The Lunar Beacon: (Oh, healing points = 12, sorry)
Tesarik One: There was much to be discovered in the kingdom of Sarkotos, and
once Cherith and Brendan had found the crafter and had some things made, they
were out exploring yet again. They'd heard tales of the Obsidian Heart, but
as of yet had
Tesarik One: not decided to join the group. Indeed, poor Brendan was having
to go here and there with an excited Cherith as she had never been in
Sarkotos before - or outside of Doxenia for that matter! So it did not come
as a surprise really,
Tesarik One: that upon a lonely stretch of road in Sarkotos, Cherith and
Brendan had made camp for the evening. It was twilight, and they had a nice
fire going. Cherith had her glaive in hand, practicing different moves and
getting the feel of
Tesarik One: the weight of her new weapon while wearing her armor. Brendan,
was probably watching her and giving her pointers, right? Kyle, well, perhaps
he'd just gone out for a stroll or was traveling for one reason or another
and saw their
Tesarik One: little camp ahead. (Begin RP)
a merciful edge: Kyle had indeed gone out for a stroll somewhere or another.
He did have that wandering nature, after all. He was walking along and
spotted a fire, head tilting. Being a nice fellow, he figured he'd go
investigate! Perhaps they
a merciful edge: were lost and needed directions. Or perhaps they were
vagabonds and needed to be forcibly taught the error of their ways! Or
perhaps they were just travellers. Whatever the case, it warranted
investigating. so he made his way on up
a merciful edge: to the camp, swords visible, but hands kept away from them.
Hood was up to hide a good bit of his face, but a scarred sword-wearing man
approaching didn't generally set people at ease, so the somewhat hidden face
might be for the
a merciful edge: best. "Hello there!" Called out when he got close enough to
do so without yelling.
The Lunar Beacon: He'd taken to matching her excitement with all the stoic
pride one could muster into one frame. In truth? He was happy to just be
traveling with her, teaching her in the ways that were expected to be taught
to one in search of
The Lunar Beacon: knighthood. He walked a circle around her as she
practiced, occasionally offering a pointer on how to stand, whether to swing
or to slash. Occasionally he would throw a stone out into her field of
vision. It never came near her,
The Lunar Beacon: just added a distraction for her to watch out for. "Ware
the archers!" He'd cry out every time he did so. He halted in his circling
of her as Kyle approached, lifting a hand in general greeting, almost a wave
of sorts. "Hello
The Lunar Beacon: there, then! The road's treated you fair, traveler?"
Tesarik One: The armor was new, but it had been crafted so well that it
moved with ease with her body. It was definitely made for a woman's body,
which she appreciated after having to wear cast-offs from men for some time.
And, it actually
Tesarik One: covered her, unlike SOME armor she'd seen on certain women who
wore it more for a fashion look than coverage! It had a little skirt to it,
but leg pieces that left only a little bit of thigh visible between the
bottom of the skirt
Tesarik One: and the start of her leg pieces. Every time the stone was
thrown, she moved with her glaive, as if she were going to use the blade at
the end to stop any archer's arrows. She gave a thrust forward, then spun
around as she heard the
Tesarik One: call from the man. She lowered her weapon and stared at him,
while Brendan spoke.
a merciful edge: "It generally does." He made sure not to approach too
close, both to put them at ease, and to stay out of range of that glaive, or
at least give himself a chance to draw one of his swords if either of them
decided to rush at him. He
a merciful edge: offered a smile to the both of them. "Saw your camp as I
was walking about, thought I might see if you needed assistance of any kind.
It seems you can handle yourself in a fight, at least." Always best to be
complimentary, wasn't
