Ashton Locke: He gave her hands a good little squeeze when she took them and
then ...bam. Teleporting. He still hadn't gotten used to that, but at least
so far it hadn't made him feel sick! He shivered a bit afterwards though, and
looked around a
Ashton Locke: bit. Ooo, it was pretty in here. It was almost tempted to chip
off some of the walls or the floor and see what that crystal was worth, ha!
But no, he had a feeling it wouldnt' work anyway. He followed along closely
so she wouldn't
Ashton Locke: have to be dragging him around, nodding a bit. "That does not
sound like a good thing." The leypoints being destroyed, that is.
Tesarik One: *It was not. All of our kind were destroyed with the leypoints.
The only magiken that lived were the ones that were out researching and not
within the leypoints. At the time of the Telluric Ripple, I would say that
90% of the
Tesarik One: magiken rarely if ever left the leypoint area. It is safe to
say that there were only a handful of our kind in existence directly after
the disaster. That's why there's still so few of us. For a thousand years a
leypoint that had a
Tesarik One: working birthing chamber could not be found, so we couldn't
even reproduce. It was the ruin in Umbra Victus that held a working birthing
chamber which allowed our creator's creators to reproduce.* She wasn't sure
if he even cared
Tesarik One: about their history, but she was just talking in her soft sweet
voice as they walked through the archway. The area they entered now looked
almost like a mirror house at a fair. Walls and walls of shining black
crystal. If he let
Tesarik One: her hand go, he'd no doubt slam into a wall, though she moved
through it like it was nothing. *Careful.*
Ashton Locke: He frowned at that, because thinking of it from their point of
view..if something crazy happened and 90% of humans were just wiped out like
that, it'd be dreadful! He gave her hand another squeeze as if in a
comforting fashion as
Ashton Locke: she spoke on it, and followed along, listening. He did care,
because he always liked learning new things! "I see." And then he smiled
again at her warning. "No need to be careful so long as I don't let go of
your hand, unless of
Ashton Locke: course you lead me right into a wall."
Tesarik One: *The floor is slippery, and we are nearing an area that was
destroyed.* She did keep hold of his hand as she moved through the chamber
this way and that, sometimes trailing her hand along the smooth wall. This
held small sconces as
Tesarik One: well, and as they passed through an area, the sconces turned
off, and more turned on before them. It was also a decently warm temperature
within the place so far as well, very comfortable. *All those that died,
instantly their
Tesarik One: energy was transferred to the leymind... which is why we know
so very much. We all can tap into the leymind, which is the thoughts,
knowledge and information that every magiken that has come before us held.
When the surge of
Tesarik One: information hit the leymind, those that DID survive were
knocked into a meditative state for some time until they recovered.*
Ashton Locke: "Hmm, I suppose that makes sense." Well it didn't really,
since he didn't know a damn thing about the leymind, but that little bit of
description at least explained why she knew just about everything he'd needed
to know! He was
Ashton Locke: quite content to keep hold of her hand as they moved along,
and careful not to try and walk too quickly so he didn't slip on the slippery
floor! That just wouldn't be good, since he'd probably drag her down with him
if he fell.
Tesarik One: *Those who they were studying, or residing with who were not
magiken, many thought the magiken had died. Many magiken were buried, or put
in crypts during this time.* She frowned, it was all a dark part of their
history. *Anyway,
Tesarik One: this isn't exactly what I wanted to show you but ...* She
stepped through another dark arch, and as they passed through the area before
them lit up as well. Though, not nearly as bright as the other rooms as he
could see much of
Tesarik One: this area was destroyed. The crystal was cracked and in massive
piles all over, as if the room had blown up. Shelves lined the very large
room, with thin sheets of crystal stacked on them. Most were cracked, or even
broken. If he
Tesarik One: wanted a chunk of crystal this was one of many places he could
take some. She let go of his hand and crawled over a pile of crystal chunks
towards the wall, then pulled out a few sheets of crystal, then came back
over to him. *These
Tesarik One: are how we store information.* She handed one to him, about the
size of a sheet of paper, thin, and black.
