coin, then the Mistress will cast whatever horrific incident you want to happen to the unsuspecting target. She will also, for a price, twist the Bryony Bonding Potion so that only the counterpart is put under its spell; the customer would be in full charge of their faculties and can continue to do as they wish.
•Abel Dracor, Blood Mage [Bryony][Unknown]
Abel Dracor was one of the first to openly practice Blood Magic, but the price he had to pay was quite severe. Through his constant ingestion of blood, Dracor developed one of the most severe known cases of "The Lust", beginning to crave blood regularly. For many years this craving became an integral part of Dracor. While the college tried to quench the addiction by satiating Draco with large quantities of animal blood, his emergence as a romantic icon within Bryony as result of his odd fetish did nothing to help his obsession, the blood he sampled from his lovers surpassing the satisfaction he received from the veins of stagnating livestock. He also realized that using Blood Magic in this way could extend his life.
Dracor quickly became a glamorized figure within Shrine, with every young lady hoping she would be the next one to be bitten. For some time it became incredibly fashionable to display the man’s marks publicly on your skin, so fashionable that many tried to imitate it. The so-called ‘Dracor Suicides’ came about from women who tried to slice their wrists in imitation of his bite marks, only to cut too deep and fatally wound themselves.
Aged 45, but not looking a day over 20, Dracor committed a deed that would eventually lead many of those who idolized him to despise him wholeheartedly. In what is attributed to animalistic lust-fueled frenzy, twelve of Dracor's students were found butchered in his bedchamber, the man wallowing in a pool of their blood, scavenging every last drop. Angered citizens demanded retribution. When the College of Magic itself denounced Dracor, he realized the enormity of his mistake. He immediately left Bryony and went to Shalott, where he terrorized the town of Sleego murdering their young women for many years, never being caught.
Abel Dracor is primarily important for the lesson he teaches about the very real dangers of dabbling in Blood Magic recklessly. His name continues to live on through the lectures at College of Magic, citing him as the most extreme example of the dreaded "Lust" in history. Such is the impact he left on the college that his portrait, a commissioned Ardsweth work, still remains displayed along with the greats of Bryony Magical History. His pertinent reputation as "a tragic mistake" also lent credence to the idea that Blood Magic was an inferior pursuit, dubbing it as a corrupting and dangerous. Dracor, however, is arguably much more important for the climate of fear he is still able to command even though it is inconceivable he is still alive. Even uttering the name in Sleego is enough to cause hysteria. While literary works on the man have done nothing to dispel any of the enigmatic man’s myths (numbering serial murder and immortal), the sheer level of terror that the man is still capable of invoking is perhaps a testament to his prominence.
•Sophronia Vane [Deathport, Scarred Lands]
Leader of the strongest house so far in Deathport in the Scarred Lands, she is a necromancer from Madder called "Sophra the Desecrator". The shaman is very powerful, but feels his vengeance has been wrought on the humans and no longer pursues the avenue of revenge. He knows the strength of his people, their knowledge of the land and the general lack of resources that settled folk want, and he also knows their weaknesses, such as lack of training, discipline, or metal arms and armor. He is a diplomat who speaks with the townsfolk when they start getting agitated and look like they might plan to push the marshfolk out of the area.
•Lotus Blue [Zyon][Unknown]

Lotus traveled to the capital city when she was in her mid teens and then began to study the magical arts. Much of this period in her life is unknown, however, at the extraodinary young age of 23 she was appointed Archmage, making her the youngest Archmage in the history of Zyon. Lotus served as Archmage for 30 years before she retired and began to build the local library, gathering tomes from all over the known world through her travels. Lotus Blue lived within the capital city until the age of 90 when she mysteriously disapeared along with her few belongings. Legend dictates that she left to travel the world once more and there are even rumors that she might still live today.
•Mihaela Vadoma
Mihaela is a wandering gypsy soul, creaking into town with her wagon and two horses she calls Rex and Regina who have both been well trained by Mihaela herself. This dark haired, rather curvaceous beauty will charm you, but you would not wish to anger this shaman lest she craft a voodoo dollie of you and cause you no end of pain. She dresses in fine garments of bright colors, scarves of silk, and beautiful and perhaps gaudy jewelry. Around her waist she wears a knotted belt upon which several small silver bells are tied. Her horses are decorated in much the same way with removable silver bells and colorful fringe.
As a young woman, Mihaela's chaotic way of living found her plying the trade of a prostitute in a high-end brothel for several years, but that gypsy blood of hers did not settle down well so when she grew tired of that, she traveled with the Azure Butterfly gypsies for a while. She has seen a great deal of the land, but for the past three years she has traveled on her own, with her own wagon and horses, doing whatever catches her fancy. She is a shaman of some repute these days, and sells her wares in the various villages and towns she passes through. She is also a member of the Wayfarers League.

