Update 2.41
Greetings, OH Members:
Our Week of Adventuring is well under way, and we've a whole week of quests and missions to look forward to! Be sure to keep a check on the page, as things may change, and there is always room for surprises!
Congratulations to Evangeline (oftheheavens), as she has gained the Ribbon of Mastery!
Don't forget, if you have crafting skills it's time for you to ask for your crafting points. Don't forget to tell (ashtonlocke) and let him know how you want your points divided between skills if you have multiples...i.e. "Alchemy 8CP, Artisan 2CP". If you have skills or items that give you more points, you need to claim that on your email. It is also near the end of one month and start of the other, so remember to make your rolls for skills that give you once a month items!
Our amazing week of adventuring is upon us, and our first adventure starts in about an hour. We have a myriad of missions and quests planned, so get your adventuring gear ready, make sure your dossier's are up to date, and get ready to earn some XP, GP, maybe even cool loot!
Check out our schedule, it's got a ton of little blurbs about what the missions and quests will be about so you know if it's something you're interested in, or what character should go. Most also have ratings for the level of quest. Some are still tentative, but should be solid at least the morning of each day. I will keep the schedule as up-to-date as I can.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE
WEEKLY CHALLENGE
Our weekly challenge is simple. VERY SIMPLE!
You are to attend a quest or mission in our Week of Adventuring lineup!
Your challenge this week will earn you: 1 Reputation to any character you choose.
Note: This is 1 reputation for the whole week. If you attend 1 quest or 5 quests this week, you still get 1 rep to put where you want.
QUESTIONS and ANSWERS
Question: What is "Search" and how is it different from "Spot"? Can I use "Alert" skill with it?
Answer: Search and Spot are different in many ways, but both uses Perception (PER). When you are asked to roll a Spot, it means you are looking around where you are, perhaps even walking around, and spotting things out of the ordinary or things that you wish to spy with your little eye like a baddie in the distance. Search on the other hand is far more active. You actually move around, and search things - rifle through papers, open drawers, pick up boxes, dig up interesting areas of dirt, move things. If you have to dig into someone's pocket, pick up a box and open it, open books, or search through or in items... it's Search. The Alert skill says it's for Spot and Listen. If your DM calls for a Spot, by all means use Alert. But if you are asked to Search a baddie's clothing, or search a room for loot, you CANNOT use Alert skill.
RECRUITING CONTEST: FOUR DAYS LEFT
It's that time again, a "Back to School" Recruiting Contest! It is never a bad thing to try to bring in new players. They bring in new ideas, new twists and storylines and new blood to the game! This ends at the end of October.
Indeed, there will be prizes, but as always, this is not for recruiting current player's new characters, this is for bringing in new PLAYERS to the game! And please bear in mind, recruiting players that do all the work of sending in an application only to never show their face again does nothing for our game, so for this contest I will not count a person as recruited for this contest until they attend their first QUEST run by an official DM! You will still get your 10XP per recruit though (not including your own new characters or current player's characters). If there is a tie (such as several people all recruit 1) I will roll dice to see who gets first, second and third place.
First Place - 20XP to Any Character, 10,000gp, 2 Reputation Points
Second Place - 15XP to Any Character, 5,000gp, 1 Reputation Point
Third Place - 10XP to Any Character, 3,000gp, .5 Reputation Point
Leaderboard:
1 Recruit - *Allegro Luna, *Tesarik One, Ascending Aria
*Unconfirmed, the recruits need to attend a quest.
You don't have to sit in a boring stuffy recruit hall to recruit! The best recruiting comes from just roleplaying in public, and having people wander in and ask questions. Open up some of our chats, and if you WANT you can open up a recruit chat!
Here's just a few places you could open in and around Navahla and the OH Inne:
Arts and Entertainment - Obsidian Heart Inne
Arts and Entertainment - OH Pincer Lake
Arts and Entertainment - OH Navahla Market
Arts and Entertainment - OH Amelia Park
Arts and Entertainment - OH Archgate Library
Arts and Entertainment - OH Knifedge Arena
We also have an incentive to new characters starting during this contest.
All new characters start at 35XP, and 3,000gp. This allows a new character to start at Topaz Adept (2d32), giving them 10 trait points, 5 Crystal skills, 3 Topaz skills and a Class & Profession. Starting now, if you transfer in you either get the TRANSFER or the INCENTIVE. Not both.

WORD OF THE WEEK
Don't forget the Word of the Week! It's easy 2XP you can earn once a week just within your normal roleplay! Check the message board. Learn it. Use it. Send it in.
UPDATES, PATCHES, CLARIFICATIONS
1. BARD CHANGES
Bardic bonus change:
Bard : Bonus - "Inspire Allies" Bards are great inspiration to their allies, and when they play or sing their music pushes their allies to greatness, giving all allies within hearing range a +3 to DMG or DEF which adds to any DMG or DEF they already have (chosen at the start). Once they've used a turn to inspire their allies, the bonus lasts the entire combat; they do not have to continue to play each round and are free to make other actions.
Automatic Skills: Choose 1 free bard skill.
[Bards are singers, dancers, storytellers, musicians and entertainers of all sort that can either boost their allies, or adversely affect their enemies.]
Skill Update:
Lasting Inspiration : Only a bard may take this skill, and it enables them to inspire their allies with even greater benefits. Their Inspire Allies bonus of defense or attack goes up to +5.
Prerequisite: Bard (Primary)
Enchantment Update:
Harmonizing 6,000gp | 1,500gp | 6CP
☼ ☼
This enchantment can only be placed on melee weapons. A harmonizing weapon accompanies its wielder in song if drawn, singing for a number of rounds equal to the wielder's Charisma bonus or until sheathed. This causes the bards "Inspire Allies" to double it's normal boost to damage or defense during those rounds. You may not use other bardic enchantments on the same weapon while harmonizing is in effect.
2. CLARIFICATION ON "SEARCH"
We've gone back and forth on this for a year, so I'm going to set down some rules that should be followed here on out. Search is NOT Spot. But, it is Perception based. So, if a DM calls for you to search the area, that is far more than just looking around like Spot. It's actually searching through things. It might be reading through books, opening drawers, or rifling through papers.
You may NOT use "ALERT" skill for Search anymore. Alert is ONLY for Spot & Listen. You will add Perception to your search roll, along with any other skill that states Search, or improves your perception as a whole. But not Alert. I hope that clarifies things for us all, both hear and up in the Q&A section!!
Extra Credit: Answer a question for 2XP. Remember, one per player. Tell me where you want the 2XP when you reply!
Name one of the seven islands that make up the Skegg Islands.