Ashton Locke: He frowned at that as well. "That seems a rather terrible
thing to happen when one is not truly dead." Well..the buried part anyway.
Put into a crypt might not be so bad, if there was some way to get out! He
nodded again when she
Ashton Locke: said it wasn't exactly what she wanted to show him, and
continued on, squinting a little as if that'd help him see better in the
darker room. He stepped over to the pile of broken crystal chunks, and while
she was busy crawling over
Ashton Locke: them and getting a few sheets of the crystal, he took a few
bits and stuck them in his bag for..er..safekeeping, yeah. He looked back to
her as she returned and took the sheet of crystal, lifting a brow. "How
exactly do they store
Ashton Locke: information?"
Tesarik One: She held her crystal sheet in front of her and tapped a finger
on the bottom. The crystal lit up, covered from top to bottom in magiken
heiroglyphics which to non-magiken looked a lot like
Tesarik One: nonsense chicken scratch. The heiroglyphics slowly scrolled
downwards as his eyes moved down the sheet as if it knew he was getting close
to the bottom even though he couldn't understand a word of it. If he looked
away, it would go
Tesarik One: dark again. *It is a psionic process to inscribe them.*
Ashton Locke: "Very interesting. How much information can be stored on one?"
And no, he couldn't read it at all, of course, but it was interesting that it
scrolled along. "And can the process of making them be taught, or is it
something only your
Ashton Locke: kind can do?"
Tesarik One: *About 10 mundane book's worth, give or take. Yes, it's not an
intricate process if one is a psion to store information into crystal. of
course it would be stored in their own language, not our arcane scratchings.
The sad thing is
Tesarik One: if we all die... all this information dies with us. Even the
most adept at languages, has been unable to decipher our writing. Some of our
information has been translated between magiken and scribe... but only a
small portion of our
Tesarik One: knowledge.* She smiled and shrugged. *You can keep that if you
wish.* She glanced around the large ruined area and gave a sigh.
Ashton Locke: "I see. I think if you want more information, or at the very
least money to get some more magical items, the librarians at the Great
Library of Throal would be very happy to learn this. There are so many books
in that place that
Ashton Locke: last I checked, it was starting to run out of room. I'm sure
they'd be very willing to part with some gold in exchange for someone being
taught how to make these." He nodded, and then slid the incomprehensible
crystal sheet into his
Ashton Locke: pack as well, then stepped over to her after her sigh and
slipped an arm around her waist to give her a little squeeze.
Tesarik One: *I will keep that in mind.* She nodded a little, and then
chewed on her bottom lip as she looked around the dimly lit library. Such a
shame that such a great, and powerful and perhaps far too arrogant race would
fall like hers did.
Tesarik One: As she felt his arm around her waist though, she was pulled to
the present and away from the clamoring voices of the leymind. Turning to
face him she leaned in close and slid her arms around him, turning so she
faced him, and
Tesarik One: nuzzled into his neck. *Am I boring you, darling?*
Ashton Locke: Well...that's what tended to happen to powerful, great,
arrogant races! Although they also tended to not leave any behind if they
failed catastrophically enough, so her kind was at least ahead in that
respect. He smiled and moved
Ashton Locke: a hand up to brush fingers through her hair a little. Or at
least rub at it near her scalp if it was all crazily braided and such. "Not
at all, dearest. I love learning more about you and your kind."
Tesarik One: Her hair was easy enough to brush through today as she'd left
it hanging down across her shoulders, not in the intricate styles she
favored. She closed her eyes and kissed his neck at the affection, and
nuzzled a little more when he
Tesarik One: said such kind words. She held herself close to him a few more
minutes, and then pulled away and began walking across the area towards
another large archway, tugging him with her by her hand which caught his.