a merciful edge: it?
The Lunar Beacon: A slight nod of his head was given to the man's
observation, but he quickly removed himself and Cherith of the defensive,
motioning towards the fire. "Well, no point in keeping you at arm's length.
Come, sit by the fire. Our fare
The Lunar Beacon: is nothing to write home to family about. It does have
the added bonus of being fresh, hot and plentiful." He laid a hand to rest
gently on Cherith's left shoulder, patting her reassuringly. "I won't be so
quick to turn down
The Lunar Beacon: assistance, though I would like to know more of yourself.
I suppose starting with some of myself, hmm? Ser Brendan Pearce, at your
service."
Tesarik One: She clutched her glaive tightly as she listened, though a smile
was upon her face. When he was invited to the fire, she spun the weapon
around and thudded the end of the pole beside her in the ground and tugged
off her helmet. Her
Tesarik One: face had not been hidden, but when the helm came off a tumble
of dark chestnut waves fell down around her face. She sat near the fire, and
checked on the food that was being prepared. They'd hunted and found rabbit,
so she'd
Tesarik One: skewered bits of the meat and set it across the fire so that it
could slowly cook. She'd sprinkled some spices on it, so it did smell good.
She drank a good bit of water from her skin, then offered it over to the man
who'd joined
Tesarik One: them. "I'm Cherith Mourne." For now, she'd leave the title off
the end, claiming her as a noble of Avilon. Some did not like nobles after
all.
a merciful edge: "Pleased to meet you, Ser Brendan, lady Mourne." Not
capitalized lady! Though if he looked hard enough he generally knew a noble
when he saw one, he simply wasn't looking for it, he was simply being polite.
He spoke as he moved over
a merciful edge: towards the fire, pushing his hood back, and scratching
idly at the scars on his left cheek. "My name is Kyle, I'm a swordmaster." He
unbuckled the baldric holding his longsword on his back and set it aside,
then tugged off the
a merciful edge: shortsword as well and set it down, before having himself a
seat. "And I suppose it's perfectly fine if the fare is nothing to write home
to family about, as I've got no family at home any longer." He smiled
faintly. "It certainly
a merciful edge: smells good enough, however." He took the waterskin and
nodded to Cherith, then had a small drink before handing it back. "Thank you
very much. What brings you two to the area, if I might ask?"
The Lunar Beacon: The casual attitude of Kyle set Brendan's guard at ease
slightly, though he would still be wary til he found out more about the man.
For the time being, he came in peace and shared water. Some things had
meaning. "A master of the
The Lunar Beacon: blade, you say? Honored to meet you, Kyle. If we may
dispense with the formalities, as well as the mouthful of titles, I'll ask
you to simply call me Brendan. Much easier fire talk that way." A slight
grin spread over his lips
The Lunar Beacon: as he took a drink for himself, considering the best way
to answer the man's question. "Training and exploration. A fair bit of
both. Cherith is seeking to become a Knight, and I have claimed the honor of
guiding her along that
The Lunar Beacon: path."
Tesarik One: "Pleasure to meet you as well, Kyle the Swordmaster." That was
intriguing to her, she'd thought long and hard about taking up the sword but
something about the polearm had called to her. She still didn't know why that
was the weapon
Tesarik One: she adored, but she still had great respect to any person that
could use a sword or any weapon really. She took the waterskin back and drank
a bit more, then flipped the skewers with the meat on them so the other side
would start to
Tesarik One: cook. She nodded to Brendan's words. It was obvious she was a
young thing, a teenager still. She had a long ways to go in her training. Her
whole face seemed to glow for a moment when he said she wished to be a knight
- but it could
Tesarik One: have been the flames of the fire.