Alden has three trusted master smithies he has trained fully in his ways, who do most of the apprenticeships these days but if Alden is not pleased with your work, you have failed. The gods of olden times were beings of wood and stone. The Primitive God remains, its face a huge wooden mask and its body composed of massive timbers and boulders. The Primitive God doesn't leave its broad valley, where a small population lives in its thrall. The God can fight, enjoying wading into combat with maul like fists capable of smashing a man on horseback or crushed a wagon with a two handed strike. The Primitive God demands sacrifice, and is largely immune to low and middle level magics and cannot be harmed by non-magical weapons. It regenerates rapidly. It has to be appeased by the local priest of the god through sacrifice to the god themselves. The god favors young girls or virtuous young men.

Blessing the beer comes second only to blessings for fruitful marriages.
•The Damned Lovers [Zyon]
How it happened no one is sure, it happened decades, perhaps centuries ago. A pair of magic users of widely different faiths and creeds fell in love with each other. They eventually turned from love to war with each other. The wizard was slain, but maintained a terminal existence as a sentient zombie, perpetually decomposing and falling apart. The witch was driven completely mad and into a spectral half existence. The two still circle each other, alternating between flirting romance and horrific exchanges of magic. The main thing they use in their conflicts are waves of conventional zombies, of which both have a constant need for more bodies. Both have sent scouts and bodysnatchers beyond the valley in the Clumps near Summerglass to steal fresh corpses, the sick and infirm, and anyone foolish enough to get caught by the zombie scouts.
•The Forgotten Sorcerer [Zyon]
A vain and jealous sorcerer who lived centuries ago laid out the plans for his elaborate tomb in the foothills of the Bristleback Mountains near Swerdscree. The tomb was to remain an inviolate fortress for both his magical research and corpse. The tomb itself was looted fairly quickly after it was completed and its occupant placed inside. But the rage of the sorcerers ghost remained. The Ghost stalks often miles away from the tomb, looking for the people that robbed it, and violated its final resting place. The Ghost still uses some magics, such as casting illusions to distract and divide groups of people, fear magics to cause horses and servants/minions to flee, and it has both a normal life draining ghost attack as well as a specific attack that causes petrification. The land around the tomb can be noticed by the number of stone statues of people with their faces frozen in terror.
•Alfieres, Chiladis, Flaxen, Halise, Loroposa, Margansa, and Ouwree [Madder]
There is an area of the Dimmet that evil does not touch, a bizarre topiary garden of fanciful animal shapes. Normal animals seem attracted to the place. At the center of this grove is a massive oak tree that is home to a group of dryads- Alfieres, Chiladis, Flaxen, Halise, Loroposa, Margansa, and Ouwree. It is they that cut the topiary, and there is also a treant that lives in the grove that helps protect the area. Some whisper the topiaries are former trespassers changed into topiaries resembling their old bodies. This may have started as the dryads sometimes animate the topiaries for their own enjoyment.
•Beauregarden [Madder]
Somewhere near Ninesay is a group of standing stones with a lone, giant cypress growing in the center. The tree is actually a treant named Beauregarden, and the standing stones are it's grotto. It's about as old as a treant can be, and considers itself the Grand Druid of the Swamp. It has a detailed knowledge of the native people of ancient days. Beauregarden patrols the swamp at night, and returns home before daybreak. He is friendly with many of the bayou halflings, but to others he exacts a price before giving information - sending them on a task to prove their worthiness.

