Tesarik One: OH Quest: "Crypt of the Berserker Lord"
Tesarik One: Your leader is Pamela.
Tesarik One: If you have questions please IM one of us and try to keep the
ooc out of the log as much as possible, esp. in combat.
Tesarik One: Estimated time is 2.5 - 3 hours.
Tesarik One: You can die on our adventures and there are consequences if you
die.
Tesarik One: Make sure your char sheet is updated!
Tesarik One: You can't go "fixing" it up once we start! If it's not listed
you do not have it and this includes mundane gear. Pulling 50 feet of rope
out of your ass is painful and illegal!
Tesarik One: Otherwise state your info: Rank, Name, Dice,
Tesarik One: Defense DC, Healing Points if applicable. If you have Self
Healing Points just keep up with that yourself.
Tesarik One: ---end state---

Tesarik One: Correct?
tempestuous fist: ( yeah --- for Kevin )
Tesarik One: Introduction: Ankar and Maria had heard of a place, a burial
mountain, that had been infiltrated by some sort of creature. It had dug
right into the side of the mound and the people around the area were worried
that it was some sort
Tesarik One: of creature that would eat the remains of their long buried
dead. So, the group was assembled and teleported to the path that led up to
the massive burial mound. They could see the gash from where they stood,
ripped into the side of
Tesarik One: the otherwise verdant mound. Whatever creature was in there,
had been digging around for a few weeks now. (Begin RP)
Ashton Locke: Teleporting! As long as it was through a portal that was fine
by him, he was used to that. Otherwise he'd be all disoriented. At any rate,
once they got to where they needed to be he eyed that gash, then frowned.
"Fuck." Was all he
Ashton Locke: had to say for the moment, before producing his smiling gold
mask and slipping it on. Can't let the others see him scared now!
questing requiem: Teleportation always proved oh so disorienting when it
disrupted the song in going on in his mind just long enough to make the
sudden restoration upon arrival a jarring experience! The minstrel held his
head for a handful of seconds
Tesarik Five: Rohdle still wasn't to much of a fan of teleportation, it just
wasn't something he did often. He blinked just a few times at the sudden
change in lighting, however minor it may be, before he turned to look to
Ashton and lifted a
Tesarik Five: brow just a touch. Shaking off the thoughts let those hands
of his slip back, fingers lightly brush across the hilts of his swords just
to make sure they were still there as it were.
questing requiem: before reorganizing some sort of focus, minimal at least,
upon his compatriots in this crypt-protecting endeavor. As if an after
thought, likely it was, Requiem checked to be sure his supplies made the trip
safely..paticularly his
questing requiem: lute and short sword.. really he needed to get a bayonet
for the former! " Which way was it again? -d
Ashton Locke: He'd once again neglected to bring his falchion, having
switched almost exclusively to throwing knives, or a dagger if he really
needed to get up close. As a result, he didn't really look all that armed,
