Ashton Locke [ashtonlocke] & Talia d'Syr [bioodswornvow]
Ashton Locke: Alright! So, after their little walk when his leg was wounded, and they managed to save a poor girl from getting kidnapped, he'd managed to get a bit of info out of the last of the robed figures before he bled out. After a moment to plan and wait for the opportune moment, Ashton had decided it was time to investigate things further! So he had invited Talia, and once they'd prepared for just about any occasion (well..he had, anyway), they were on their way to the location the cultist said their base of operations as! Hurray!
bIoodsworn vow: She was all for going out for some adventure, so she made
herself ready with all the (very few) items she had, and with Ashton she'd
move. Her long hair was pulled back into a tight braid to stay out of her
way, and she wore dark leather armor and a cloak with the hood up for now. She was being quiet, and being sneaky as she followed him to where this base was.
Ashton Locke: She could be sneaky all she wanted! He wasn't bothering, since they had to go through a good bit of the city to get to where they were
going, ha! Andy'd just assume she chit-chatted with him while they walked,
but eventually, as the part of town they were in got progressively more...sinister, somehow..he cut off the chatter and then stopped moving, deciding to just have a look around for now, up and down the street. "Hm, we must be getting close." Hell, the change in the atmosphere might just be all in his head, too. It was hard to say sometimes.
bIoodsworn vow: Yes, she'd talk to him and she was just regularly sneaky,
she couldn't help it. As the chatter stopped, she turned her gaze about her
being more aware of her surroundings even more so now. She gave a nod to him when he said they were getting close, then stepped up near him to whisper. "What's our goal? Are we taking out the group, or stealing something?"
Ashton Locke: "Well, it would be nice to take out the group, would it not?"
He grinned a little. "The problem is, I have no idea how large or well-armed
the group is. Tonight, we're just going to have a look around, see what we
can see. Perhaps steal something if we find anything worthwhile. Rescue any
more kidnapped folks they have inside." He shrugged. "I hadn't planned on
anything in particular, which is why I planned for just about everything."
bIoodsworn vow: "I'm hungry." That was her answer to taking out the group,
yes indeed the spider would like to fill her blood pool. She hadn't really
had it full in a while. She nodded, and gave him a smack on his ass...for
good luck. "Sounds like fun to me. I'll just try to keep you alive."
Ashton Locke: "...." He gave her a blank stare when she said she was hungry.
And then recognition would settle in on his face, assuming she'd told him she
fed on blood! Andy couldn't remember if he knew that or not. He grinned at
the smack on his ass and her last statement. "Oh good! I do feel much safer,
having you with me. Now then.." He took a better look around the street to
try and figure out where they were. "Let's proceed a bit more quietly now,
since I'm not sure exactly where this place is, and I'd rather not stumble upon
it all noisily."
bIoodsworn vow: She stared back at him, with a little quirk of the side of
her lips. She'd told him what she was, and that she needed blood to do
certain things. "Yeah, you should, cause my sword is huge." She grinned.
Then, she got very quiet, trying hard so that even her steps were muted as they walked along.
Ashton Locke: He, of course, made it look easy. He was putting just as much
effort into staying quiet as she was, of course, he was just...excessively
used to it, so the effort didn't tend to show. He was taking note of all the
buildings, since he was given a general location and a description, but nothing
terribly specific. He did lean in after a moment to whisper! "Let me know if
you see any of these with a wrought iron gate and a door marked with drops of blood carved into the frame above it. It'll be subtle and hard to see, but
it should be on one of these."
bIoodsworn vow: She nodded. Too bad she didn't have an exceptional sense of smell. Her sight was really good though. As they moved along, she now had something more specific to look for and so she focused upon finding the
wrought iron gate with a door marked as he'd said it should be.
Ashton Locke: Unfortunately, most of these damned buildings in this part of
town had wrought iron fences and gates! Boo. The carving in the door frame
would be more tough. Really he was looking for anything red, since, he
figured the carving wouldn't be indentifiable as blood unless it was painted! So
he crept along, sticking to shadows on the occasions when he moved closer to
get a better look at door frames.
bIoodsworn vow: Not only was she very good at seeing, but she could see in
the dark with her darkvision ability, so she moved to the other side of the
street for now, peering at the doors so she could look on the side that
Ashton wasn't looking at.
