Update 3.30
Greetings, OH Members:
I am sorry that this is coming out a day late but I got food poisoning Saturday Night and had to go to the Hospital ER on Sunday. So, a little late, but no less important!
For those of you whose professions gained new skills these past few weeks, I forgot last week to let you know that I am allowing THREE FREE SWITCHES, so if you'd like to switch out some old skills for NEW ONES ONLY then please send those switches to (scaleschange). Again, you may only switch out old skills with new ones added in July, this is not a free for all switcharoo to anything you want.
The Midsummer Games had a lot of activity this year, far more than last year, so thank you all. The prizes have been sent, so enjoy! Our Barn Dance on this past Saturday had a good number of attendees as well, so I'm hoping in the future we'll have more get-togethers like that as it was just nice to be able to have our characters mingle with each other.
Please be sure to read #8 below about DM's and their final say in quests. I urge all current DM's to nip any arguing in the bud quickly. Listen to what they have to say, then make your decision. This should take mere moments. If someone continues to harrass you, or has become the "OH Police" and hassles you over and over throughout a quest/mission over every little item, then you have permission from me to very politely tell them "I am the DM, and I do not need your advice, so either continue to participate and enjoy your time, or feel free to leave my quest." You can c&p those exact words if need be.
MIDSUMMER GAMES SANDCASTLE STORY
Many came together to build a sandcastle 10 words at a time, here are the results!
There it was, a stretch of pristine white sand ready for an amazing sand castle on the beach. When the water came wetting the sand to make it perfect. While Nimbus made sure the skies were clear of clouds. With clear skies, the time for castle building was now! The tools were quickly gathered, the shovel and the pail. Laughter could be heard, and delights for all to see. Viola sat in the sand, and began to dig a trench to start the grand moat that surrounds the castle. Nimbus would use a bucket to pile damp sand up. The wet sand was just prime for the castle building. Wolfgang saw fit to take that wet sand and build the base of the castle so that it wouldn't fall. "More sand!" he shouted as he pounded the sand into the round shape while Nimbus poured more sand for him. Changing his mind, he instead squished it into small bricks which Halcyon would then use to start building the castle Bricks coming together as the base of the future castle. While they built, beady eyes of the hermit crab watched. Little fingers added to the mix, working on fancy details. Well with the castle coming along, little claws clicked waiting. Little shells were found, all the same size, to be used Those little shells glistened in the sun light like pearls. They would make excellent decor pieces, sand and shell blending, and soon sparkling sand, and gleaming shell was taking shape into an awesome castle, GarThog used talons to make windows and pretty pieces of blue and green seaglass became windowpanes. Next, four turrets were added to adorn the sandy base. A castle had to have a moat, and moats needed a sea monster! So, Halcyon decided to look for a lobster! A big, red lobster! But, that would not fit. GarThog placed a piece of wood, as a drawbridge, over water, so Nimbus brought over a bucket of it quickly to fill in the gap, but there was no monster or was there? A sand crab would scuttle by disturbed. Could he be the monster? Would he stay in the castle moat? Pushing the crab into the moat Nimbus grinned. The dragon looked over as the crab climbed back out.
DARK OMENS STORY ARC UPDATE
The Triple Eclipse is soon approaching! Will it be the end of Arith as we know it? I dunno yet! Maybe.......
CRAFTING POINTS
Don't forget, if you have crafting skills it's time for you to ask for your 10 crafting points from (psionicwanderer) . If you have skills or items that give you more points, you need to claim that on your email. This week also holds the end of the month, so if you have skills or items that give you special things each month like Pecunia, then it's almost time to roll for those too!
WEEKLY CHALLENGE
Your challenge this week is to use the Shoutbox at the very bottom of our message board to post rumors, gossip, intrigue, or tidbits of information. You may post once a day for credit!
You can earn 1XP a day for your rumors, gossip, and information.
Be sure you c&p your shout and email it to me at (tesarikone) so that it doesn't disappear out of the shoutbox as others use it. When you send me your shout, let me know which of your characters you want the XP to go to. If you'd like to save up all 7 shouts and send it to me at the end of the week, I'll issue the XP at one time. If you don't c&p your posts and they scroll out of the shoutbox, then you lose xp for those shouts!!!
NEW CHARACTER BONUS & RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE
We have an incentive to new characters! New characters will start at Crystal Adept with 30XP and 2d32 dice. They will also be given 3,000gp to outfit their character.
Recruiters, if you recruit a new player (not just someone's new character), then you will receive 10XP & 2000gp per player that actually fills out an application correctly and is accepted! You may put this xp & gp on any character you wish.