with his cloak or clothing
Ashton Locke: hiding damn near everything. He looked to Girard at the
question, then pointed. "Up there with all the shrieking, wailing ghosts, no
doubt. No worries, darlings, I'm sure there's nothing at all to be absolutely
terrified of."
tempestuous fist: ::He was unsure how he got drawn into this to be honest as
he made his way with the group on this path. He figured it would at least aid
in his training in some way shape or form. So there Alex was within the
leather armor that had
tempestuous fist: protected him in eailer adventures. His hands came to
cross over his chest however while remaining silent as he just went along
with the group for now.:: -d-
questing requiem: " Ghosts huh? " No reason to mention he'd probably feel
right at home in such a place. The creepy, brief smile he acquired at the
mention was reason enough not to be chatty over such matters. " I hope we'll
not be facing spirits..
tempestuous fist: Kevin*
questing requiem: doesn't seem we're well equiped for that sort. " He could
easily be wrong..who knew what tricks Ashton had up his sleeves! -d
Tesarik One: Well, it seems their path would take them up to the gash, so
get movin!
Tesarik Five: "Fear is just an emotion, if you feel it, embrace it and enjoy
the feeling." His eyes cut to Ashton, only to shift over to Girard for a
moment. Then back to the other behind him he nodded, moving on as he looked
to the gash in the
Tesarik Five: distance. "Stay silent, and stay alive." His outlook anyway.
Ashton Locke: "Thank you, no, I'll be perfectly happy not enjoying my fear.
If I start enjoying fear, I'll start getting some reputation for being
courageous. Terrible thing, a Thief with courage." He grinned behind that
mask, not that any of
Ashton Locke: them would see it, and gestured to the others. "Well let's go
on then, I'm not one for heading out in front. Unless you suspect traps, but
we're not even in yet."
tempestuous fist: Keeping yourself looking as a coward so that others will
look down upon you instead of respecting you. Ingenious. ::He said to the
Thief's words as he continued to move along the road.:: -d-
Tesarik One: The gash was easy enough to climb to without need of any
checks, and very dark inside.
questing requiem: Being told to be silent and actually carrying it out were
certainly different factors for a minstrel. He may well not have been singing
but it didn't quiet the song in his head a bit. They provided all the reason
to keep moving for-
Tesarik Five: Thats alright, Rohdle would much rather be in the front
anyway. Despite being an elf, and not looking as stout as other fighting
types he was able to hold hisown. Once the climb up the gash was done he
looked inside, attempting to
Tesarik Five: see if anything could be seen. (Low light vision, or two
dark?)
questing requiem: ward .. and to stop before making any daring headwayinto
that very dark gash. -d
Ashton Locke: Thank goodness for darkeye lenses! He'd let at least one
person head in first before he climbed in as well, having a look around to
see what could be seen.
Tesarik One: Everyone roll a Stealth and add your Quickness Bonus.