then looked back to Cherith when she was spoken of, nodding and looking back
to Brendan. "A noble goal, to be sure. I've trained a few people in the

Tesarik One: Kyle is the only one that hears the distant thunder of hoof
beats upon the road.
a merciful edge: He cut himself off when he heard that, though only briefly
before he continued. Though he did stand up and stretch out a little, picking
up his longsword, but leaving it in the sheath for now. "..extensively. It's
certainly not an
a merciful edge: easy task." He glanced in the direction he could hear the
hoof beats coming from. "We may have some company soon."
The Lunar Beacon: Though encased in heavy armor, a suit of full plate no
less, he seemed unhindered by being encased therein. He'd been relaxed at
the campfire, though when Kyle spoke of hearing folk approaching he was on
his feet, shield slung over
The Lunar Beacon: his left shoulder and snapping it into position, his arm
sliding neatly home into position. He considered himself a shield master,
silly as it might sound. He took a few steps forward, towards the road,
ready to intercept whatever
The Lunar Beacon: might be coming their way. "Cherith, stay near me if
trouble arises."
Tesarik One: She was busy sneaking a piece of meat off one of the skewers
when Kyle said they may have company. She quickly popped it in her mouth,
then tucked her helmet on her head again, making sure her hair was as out of
the way as possible.
Tesarik One: Grabbing her glaive, she moved behind and to the left of
Brendan. She was bouncing a little on her heels, partly of fear and part of
anticipation. They had yet to really have to do much combat besides their own
sparring and
Tesarik One: jousting. She offered in a soft voice, "Perhaps they will just
pass us by and are on their way to a nearby town."
a merciful edge: "Perhaps, though there's little reason to not be on guard,
at least." He was on guard when approaching them! Since they had a moment, he
picked up his shortsword and affixed it horizontally across his back once
again, and the
a merciful edge: longsword when back on diagonally, both hilts to his left
side, and he moved closer to the road along with Brendan.
Tesarik One: They came into view down the road. Three horses, coursers by
the look of them when they got close enough. Upon their backs were three men,
each wielding a weapon, and a Rider's Shield. Their armor looked to be pieced
together from
Tesarik One: various types, but they all had a chain shirt on over their
patchwork armors. They spotted Kyle, Cherith and Brendan and the one ahead of
them pointed towards them. The two moved forward, thundering down the road
towards
Tesarik One: the group of them, leaving the leader in their dust for now.
They showed no signs of stopping or slowing, and #1 headed right for Brendan
and brought his broadsword in a sideways slice across Brendan as he rode by
him.

a merciful edge: Well, being pointed at and then advanced upon certainly
made it look as if they weren't going to be ignored. As usual, however, he
kept his hands away from those hilts. Well, until they made it clear they
weren't slowing down, at
a merciful edge: any rate. (Counter?)
Tesarik One: Go for it.
a merciful edge: After a bit of thought, he figured he'd be a bigger target
with a nicely glowing sword, so as the rider came at him, he rested his hand
on the hilt of his short sword, pulling it from its sheath to let that
glowing blade light up at
a merciful edge: the last second, blocking the attack, then lashing out
quickly at the man's weapon hand in retaliation.

anything, and so she readied her glaive to attempt to fight but they seemed
to want to stay on their horses. But, he'd told her to stay near him, so for
now she just
Tesarik One: stayed in place, waiting.
Tesarik One: Highwayman 3-
Tesarik One: The leader finally rode up on a beautiful white stallion with
black mane and tail. He too had a sawtooth saber, but one hand was also
covered in a spiked gauntlet. He trotted around the camp, being all
intimidating, as he yelled out
Tesarik One: in Sark to the other two men who began to move in a circle
around the three of them as well. He began to speak common, "Three of us, and
only two of you and a girl playing dress up. That ain't great odds for your
little
Tesarik One: group now is it? So, we'll give ya one chance and one chance
only. Give us your weapons, armor, and any other pretty trinkets you own in a
little pile right in the middle, and we'll let you three live. Hell we'll
even tell our other
Tesarik One: friends to let you pass safely. Choose wisely, because if you
make the wrong choice we'll peel it off your dead bodies, and we'll keep the
girly alive." He grinned.
Tesarik One: Kyle-
a merciful edge: (Polylingual! He'd understand the Sark yelling.) He grinned
at the leader when she spoke, then gave the man a brief salute with his
shortsword, before sheathing it, that light gowing away. "They're not great
odds, no, but I think
a merciful edge: you've got it backwards. If you leave them out of it, I'd
be happy to take the three of you on myself. Those two have already proven
themselves rather incompetent, after all. Especially that one." Said with a
point of his longsword
a merciful edge: to the one he'd wounded, number 2! (Incite to anger on 2)
a merciful edge: He drew the longsword to point with, of course.
Tesarik One: "Why you...." Said #2 as he rode in closer to Kyle.
The Lunar Beacon: He looked to the leader as he spoke, turning to face him
and he just grinned. His holy symbol emblazoned on his chest, the logo of
Leaxo. "To get to her, you have to go through me. Come try. I assure you,
it will not be the
Tesarik One: (Brendan and Cherith, you may may a roleplay post in reply to
the leader's demands)
The Lunar Beacon: wisest course of action."
Tesarik One: "That's rude!" She yelled out, when the man said she was just
playing dress up. Then when he said they'd leave her alive, she moved behind
Brendan a little more, that didn't sound like fun at all! Her head turned to
look at what
Tesarik One: Kyle was doing, then back to follow the movements of the first
one and the leader.
Tesarik One: Hwyman 1-
a merciful edge: And he got himself ready for what the man was undoubtedly
going to do next! He just had a way with people sometimes. (Defense Maneuver
this round, DefDC 25) And if he had heard his new friends' accents properly,
well..hopefully
a merciful edge: they'd understand his Doxenian. "Try not to let them circle
us, that's what he yelled at them to do."
Tesarik One: "Look at that pretty mouth." He said, while pulling his horse
around, then without warning his horse lunged forward towards Brendan,
striking out at him again, this time riding right by him in case he had some
fine idea of
Tesarik One: countering the attack. He attempted the hit then began to
circle them again. (Ride By Attack - Unable to be countered)