Ashton Locke: (Hmmm, let's roll spot checks to see who finds it!)

bIoodsworn vow: So much for her good eyesight.
Ashton Locke: (+9 = 26)
Ashton Locke: She had perfectly good eyesight! The problem wasn't that she
couldn't see, it was that the carving was on a house on Ashton's side of the
street! He waited until she looked over to him then waved her over and
pointed at the door frame, before slinking closer to the house to peek inside a
window!
bIoodsworn vow: Well that made sense! She saw him waving her over, so she
crept across the lane to his side, and peered at the house he'd found. When
he moved in closer, she did as well, moving to another window to peer in as
well.
Ashton Locke: It was a rather big, old, well-taken-care-of house. Not quite
a mansion, but it'd be enough to house quite a few people! Upon peeking into
the window, he saw..an empty room. "Well that was disappointing." Said in a
whisper, before he started moving around the house, peeking into every window he could, getting an idea of how the place was laid out, and if anyone was on the ground floor. So far, nothing. Perhaps they were all out kidnapping!
bIoodsworn vow: She peeked into the windows as well, and her gaze moved
upwards to the roof and the story above. She grinned and crept up behind
Ashton and tapped his shoulder, then whispered, "Want me to check out the
second story?" Not only could she shapeshift and climb to the second, she was also extremely proficient upon the rooftops as she'd spent far too much time during her life on the rooftops.
Ashton Locke: "Now that, darling, is a fantastic idea. You go ahead and do
that, I'm going to get myself a little sketch of the layout." He was also a
shingle runner! The problem was looking into the windows without falling, or
rigging himself up with rope and all that. Her way would be much easier. Once
that was said, he winked to her, then pulled out some paper and a pen to
start sketching.
bIoodsworn vow: Aww, they had something in common. She nodded, and since she really didn't need to shift completely, just did enough so that she could crawl up the side of the building. Up she went, so that she could peek into the windows on the second story. Grabbing the windowsill, once she was sure no one was in the room of that window, she tugged herself upwards and climbed onto the roof, then very quietly but expertly ran across the roof so she could then climb down enough to look into those rooms as well. She noted everything she could see, bedrooms, where the doors were, and such, and soon came sneaking up next to Ashton and whispered into his ear what she'd seen so he could put that on his map as well.
Ashton Locke: She would spot a couple people sleeping in their beds on the
second floor. Each bedroom seemed to house about four people, all of them
seeming rather regular! Humans, elves, dwarves, no particular racial bias was
apparent. There were five of those bedrooms she'd be able to see, and a few
rooms had the curtains drawn so who knows what was in them! He was just
making a quick sketch, so he was done with his part when she finished, then
worked with her to sketch out the second floor as well, frowning at how many people were present. "Hm. Well I don't think we'll be taking them on by
ourselves."
bIoodsworn vow: "That is a lot of people just for the two of us. Bet we
could sneak in though and steal something. What do you think? Or is this good enough information?" She frowned and peered up again to the second floor to one of the windows that she hadn't been able to look inside. She was tempted to go up there again and see if she could open the window. A lot of times she found people were far less likely to lock windows on second floors or higher as they really did not have any fears that anyone would get into them.
Ashton Locke: "Maybe. That depends entirely on how well-protected the place is. I haven't really tried to figure that out." He locked his window at the
room he had at the inne! Of course he locked just about everything, and in
fact installed his own locks when he found the existing ones unsatisfactory.
Anyhow. He started moving back towards the door, since whatever the door was protected with would help determine how secure the rest of the place was, as a general rule.
bIoodsworn vow: She'd noticed some of his idiosyncracies, but she couldn't
blame him for making sure his things were locked up tight. Being a thief
meant you knew what other thieves were trying to do. She nodded, and waited to see what they were going to do.
Ashton Locke: Exactly, that's why he locked all of his stuff! He knew all
too well how easy it was to get into someone's belongings and pilfer them. If
someone managed to steal from him he'd be mostly okay with it, but he
certainly wasn't going to make it easy on them. And anything truly important to him, well..that wasn't even going to be possible to steal, really, unless they
wanted to deal with Ashton personally! He kept most of that stuff either on
him, or locked away well enough that even he'd have trouble getting to it! Anyway! He moved to the door and had a good thorough look at it, then moved in closer, but was very careful not to actually touch it!