Tesarik One: Rohdle, Ashton and Kevin kept quiet enough not to alert the
creature within. Girard, not so much. As he climbed to the gash and got
inside, there was a sliding of rocks and dirt behind him.
Ashton Locke: Snuck as well as Kevin despite tripping and cursing under his
breath, apparently! Ha!
Tesarik One: The lair itself is a plain dirt sphere, like a bear's den only
a magnitude larger. All of the walls are of packed earth, scarred with
haphazard claw marks. The roof is mainly earth, but the creature
Tesarik One: was able to claw upward enough to hit the bottom of a crypt it
seems, which is comprised mostly of worked flagstone. Enough earthy material
has been removed to show worked stones - the floor of the
Tesarik One: chamber above. In a corner was a sleeping dire bear! He snorted
and moved a little at all the rocks sliding, then fell into a slumber again.
Ashton Locke: He peered over towards the dire bear at that snort and
produced a throwing knife from seemingly nowhere, but when it went back to
slumbering he tucked the weapon away once again.
questing requiem: Leave it to the minstrel to be spectacularly incapable of
stealth! A hushed curse left Girard at the noise caused by the sliding stone
and whatnot from not far behind. Maybe some lessons from the resident thief
were called for after
Tesarik One: Whatever shall they do? The dire bear is asleep - for now -
they could attack it while it slept. They could wake it up. Or they could
just leave.
questing requiem: this. -d
Tesarik Five: Rohdle would turn to look at Ashton, narrowing his eyes at the
man as he nearly stumbled. Though when Girard seemed not to make it as silent
as he'd like either he shook his head and sighed some. Never the less he
would take note of
Ashton Locke: If that smiling mask was capable of expressions other than
bemusement, he would've given Rohdle a 'what? I wasn't as noisy as that one'
look.
Tesarik Five: the dire bear, and being a man that didn't enjoy attacking
those that slept he would wave a hand toward the others, motioning them to
move about, not to be all grouped together as they were. "Is this the
creature we are here for?"
Tesarik Five: His voice of course given as a soft whisper, not wanting to
wake it....Yet.
tempestuous fist: ::Kevein was moving about silently as he went along with
the others. His body staying low as he looked over and saw the dire bear. His
head tilted to the side and looked to the others to see what they were going
to do against this
tempestuous fist: creature.:: -d-
OnlineHost: Tesarik One rolled 1 20-sided die: 4
Tesarik One: The bear still sleeps while they whisper.
Tesarik One: Dire bears are 12 feet long, and weight nearly 8000lbs btw.
Tesarik One: weigh*
Ashton Locke: He had a feeling this was not, in fact, the creature they were
here for, so he was studying the ceiling. Was there actually a hole up to the
crypt proper or just the bottom of the floor showing?
Tesarik One: They could, as another option, attempt to get into the crypt
and leave the bear snoring behind them.
Tesarik One: Yes a hole, big enough for someone to squeeze through.
Ashton Locke: How high up?
Tesarik One: 10 feet up.
Tesarik One: It seems that the bear just wanted a place to sleep.... it had
dug into the burial mound yes, but had not gotten into the crypt!
Ashton Locke: Oh okay! He rummaged into his cloak, since it essentially
acted as his backpack of holding, and started pulling out rope.
Tesarik One: Though all it's digging did create a hole in the ceiling of the
lair.
Tesarik Five: No answer? Well that gave him enough reason to ignore the
beast for the moment. He looked to Ashton though, and as he saw what he was
looking at he nodded. He was pretty thin, and he didn't have anything on him
other than his weapon
Ashton Locke: Ten feet wasn't that high, sure, but rope to help out never
hurt anybody! He affixed his grappling hook to the end of the overly long
rope, then made a valiant effort at tossing it up through the hole to catch
on the other side, and
Ashton Locke: hopefully not wake up the big nasty bear in the process.
OnlineHost: Tesarik One rolled 1 20-sided die: 13
Tesarik Five: so he thought he could manage. Stepping up to the hole he
looked up and crouched down just a bit before he would spring upward, trying
to jump up and grab ahold of the ledge to pull himself up.
Tesarik Five: (Check needed?)
OnlineHost: Ashton Locke rolled 1 20-sided die: 14
Ashton Locke: (23 for rope toss, unless the jumping guy takes the hook in
the face or something)
Tesarik One: The grappling hook easily hooks into the hole and, the bear
remains asleep.
Tesarik One: No check needed to climb up, just do it in your next post.
questing requiem: Faced with the choice of the dire bear it wasn't much of a
question of what was the wiser path.. progress without gaining disturbed
maneater. Wisely he chose to keep an eye on his allies in this.. why push
forth additional effort if
Ashton Locke: He glanced over to the bear, then took a step back from the
rope and gestured to it in a universal 'after you' gesture.
tempestuous fist: ::Seeing that the rope was made and was there. he'd slowly
nod. They were doing a pretty good job so far. So he'd follow and begun to
climb up when allowed to.:: -d-
Tesarik One: Kevin makes it up.
Tesarik Five: Just before he was about to jump though the man threw up a
rope. Tilting his head some he shrugged. Might as well use it, so climbing up
that rope he would slip himself through the hole, looking around almost
instantly to see if
questing requiem: had the answers? If at least one of them proved capable of
scaling the stone up..then there would.. fun if he did not fall! -d
Tesarik Five: anything was in sight that needed to be pointed out. (Spot.)
Ashton Locke: Good, someone went first. He climbed up as well, going..third!