Assuming she accepts." Said before he glanced to Cherith.
The Lunar Beacon: He'd observed Kyle while he could, and the man was true to
his word. He'd taken no wounds, and he spent a good portion of his time
evading and skirting their strikes. Quite the ally to have found. He buried
his blade point-first
The Lunar Beacon: into the dirt, watching the bandit as Kyle dealt with him.
Tesarik One: She nodded, then removed her helm so she could wipe at her face

with a point of his blade towards the hand-impaled guy. "Bandage it, see that
it'll heal as well as it can, if you would. I'll see to their dreadfully
incompetent leader."
a merciful edge: The man had fallen on his own sword, after all. He gave the
man a good clubbing to the head with his hilt to knock him out so he wouldn't
put up any more fight, then knelt down and set to bandaging that leg, since
it was the worst
a merciful edge: of his wounds.
Tesarik One: She looked between them, then went to the man she'd killed. She
kinda felt bad about killing the man when their new friend Kyle had kept the
others alive...but the man was going to do mean things to her, and probably
Tesarik One: kill her later, and certainly try to kill Kyle and Brendan, so
she didn't feel too bad. She knelt down and began to search the guy. His
boots looked interesting, so she tugged them off, as well as anything else of
value.
Tesarik One: She'd loot the other men too, what could they do about it?!
They probably had good stuff too. Gold, gems, loots.
The Lunar Beacon: He looked up at Kyle's request, gaining quite a good deal
of insight on the man. He dug into his pack, heading over to the injured
fellow and cleaned out the wound before bandaging it and studying the fellow
a moment. He relieved
a merciful edge: He tied off the bandage on the leader's leg, then rolled
him over and patched up the other wounds he'd taken. At least they'd brought
horses. "Well, that's that. Let's get all their gear off, they won't be
needing it. Armor,
Tesarik One: "Brendan, are you wounded?" She had not seen Kyle take any
damage but Brendan had, despite the healing she wanted to make sure he was
alright.

anything he thought might be interesting, but he'd let them take the lion's
share of gold and valuables.
Tesarik One: She listened to Kyle and continued to strip the men of their
belongings... much as they'd have done to them.
The Lunar Beacon: question, waving it off non-chalante-like. "Just a
scratch or two, nothing to fret over."
Tesarik One: It was the first person she'd ever killed, and she was a little
weirded out by it all, though she was trying not to show it and merely doing
the looting now in silence after nodding to Brendan. She kept looking back
over to the man
Tesarik One: though, empty expression in her eyes.

- but it could

hoof beats coming from.