The Blessed Ruth herself is considered to be both immortal and divine. She wanders the world, ageless and undying. Her appearance is that of a woman in her fifties, yet one who carries her years lightly and who is still beautiful. Her hair is as black as night; her skin pale as moonlight, her carriage and figure stately and elegant. Though blind and deaf she has no difficulty finding her way; however, she is not omnipresent and can travel from one place to another no faster than a normal human could. However, by foresight she knows where she will be needed. Ruth is said to often test mortals; those who aid her - a blind and deaf woman - freely and unstintingly (particularly if they do so despite having some other pressing purpose driving them) will receive her aid, either by wise council or by direct blessing or intervention.
•Doola the Witch [Doxenia][Unknown]
She travels in a hut that walks on spider legs, talks in poetic riddles, and wields powerful magic that disregards conventional boundaries between good and evil – Doola the Witch inspires fear and fascination in children and adults alike. She is a prominent figure in Doxenian peasant lore, and appears in countless stories, songs, and sayings. Although unmistakably human, neither goddess nor demon, she is said never to age, as she possesses the secret of eternal youth. Doxenian witches hold Doola lore in high regard, and believe that much wisdom can be gained from it. In fact, Doola has been called the daughter of all witches: the wise child that every witch has to find within herself, and whose subtle and wayward voice she must learn to follow.
Doola the Witch is always described as a young woman, even a girl. But as far as nearly everything else about her appearance is concerned, the stories vary widely and, indeed, wildly. Sometimes she is beautiful, at other times ugly, and most often ordinary. Her hair is blonde, black, or red. She is tall or small. Her clothing is rich and ornate, or simple, or even bedraggled. Yet for a youthful witch skilled in the art of love charms and wise in the ways of fertility, it seems remarkable that no description has ever suggested that Doola was a seductress. Neither men nor women seem to have found her erotically alluring. She has the aura of a wise child, and of someone who may know all about other people’s desires, but lives in a world apart, ruled by cravings unintelligible to ordinary souls.
Doola is credited with the power of seeing beneath the surface of the world. People who claim to have met her often report that at first they thought her cross-eyed, until they realized that she was looking not at them, but into them. Apparently, no-one can hide their thoughts and designs from Doola’s penetrating gaze. Hence, if a Doxenian tells you that you have "Doola's Eyes", he is paying a double-edged compliment: he means to say that you have uncommon insight into people’s hearts; and he also means that he therefore won’t trust you
Yet most ordinary people are wary and resentful of Doola, citing tales that illustrate her moody character, her inclination to vengefulness, and her twisted morality. She is a friend of the feeble, the ugly, and the outcast, and is said to help misshapen children, cripples and oddballs more often than respectable folk. Yet even Doola’s most fervent detractors may, at times, hope for her help, when unrequited love pierces their heart, when their marriage remains barren, or when all other healers have failed to cure a sick loved one.
Many Doxenian peasants firmly believe that Doola the Witch has, at some point in the past, visited their village, and that she may return at any time. Most clear-thinking minds, however, argue that she is a figure of myth. And yet we cannot ignore the rumors that link Doola to a historical person by the name of Haldula Darkwell, a mysterious but doubtlessly real researcher of renegade magic. It is probable that Haldula was an ordinary witch, albeit a talented and learned one; yet some say that Haldula and Doola are in fact the same person, and that Doola the Witch likes to take on the guise of the plain "Haldula" when she leaves her spider-legged hut to visit cities and to partake in debates among sages.
ROYALTY and LEADERS
•Grand Duke and Duchess of Kullyr, Bjarn and Anne Lofgren [Kullyr]

•Serpent-King Rohan Cheverny [Madder]

Her face was covered in scars, and she had an aura of terror about her. Despite her honor, valor and boldness, she caused great fear where she went and was shunned and taunted.

Her name is well known, but few have ever seen this Ballykeeran. She is one of the many unicorn blooded from the area, whose paintings of village life and nature scenes grace even the noble manors and palaces of the kingdoms of the mainland.
•Ethelrec of Doxenia
Ethelrec, a half-elf, is one of the most famous portrait artists in all of Arith. Nearly every royal family, and every noble that can spare the expense, has at least one portrait by Ethelrec hanging in prominence in their home. Once every three years, she holds a drawing at Yuletide in a different area of the world, and the winner of the drawing is given a free small portrait by Ethelrec.

Much of this period in her life is unknown, however, at the extraodinary young age of 23 she was appointed Archmage, making her the youngest Archmage in the history of Zyon. Lotus served as Archmage for 30 years before she retired and began to build the local library, gathering tomes from all over the known world through her travels.

The Primitive God demands sacrifice, and is largely immune to low and middle level magics and cannot be harmed by non-magical weapons. It regenerates rapidly. It has to be appeased by the local priest of the god through sacrifice to the god themselves. The god favors young girls or virtuous young men.
•Lady of the Leaf (Green Wench) [Kyngfeld]
In the town of Eastden, every year a new mayor is chosen by the Lady of the Leaf (sometimes referred to as the Green Wench), a local agriculture "spirit" that blesses the village and it's fields every year. The Mayor serves as the 'Husband' of the Lady of the Leaf and is not only expected to perform spousal duties, but is also the emissary of the spirit. The Lady of the Leaf refused to allow herself to idolated as a goddess, though she can be petitioned to do things on the behalf of the local populace. Her favorite blessing?
•Karatakkus
An ancient red dragon said to live in the Harpy Headlands in Doxenia.
•Blessed Ruth