Tesarik One: What would have been the true entrance of the barrow was in
fact sealed off when the interment ceremony was complete. It is now small,
plain chamber with flagstone floors and crude mortared stone and
Tesarik One: brick walls. Only one "door" in the room leads back to the
other chambers, and it takes the form of a circular hole in the masonry wall,
covered by a sturdy shield.
Tesarik One: (What was that check, Girard mun?)
questing requiem: [ climb, if needed. ]
Tesarik One: (You're good.)
Tesarik One: As the final of the four climbed through the hole into the
barrow entrance, the bear stirred again and awakened, sniffing around then
gave a roar as he peered up at the hole. It swiped it's claw towards them,
but all it managed to
Tesarik One: do was pull the rope down!
Ashton Locke: Once they were up, he gathered up his rope, because he wasn't
going to leave it there! Might be stolen by someone, or gnawed on by the
bear. And not a moment too soon, it....well nevermind then.
Ashton Locke: "Motherfucker." He threw a knife down through the hole at the
bear.

Tesarik One: At the attack with that knife, the bear let go of the rope and
Ashton would have but a moment to pull it up with him.
Ashton Locke: Yank! Coil coil.
Tesarik One: Spot Check
Ashton Locke: "I'll get my knife back later, you big furry fuck." Said to
the bear as he stuffed his rope back into his cloak.
Tesarik One: Spot check?
Tesarik Five: There was a small blink as he watched Ashton. Shaking his head
to that now he would turn toward the only 'door' and make his way slowly over
to it. Opening it, or at least attempting to, he would then move inside if
possible. (
Tesarik Five: Spotted earlier, will do another.)
tempestuous fist: ::Seeing that the bear was down there trying to ravage
them and then Ashton making it up, a light sigh was let out slowly.:: Close

I'd lost my rope I would've been inconsolable." He took a delayed look
around.

Tesarik One: Rohdle spotted three huge clay jars in various corners, as did
Ashton.
questing requiem: Girard couldn't note anything above the music in his head.
-d
Tesarik One: The only other objects in the room are huge fired clay jars
full of powder. Three 4' high jars in the dark corner. If you go to
investigate a jar please state (1), (2) or (3).
Ashton Locke: "Well, there's some jars to go check out." Said as he pointed
towards jar 3 and gave Girard a clap on the shoulder and a nudge towards it.
Tesarik Five: Seeing some jars after being unable to move the shield he
sighed. Well, three of them looked larger than the others, and different
somehow, so he made his way over and looked into the first jar.
tempestuous fist: ::Seeing that there were jaws over there in the area, he'd
raise a brow towards them.:: Hm. ::He'd step forward towards (3) :: -d-
tempestuous fist: ( 2* )
Tesarik One: 1) The first contains what was a simple ointment for battle
wounds, but which has degraded into a foul-smelling lump of grease that will
nauseate anyone breathing the fumes. Rohdle roll an Endurance Check.
questing requiem: " 'Ay, what was that.. " A pause after being made suddenly
alert to the jars, not to mention nudged towards them. Well why why be
cautious..the others certainly weren't! Oh.. well back to the cheery tunes in
his noggin'. -d

Tesarik Five: (Hah. 4)
Tesarik One: Fail!
Ashton Locke: "Go ahead, check out the jar! Maybe there'll be something you
can write a song about in there."
Tesarik One: Rohdle becomes nauseated and takes a -2 to Endurance for
fifteen mun minutes.
Tesarik One: The second jar was, and still is, clean water. It had been
sealed well against the ravages of time.
Tesarik One: Jar 3? Anyone?
questing requiem: " Thats what the minstrel who was magic'd into a glass
globe said. " Mumbled Girard before moving on over to that remaining jar and
took a more cautiounary method to checking it. He kicked it. -d
Tesarik One: Kicked it?! Oh boy!
Ashton Locke: He cringed, because that was exactly how someone pissed off
already angry spirits.
questing requiem: ( there a check for that? ha. )
Tesarik One: The final jar was a powdered drug that has also remained
effective, and its effect is to induce a berserk state. Since the jar had
been kicked, the powder flew into the air and everyone of them needed to take
an Endurance Check!
tempestuous fist: Cool. water. ::He said as he looked over the water and
smiled lightly. :: Well drinking water if anyone gest thirsty. ::His feet
pressed up from the jaw he was at as he just looked over towards
Girard.....:: -d-
Tesarik Five: That smell in the jar made him back up quickly, coughing a bit
as he held his stomach and tried not to throw up. With a firm shake of his
head given he pointed over to that jar as he spoke. "That one....Is not

stirred into the air about them. -d
Tesarik One: Girard somehow resisted the berserker powder, but the
others.... were unable to resist the drug. They found themselves going into a
berserk state as soon as that drug hit them, perhaps because of Ashton's mask
he'd be the last to be
Tesarik One: affected.
OnlineHost: Tesarik One rolled 1 4-sided die: 3
Tesarik One: 3 rounds of next combat and rp time before that.
Tesarik One: Can do nothing but attack for the next combat - no healing, no