UPDATES, PATCHES, CLARIFICATIONS
1. LOSE TURNS AND STUNS
Not all lose turn skills are stuns, be sure to read your skill description carefully and use logic. Above all that, the DM is the leader of any quest or mission they are running and if they determine that a certain action is not a stun, or is a stun, do not argue. If there are any major issues with DM's, or Mission Mod Becca will always let them know. For example, if someone just trips over their feet, and are taking one turn to stand up, that isn't a stun. They weren't knocked out, they still have the use of all their mental faculties, their DDC is not 10. But if someone gets bashed on the head with a shield, they are stunned.
Shield Bash : Once per combat, you can use your shield to bash a foe, rattling their brain and stunning them if they fail an Endurance check of DC15 , taking them out as many rounds as allowed per your rank.
Prerequisite: Knight, Paladin, Fighter OR Priest AND uses a shield.
COMBAT - Lose Turn
(V - Use a Shield)
Deceptive Dance: This is the culmination of both the swordmaster's fluid graceful steps as well as their precise and deadly flourish of weapon. They attack their target with such a graceful tenacity that the assault leaves their victim stunned and confused, losing as many turns of combat as allowed by rank as well as taking damage from the attack. A willpower save is given every round of DC10 + the swordmaster's Quickness.
Prerequisite: Swordmaster (Primary)

2. LOSE TURN SKILLS AND SAVES
Magic lose turns get a save every round, and it was my mistake that regular lost turns did not get them as well. The rule was that there were saves, what were the saves? No worries, if you have a LOSE TURN skill of any sort for your character, take a moment to look it up once more and see if a save has been added.
3. ENGINEERING KNACK
Engineering Knack now only requires Alchemy, so if you took Artisan Crafting and you do not wish to keep it, you may freely swap out another skill, just be sure to let our Class Mod know what you're switching out and that it's a free switch.
4. TRUE RESURRECTION IS ACTUALLY WORTH TAKING
There was some discrepancy between Rezz the Dead, Improved Rezz, and True Resurrection so it's been clarified. You also need Improved Rezz to take True Rezz.
True Resurrection: This allows a priest to bring somebody back from the dead that has been dead up to 100 years. This can even be done if the body has been completely destroyed, as long as you can identify the deceased such as stating their name and birth date. This can also be used if someone has been turned undead and then destroyed. This cannot be used to rezz someone who has died of old age, though.
Prerequisites: Priest (Primary), Improved Rezz Skill, Obsidian Rank

A shield or suit of armor with this special ability is covered with jagged burrs and razor-sharp serrations that saw and grind whenever the wearer is entangled or grappled by a creature. Any creature succeeding at an attack that brings them into close contact with the armor takes an extra +5 damage as the barbs and blades bite into it.
6. MINDBLADE / MINDBLADE ENHANCEMENT
This was actually supposed to have been done for last week, but I got overwhelmed and forgot about it. Already if you are human with psionic affinity you can take it, it was supposed to be open to spellborn as well. It is fixed now. So if you are a Human with Psionic Affinity and meet the other prereqs you can take it - if you are a Psion you can take it, and if you are a Spellborn you can take it!
7. FLAW: STRANGE LUCK
Since I've gotten complaints from several sources over the use of this flaw, I've clarified it. And remember, you can be fined 100XP for not abiding by your flaws since they were OPTIONAL. And abiding by half the flaw but not the other half is still failing to abide.
As far as Strange Luck goes - it says creatures.... it always has said creatures. That does not mean just allies. If you roll a 1 then ALL CREATURES allies and enemies in the area (per the DM's final say) are included in the roll. Let the DM roll, and that person falls over. If you roll a 20, then the same works... it's all creatures, allies and enemies included, and the DM can roll to see who gets healed.
Strange Luck
Fate has a strange way with you.
Penalty: When you roll a critical fail '1' on strike, the closest creature (ally or enemy) to you falls prone (DM may randomly chose if multiples). When you roll a natural critical hit of '20' on a strike, the closest creature (ally or enemy) to you heals 10hp (DM may randomly chose if multiple).
8. DM HAS FINAL SAY - PLEASE READ
I want to remind you all that if you choose to go on a quest or mission ran by a DM, then you need to realize that the DM has final say. The DM also has the ability to ban you from coming on his/her quests for a time or for good if you constantly cause issues. I do not ever want to hear from a DM again that one of my OH members is arguing over a DM's call in the chat or in IM. Even if you do not agree on their call (for anything, combat, skills, use of items, magic etc), you leave it alone and continue. If the issue is severe enough, you can always go to Becca, our Missions Mod or even to me if necessary, but there is NEVER a reason to take up precious time arguing with the DM - if the issue is game-breaking, I can assure you that either Becca or myself will talk to the DM.
And I do mean arguing - I'm not talking about asking for clarification once in IM or telling them that's not how another DM did it, I'm talking about over and over trying to bully/browbeat/convince a DM their call is wrong. Unfortunately, it's been happening lately and this needs to stop.
If you do not like how a DM is running their quest, there is a very easy solution : leave the quest.
If you do not like how a DM is running their quest on a long-term basis, there is a very easy solution as well: do not attend these quests.
9. GRAPPLING

In the environments: flora and fauna section of our boards, what is the name of this swamp natural hazard?
A ??? occurs when hosts of unseelie fairies and non-corrupted fairies engaged in mid-air battle. The sounds of their fighting, including spells, shouts and clanging weapons can be heard by witnesses on the ground and after one of these conflicts, the mud, reeds, trees, water and rocks are stained with their blood and gore. Damage to bystanders is common from stray spells, wayward missiles, etc.