OnlineHost: Ashton Locke rolled 1 20-sided die: 15
Ashton Locke: (19!)
Ashton Locke: He was glad he'd made sure not to place his hand on the door
at all! He could feel a little magic tingle coming from it. He moved back
then, and shook his head. "I don't feel up to trying to disarm a magical trap
made by a bunch of crazy cultists, it's probably beyond my ability to do so, made with ritual magic or some such nonsense. I do have an idea, though."
bIoodsworn vow: She folded her hands behind her back and stayed out of sight while he worked on the door. When he moved back and shook his head, she tilted her head and chewed on her bottom lip. Glad she'd not tried to just go busting in herself. "Probably." She frowned. "What's your idea?"
Ashton Locke: He couldn't tell exactly what the trap was, but it seemed to
extend all about the building to protect entering it from anywhere! Good
thing she hadn't tried to go into a window. They were just lucky the act of
touching the building didn't set it off, whatever it was. "Send the OCS team that comes after me here and let them deal with it."
bIoodsworn vow: She snickered, and nodded. "That's a good idea, very sneaky too."
Ashton Locke: "And fun! I'll have to convince them they're going after me."
He grinned a little at that, then slipped his arm around her and gave her a
squeeze around the waist, and a kiss on the cheek. "Shall we go home?"
bIoodsworn vow: She grinned, that did sound like fun. She didn't hate her
sister by any means, but she was, for whatever reason, far more loyal to
Ashton than she was to her sister. She grinned at the squeeze and slipped her
arms around his waist, and kissed his cheek back. "Home sounds wonderful, darling."
Ashton Locke: He smiled and planted a small kiss on her lips as he started
heading on back towards the inne! "I'll have to think of a good disguise to
use. Perhaps Old Man Dikshit could make an appearance?"
bIoodsworn vow: Her eyes closed for the moment as she felt his lips upon
hers, then they opened and she snickered softly. "Perhaps so, I think that
would work out quite well. What will you need me to do?" And, back towards the inne she'd walk at his side.
Ashton Locke: "Oh I don't know, exactly. Perhaps keep me alive! You're quite good at that." He grinned and winked to her, thinking. "I can always come up with a part of the plan to involve you, if you want to comtribute. Otherwise you could sort of be on standby. I'd bet it's more likely than not something will come up you can do that I can't."
bIoodsworn vow: "I certainly hope I'm good at keeping you alive. I.. I
really don't know what I'd do if I couldn't." She smirked, though it was
obvious her thoughts were far off for a moment though soon her gaze settled
on the here and now. Standby sounds good. I'll just be watching, and if needed
I'll come into the picture." She reached over, catching one of his hands with
her own, and brought it up to her lips as she brushed a kiss across his
knuckles then released it.
Ashton Locke: "I don't know that we've really come into many lethal
situations, actually, but you certainly kept me alive very well when we
attacked those cultists." He snickered a little, and then stayed mostly quiet
while she had her wandering thought moment! When she agreed to his standby idea, he nodded. "Excellent." He gave her cheek a little caress after she kissed his knuckles. "I'd say you'd be good in a disguise to help out, but I'm afraid Mela will be there again. I bet she'd recognize you more easily than she would me."
bIoodsworn vow: "True, we haven't, but if we did I'd protect you with my
life." She nodded to her words, and then smiled at the caress. "She'd
probably pick me out pretty easy. I'm not so gifted in disguise. But, if I'm
in spider form she may not catch me as easy. I'll just stay out of the way."
Ashton Locke: "And I'd protect you with mine. You'd probably not even notice though, you're far more overt about fighting than I am." He grinned and
winked. "Not that there's anything at all wrong with that! And staying in
spider form may be the ..." He frowned a bit then. "Oh, you said you were hungry, and we didn't find any bad guys!"
bIoodsworn vow: "I'll go out alone I suppose, and find something. I can live
without it tonight." She shrugged, it wasn't something that she had to do
every night.