off, and it doubles your strength bonus.
questing requiem: " Huh.. that was disappointing. " No issues cropping up,
no angry dead, and far as he could discern his allies weren't ill affected
either! Alchemy no doubt was not in the minstrel's skill knack. -d
Tesarik One: The three now in berserker mode felt an extreme desire to
fight! There was no where to go but back down to the bear, or to try and move
the Shield (DC21 Strength).
Tesarik One: Or kill each other!
Ashton Locke: "God damn bear. I want my bloody knife back." Back down the
hole he went, charging straight at the bear and taking a swing at it! Hey, he
was already mad at the thing, seemed like a good target.

bones, but only a few of these stick out above the surface of an inky liquid

Tesarik Five: Ashton was just about to reach back and slice that damned man

right at Ashton a bit oddly. Yes, this wasn't right. Slowly he put those
swords of his away,
questing requiem: Girard would be making a song about this, all too likely

look like it got hammered into the skull, before the creature died in fact.
Tesarik Five: Rohdle wasn't carrying that damned bear back. It was HUGE and
he just wasn't going to do it. Though moving into the next room he would see

my friends! You will always have a friend in the Berserker Lord Thorulf
Silkbeard! Come,
Tesarik One: ladies!" Several of the ladies disappear along with Silkbeard's
ghost, leaving his sword and other treasure behind in the crypt. But, the
ghostly battlemaidens that stay behind move forward and speak, "We are the
Fates, known in
Tesarik One: various worlds as various things. Some call us the Valkyries.
Consider this... a gift." And then they disappeared, but around each of their
right ring fingers was a band of gold that burned momentarily against
Tesarik One: their skin. Into the gold was engraved various runes. As soon
as the burning subsided, they all knew what the ring did - it was a ring of
the fates, a ring that would give them luck.
Tesarik Five: Poor Ashton, the man just up and bolted out the door. Shaking
his head slowly now he sighed to that, only to grasp the hilts of his blades,
getting ready to finish him off, if Girard didn't. But...He did. Thus he gave

questing requiem: was looking over the 'fates' and soon that golden ring
that was their gift. When had that got on his finger? Far too inraptured with
the ghosts to notice no doubt. In the end Girard was looking over the
physical remains of Silkbeard
Tesarik One: The skeleton also bore a signet ring (no magic), and two
jeweled daggers, and a chest of 5000gp was hidden beneath the man's "throne".

Tesarik Five: (Sorry.......25 total.)

He figured it would at least aid

questing requiem: " Ghosts huh? " No reason to mention he'd probably feel
right at home in such a place. The creepy, brief smile he acquired at the

not be facing spirits..
tempestuous fist: Kevin*
questing requiem: doesn't seem we're well equiped for that sort. " He could
easily be wrong..who knew what tricks Ashton had up his sleeves!
Once the climb up the gash was done he
looked inside, attempting to

creature within.
"Is this the
creature we are here for?"

wake it....Yet.

Tesarik One: Silkbeard roared in rage when the minstrel went to shadows.
"Goddamnit stay here and fight like a MAN!" And then he missed Ashton, which
pissed him off more.
Tesarik One: Rohdle-
Tesarik Five: He was just about to try and aid Girard, only to find him turn
into a shadow. Blinking, he didn't know what was more odd, the singing of the
sudden shadow. Never the less he had a task at hand. "You are outmatched.
Yield, or have
Tesarik Five: your remains destroyed." He offered him a chance, though even
as he offered that chance he was striking, drawing his blades across bone as
nimble feet shifted to spin him around to aid with his attack.

Tesarik One: As his shortsword strikes the skeleton form of Thorulf
Silkbeard, his skeleton falls into a pile of broken bones, his skull settling
at the top. The spirit of Silkbeard leaps out of the fallen bones,
brandishing his now
Tesarik One: ethereal double-bladed sword as his laughter fills the area.
"Well done, well done! It could have gone longer, much longer, but well done
Thus he gave
a small smile
Tesarik One: [Golden Ring of the Fates : This ring will allow you, once per
combat, to re-roll your Strike and take the better roll.]