They had to be careful
Tesarik One: on the rubble, much of which was sharpened edges. When they
reached the archway, it did not light up as she passed through, and she was
forced to use her darksight spell to see. She kept a hand on him in case he
did not have means
Tesarik One: of darksight. The path seemed to slope downwards.
Ashton Locke: He shivered at the kiss to his neck with a little 'mmm' of a
moan as well, and continued petting throuh her hair at the extra nuzzling.
And once they were moving again he followed along, and yes he took care at
the rubble, and made
Ashton Locke: sure she did as well! Oh dear. He gave a tug to her hand when
it didn't light up. "One moment, lovely." Into the pack he went, and he
popped in his darkeye lenses so he could see in the dark! Yay! That done, he
took her hand again
Ashton Locke: and nodded. "Alright, ready when you are."
Tesarik One: She was glad he had means to see in the dark! That meant she
didn't have to be as careful with him if he couldn't as much of the massive
structure was too broken to work right. So through the dark crystal
passageway they went, there
Tesarik One: were archways and hallways to the left and the right that they
passed by, until the main hall they were walking through turned sharply to
the right, and began to slope upwards this time. She stopped at what looked
like a flat smooth
Tesarik One: wall, and pressed her hand to it, her hand sunk within. A
glance over her shoulder to him and then she walked right through it. Her
hand motioned him through as well. It was illusionary.
Ashton Locke: He tilted his head when she wound up leading him to a flat
smooth wall, but he did keep the route in mind as much as possible in case he
needed to get himself back for some reason! And then her hand sunk into the
wall, aahhh. He
Ashton Locke: grinned, since illusions always made him happy, and he walked
throught he wall right after her. "Interesting. Must be hell learning how to
navigate this place."
Tesarik One: *They are all set up basically the same, just put together
differently. if that makes sense. That way if someone were to get into one on
one world, they would not necessarily be able to find their way in another
world's leypoint.*
Tesarik One: It was dark in this room as well, a much smaller room. But with
their darksight they'd see all manner of things piled up in crates, and on
shelves from floor to ceiling. Baskets of rings, and amulets. Swords and
other weapons. Armor
Tesarik One: of various types. It was one of their treasure rooms, mundane
treasure or items that they'd used the magic to accomplish something. Since
magiken could drain items of magic to heal, and such. She figured as a thief
he could
Tesarik One: appreciate their growing stash. *This is our throwaway
treasure. We sell it when we need to.*
Ashton Locke: "Ahh, I suppose that amkes sense. Sort of." He shrugged, and
then blinked when he saw what was in the room. that was just..all manner of
stuff! And here he'd had to pay for his gear, bah. Surely he could've found
some nice handy
Ashton Locke: stuff amongst all these goodies! He didn't really stash stuff,
after all, just gear. "Throwaway treasure. I could likely retire just on the
contents of the room. I wouldn't, of course, because then I wouldn't have
anything to do for
Ashton Locke: fun, but I probably could." Nod.
Tesarik One: She just stared at him a moment ,and then smiled. She'd told
him she could take care of him, now he saw her reasonings. Especially with
her next words. *This is one of many and this isn't even our magical items
stash. Of course our
Tesarik One: mundane stash is much bigger. We also have rooms solely filled
with gold coins and ingots, silver, and copper thousands of years old to the
present. We have no lack of anything, nor will you lack anything. But, it
isn't for us - or
Tesarik One: you - to become lazy and complacent.* She nodded and then
headed back through the wall into the hallway.
Ashton Locke: "I never plan on becoming lazy and complacent. If I retire
from thieving it will be because I am too old, or too wounded to be
successful at it. Still, it seems awfully terrible to make me pay my
hard-earned gold for a simple dagger
Ashton Locke: when you've probably got thousands of them." He chuckled and
winked to her, then followed along as she led the way back out!
Tesarik One: She lifted a brow. *I offered you gold, and you refused it. So
don't even say that...* She smirked and gave him a smack on his ass when he'd
stepped through.
