RETRAINING YOUR CHARACTER
Unfortunately there are times when you create a character and decide down the road that you wish they could have gone a different path. We have instituted "Retraining" into our game just for those cases, but it is going to be expensive since it basically allows you to completely remake your character without losing ALL your XP and starting over.
Send all requests for any changes, as well as Retraining to the Storyline Leader (tesarikone).
RACE: You may change your race and racial skills ONLY if you have an actual storyline that can be turned in to justify it logically, such as being infected with lycanthropy or being sired as a vampire. If you have a damn good reason why your race has changed, but you aren't going to change anything else, talk to (tesarikone) to work that out. You don't have to completely retrain, and it will not cost anything to simply switch out a race and your racial skills ONLY.
COST: Free with a good reasoning.
FLAWS: Flaws can be switched out, and will cost a flat gold cost. Flaws have always been and always will be OPTIONAL so if you take one, you better be sure you want your char to be flawed in that way. I will not allow you to simply 'get rid' of a flaw you've chosen, I will only let you switch a new flaw that you feel fits better.
COST: 20,000gp and 5 Reputation
TRAIT POINTS: To make things easier for retraining, we will have a flat fee for switching trait points that must be paid whether you are retraining fully, or just wanting to readjust your trait points.
COST: 5,000gp per trait point
RETRAINING COST: 1,000gp per trait point
If you are in the process of retraining class/profession and having to earn retraining xp, then you get a discount on changing trait points.
CLASS & PROFESSION: This is our focus on retraining, whether you simply want to take a different profession in the same class you've chosen, or completely retrain class and profession.
SKILLS: If all you wish to do is switch out a few skills, we have a way to do that without retraining in the Emporium, so please see our skill change fee there! But, if you change your class and/or profession you're going to have to completely redo your skills and so you'd need to go by the retraining rules below
RULES FOR RETRAINING
1. A written-out story or reasoning why your character is retraining must accompany any request to retrain. You need to have a good, logical reason in-character please.
2. Retraining your character does not make you lose the XP and Dice that you've already gained BUT you cannot earn any more XP or higher dice until you finish your retraining. Whatever level you go back to change, that is where you start earning XP and you must retrain in your new class/profession to work up to the point where you were before you decided to retrain. This ONLY concerns XP, you are still officially whatever rank and dice you are "paused" at, but your XP from that point is frozen until you gain enough XP to reach it again.
Primary Class Change: You start at 0XP and work your way up from there.
Primary Profession Change: You start out at 40XP and work your way up from there.
Secondary Class Change: You start out at 200XP and work your way up from there.
Secondary Profession Change: You start out at 550XP and work your way up from there.
3. As you retrain your character and gain XP, you will choose your class/profession and skills as you work your way up again. Any skills related to your former class/profession should be removed from your dossier and left blank, for you to redo as you rank up.
4. If you have spells or combat maneuvers, you may trade out current spells or CM's for more appropriate ones if necessary without any limits of how many. Your spells freeze when you begin to retrain, so if you retrain and only have 5 spells written, that's how many you have until you begin to rank up and can again take them 2 spells at a time per dice rank.
5. It will also cost GOLD for you to retrain your character. Each class or profession you are retraining costs 10,000gp. You do not have to pay it as you retrain until you actually reach that level. So if you were retraining your Secondary Class and Profession, you'd pay the 10,000 to switch your class, and then when you rank up enough in retraining xp to pick your secondary profession, you'd pay another 10,000gp then.
6. It also costs GOLD to change your skills out as you earn them with retraining xp. For every skill you are switching out, you will need to pay 5,000gp.
7. If you need to change your trait point allotment, you may do that separately and that costs GOLD as well. Since you may or may not have to change trait points, we are going to have that be a separate issue than the total retraining. If you are retraining, you will get a discount on the cost for changing trait points; for you it will cost 1,000gp each.
8. Diamond ranks are not listed because if you reach Diamond Rank, you are set. We will not allow retraining when you reach Diamond. End of story.