Tesarik Five: as he secured those swords onto his back. Moving to the pile
of bones he then reached down to pick up the dead mans sword and prop it up
on his shoulder. After all, he had demanded that weapon as a trophy for the
win. Though when
tempestuous fist: ::Seeing that he now had a bit of "bling bling" on, Kevin
grinned wide as he looked up towards them and nodded.:: Thank you. ::He said
as he looked down to the golden ring. :: -d-
questing requiem: When that last blow had been dealt, Girard proved to be
paticularly surprised when the skeleton fell apart with skull atop the
remains. That was.. fun! Or so the exhilrated minstrel thought in the
aftermatch just about the time he
Tesarik Five: the ghosts came to him and the others he looked them over just
a bit. "Gift?" Well, they were gone before he could do anything else. A sharp
wince of pain from the burn had his eyes going to that hand of his, only to
find the ring
questing requiem: was looking over the 'fates' and soon that golden ring
that was their gift.
Tesarik Five: placed there. "Collect what you want, I think we are done
here." At least he was! Well, thats what he thought anyway. (Spot/Search.)

beside the 'throne'.
Ashton Locke: Soon as he felt something on his finger he cursed and yanked
off his mask, tugged off his glove and got his dagger ready to just take that
damn finger off, before realizing that might be a wee bit too much panic.
Tesarik Five: (Sorry.......25 total.)
Tesarik One: He'd easily find that gold secreted away!
Tesarik Five: Haz goldz.
Ashton Locke: Instead, he tapped his dagger against the ring, frowned, then
tugged it off, assuming it came off.
Tesarik One: It came off, but would not work for anyone but him. It was just
a pretty gold ring.
questing requiem: and that rather impressive double bladed sword.. he was
rather interested in that blade! And at least one of those jewled daggers..
alas those were a pair. If there was time after the treasure acquiring he'd
pick up that signet ring
Tesarik One: Signet Ring to Girard.
Tesarik One: There's a shield, and 2 daggers left.
Ashton Locke: He pocketed the ring then, and went back down the hole to skin
the bear, he'd be takin' that barskin! And it was meat, he could cut into it,
and fuck ghosts.
Ashton Locke: With their appearing and their ghostly mannerisms.
questing requiem: and sing a brief lament for the rather impressive spirit.
And then.. to the daggers! -d
Tesarik One: Kevin gets the shield then!
questing requiem: [ wasn't there a double blade sword? ha. ]
Tesarik One: (Yeah Roh claimed it, gotta talk to him.)
questing requiem: [ nah, just clarifying. ]
tempestuous fist: ::Getting the shield, Kevin looked at it and then looked
at a empty area as he thre the shield, like captian america.::
Tesarik One: It was a good thing Silkbeard was gone or he'd been cussin at
his shield being tossed around.
Tesarik One: And so, they'd found treasure, had a little fight, and gotten
bear meat for Maria among other things..... plus they completed the job! They
could find their way out with ease, and back to where the portal was still
open, waiting for
Tesarik One: them!

questing requiem: Girard could always use free food.. and bones in which to
have a bone sword made! -d
Tesarik Five: With as much meat as was on that bear........Just chop off a
leg and drag that bad boy back. Could feed a family for a month.
questing requiem: [ now that was fun. ]
Tesarik One: The 5k gold is being split per Roh's orders: 1k to Roh, Kevin,
Girard, 2k to Ash since he didn't get any loot but the ring.
Tesarik One: Glad you had fun!
Ashton Locke: <3
Tesarik Five: (Always enjoy your adventures.)
Ashton Locke: Nicer than Ash, he would've kept all the gold if he'd been the
one to find it. Ha!
questing requiem: No honor among thieves, or minstrels.. Girard would have
done the same..
tempestuous fist: Kevin loved his bling bling, but would have split it~
