Update 2.39
Greetings, OH Members:
The Update is late, I know. I was gone all weekend, and after spending 8 hours in the car Sunday - 5 of which were on winding mountain roads -hurl- I needed to recover a bit! But here I am, and here's the update! I want to let you all know that I think I've added all new skills to the listings. If there is one missing that's in a Patch or Update but not on the listings let me know, I'm trying to tidy that all up and make sure everything is listed.
Congratulations to Kit (notrueform), she is now our very own Training Moderator. She will be assigned to new players to run small quests and missions to teach them the ropes of OH. She will also be the person new players (and old if needed) go to during quests run by myself and others, so that the DM is not constantly answering general OH questions. Often, answering these general questions makes our quests run longer, or move slowly so we are hoping this helps things move along.
Don't forget, if you have crafting skills it's time for you to ask for your crafting points. Don't forget to tell (ashtonlocke) and let him know how you want your points divided between skills if you have multiples...i.e. "Alchemy 8CP, Artisan 2CP". If you have skills or items that give you more points, you need to claim that on your email.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE
I'm going to start a weekly challenge, and this week it's going to be extremely simple again! For every badge you earn this week, you will get a bonus. All bonuses will be given this Saturday when I receive the list from temptofblack with the badges earned list. So you have until this Saturday to earn badges.
Your challenge this week will earn you: 2xp per Badge Earned

IMPORTANT Note: Proof for badges should be sent to temptofblack for credit. She sends me the list of badges earned every Saturday, so extra xp will be given when I receive the official list from A.
QUESTIONS and ANSWERS
Question: What is a critical fail?
Answer: A critical fail is when you roll a "1" for your Strike. It is an automatic miss, you do not add anything to that "1". You immediately roll a 1d6 to see what happens for the fail.
1 - You stumble when you attack, your target gets an attack upon you instantly.
2 - You trip and fall, and lose a turn righting yourself again.
3 - You drop your weapon and must take a turn getting it back. (This is the primary weapon. If player does not have a "primary" then the weapon that would most benefit them to keep, is dropped.)
4 - You injure yourself. Roll your dice and take that damage yourself.
5 - You've swung too wide and hit another ally. Roll to determine who you hit, then roll your dice, they take that damage.
6 - You're lucky, nothing happens except you miss your attack.
If the roll does not apply, such as an unarmed fighter dropping a weapon, or in a one on one spar hitting an ally, reroll failure roll.
RECRUITING CONTEST
It's that time again, a "Back to School" Recruiting Contest! It is never a bad thing to try to bring in new players. They bring in new ideas, new twists and storylines and new blood to the game! This ends at the end of October.
Indeed, there will be prizes, but as always, this is not for recruiting current player's new characters, this is for bringing in new PLAYERS to the game! And please bear in mind, recruiting players that do all the work of sending in an application only to never show their face again does nothing for our game, so for this contest I will not count a person as recruited for this contest until they attend their first QUEST run by an official DM! You will still get your 10XP per recruit though (not including your own new characters or current player's characters). If there is a tie (such as several people all recruit 1) I will roll dice to see who gets first, second and third place.

UPDATES, PATCHES, CLARIFICATIONS
1. HEALING OVER TIME
I have updated healing spells so that we are not 'wasting' heal spells that say they can heal 20hp but the target only needs say 15hp healing.
Heals
Save: No, unless unwilling.
Note: Must have Healing Affinity, or Self-Healing.
Crystal: Heal up to 5hp
Topaz: Heal up to 10hp
Amber: Heal up to 15hp
Sapphire: Heal up to 20hp
Emerald: Heal 1/2 Dmg or 25hp
Ruby & Obsidian: Heal Full Dmg
[This can be a one-time heal, or healing over time. All the heal points must be used by the target of your spell, but for instance if you cast a 20hp heal spell and they only need 10hp healing that round, they can be healed of the other 10 in rounds to come. It is the mages job to keep up with this.]
2. UNLEARNING SPELLS
I have thought long and hard over this, and in the spirit of keeping things simple, I have decided that I will allow you to "unlearn" as many spells as you have INT (Intelligence). The Magic Moderator (nobilisarcanus) should keep up with this, and if you unlearn a spell you must inform him for his records. Once you've unlearned your max amount of Intelligence, then you are stuck with whatever spells you write unless you happen to find special loot that allows you to switch spells out.
3. HOW MUCH HEALTH?
There is some discussion on just how much health you are allowed to boost. I have mulled this over and decided that to keep things simple we will use the same rules we have for defense. Right now the most armor/defense a character can have is +30 DEF. You may also have up to 30 points of added health (hit points). This is EVERYTHING - loot, spells, potions, wands, tattoos, etc. 30 is the magic number for defense, and hit points.
Note: The most any one item can hold for health though, is still 10. Health items come as 5 or 10 and that hasn't changed. The most hit points a spell will ever give you is at Obsidian, which is 14.
4. BARD INSTRUMENTS & ENCHANTMENTS
Check out bard instruments, and enchantments that can be bought or crafted!
5. HEALING TATTOOS
At the request of a player, I've added a few different healing type tattoos under Inkantation.
Essence of Life 5,000gp
This rare tattoo is normally in the shape of the Ankh, which represents "life". Having this tattoo allows you to easily transfer your own hit points to an ally, healing them of however many hit points you've transferred. You may do this very easily and quickly, and still make any other action or attack on your turn. You are able to use about 1/4 of your own hit points in this way without repercussions, transferring more than this has long-term consequences. Transferring over 1/4 of your hit points causes you to PERMANENTLY lose 1 hit point. Transferring over 1/2 of your hit points causes you to PERMANENTLY lose 2 hit points. Transferring all your hit points to your ally causing your death causes you to lose a rezz, regardless of using a rezz coin, or improved rezz skill, or anything else that says you will not lose it. You WILL lose that rezz permanently as well as the 2 hit points.
Brand of the Red Healer 3,000gp
Kaiken, otherwise known as the Red Healer, is a minor goddess of healing. There is a tattoo that brings the blessing of Kaiken in the form of a handprint, or fingerprint in rust-red color. This tattoo boosts the healing points of someone with Healing Affinity by 10 points per day.
Rune of Healing 1000gp
This temporary tattoo is in the form of a chosen healing rune (depending on your tradition). It grants the ability to heal up to 10hp per day, either at one time or split up as long as the total healing points expended is not over 10. You may use this 10 times before the tattoo fades away. [TEN USES]