Tesarik One: She was busy sneaking a piece of meat off one of the skewers
when Kyle said they may have company. She quickly popped it in her mouth,
then tucked her helmet on her head again, making sure her hair was as out of

Tesarik One: Grabbing her glaive, she moved behind and to the left of
Brendan. She was bouncing a little on her heels, partly of fear and part of
anticipation. They had yet to really have to do much combat besides their own
sparring and
Tesarik One: jousting. She offered in a soft voice, "Perhaps they will just
pass us by and are on their way to a nearby town."

each wielding a weapon, and a Rider's Shield. Their armor looked to be pieced
together from
Tesarik One: various types, but they all had a chain shirt on over their
patchwork armors. They spotted Kyle, Cherith and Brendan and the one ahead of
them pointed towards them. The two moved forward, thundering down the road

They showed no signs of stopping or slowing, and #1 headed right for Brendan

Tesarik One: Cherith-
Tesarik One: Cherith was about to laugh herself into being unable to attack
herself, but she took a deep breath, and as she didn't want to risk hurting
Brendan she spun around and moved over towards the man who'd fallen on his
own sword. "A
Tesarik One: bunch of comedians.... and I was the one playing dress up?" She
shoved her glaive forward in an upwards strike across the front of his body.

He clanged the flat of his blade against the man's armor. "Apologize to her."
a merciful edge: Foot came to step on the man's leg wound to put pressure on
it. Both to slow the bleeding and to hurt him.
Tesarik One: The man growled, then whimpered as he hurt him more. He glanced
over towards Cherith and grumbled out, "Sorry."
a merciful edge: "I'd prefer you mean it, but that'll have to suffice.
Tesarik One: She nodded, then removed her helm so she could wipe at her face
where it was still bloody. She narrowed her eyes at the man, a snarling look
upon her face, then went to rinse some of her waterskin water on her face.
a merciful edge: "Brendan, do me a favor and see to that man's hand?" Said
with a point of his blade towards the hand-impaled guy.
Let's get all their gear off, they won't be
needing it. Armor,
Tesarik One: "Brendan, are you wounded?" She had not seen Kyle take any
damage but Brendan had, despite the healing she wanted to make sure he was
alright.
The Lunar Beacon: him of his weapons, his armor and anything else the fellow
would seek to use to gain an advantage while still leaving him with his life.
The fellow Cherith cut down was beyond hope, and he stood up straight as he
heard that
a merciful edge: weapons, valuables, help yourselves." He was looking for
anything he thought might be interesting, but he'd let them take the lion's
share of gold and valuables.
She kept looking back
over to the man
Tesarik One: though, empty expression in her eyes.
a merciful edge: He then tied the leader's hands up behind his back after he
was stripped down to whatever he wore under his armor, then hefted him up and
laid him across one of the horses, giving it a pat to the nose and some
calming words.

supplies and space aplenty. You're welcome in our camp as long as you deem
necessary. Would have been
a merciful edge: He did the same with the other man that was still alive.
The dead one, he frowned at, but also put on the horse, though he didn't tie
him up first since that wouldn't be necessary. "Assuming you two have no
objections, I intend to
a merciful edge: take these to the nearest authorities and report what they
were up to, and what happened.
a merciful edge: "
The Lunar Beacon: a much more grueling fight without your skill to aide us.
I can't begin to thank you enough." He moved to Cherith then, setting his
arm around her shoulders and speaking softly to her a moment, looking back to
Kyle then. "Indeed,
The Lunar Beacon: though do keep in mind that the offer stands."
a merciful edge: "Please, think nothing of it. It was a good bit of
exercise, and I've been lacking that lately. Perhaps if I drop them off and
make it back here, and you two are still around, we can have another go at
dinner." He grinned a little
Tesarik One: "That sounds good. Thank you," Cherith spoke quietly, and
leaned in to listen to what was being said to her.
a merciful edge: to them. Then looked to Cherith. She seemed a bit
despondent over the dead fellow. "I'm sure you didn't make that attack with
the intent to kill him. Sometimes those things are unavoidable. I've found
the best I can do is try my
a merciful edge: best to not kill the next one."
Tesarik One: She glanced over to Brendan at his words, and gave a firm nod.
That did make her feel a touch better, and she looked back over to Kyle and
nodded as well. Though, she was going to be a knight, so sometimes things
would have to be
Tesarik One: killed, she would just have to learn how to deal with it.
Tesarik One: Log Off
The Lunar Beacon: "Sometimes, death is an unavoidable fate. It is indeed
sad to see one lose their life over such, yet this is an outcome they brought
to their own door."
