Tesarik One: Information has been gleaned from one source or another that in
old tunnels between Alzorc and Kullyr rests hidden valuables and wealth along
the miles of passages. It seems that a certain well near the mountains that
divide Alzorc
Tesarik One: and Kullyr was the entrance to an old slave escape route, that
the Rumerian slaves of the Zorcans would take to get free of Zorcan rule. It
hasn't been used recently, and could be pretty dangerous, but Maria has asked
for just a
Tesarik One: handful of brave adventurers to check the place out. See if it
actually holds treasure, what sort of place it is, and if it's worth sending
a large group to cover more area. She has arranged transport with the Port
Union to the
Tesarik One: village where the old well sits outside the village proper,
dried up years ago, and covered with a sheet of wood with stones upon it.
Feel free to begin your rp heading for the well. (Begin RP)
Tesarik One: (BRB)
Noble Artificer: ::And of course he would be heading out with the small
group making his way in the direction of the port union. As soon as he was
there though he was touching his chest to inact the infusion on himself
now.:::
Noble Artificer: [Spell: Cat's Grace - Target: Self - Spell Type: +1 Stat

The Lunar Beacon: He was always up for a good challenge, a place to test his
skills and to help Cherith in her training. This would indeed be something
to write home about should they uncover anything of note. He was glad to see
Kyle had joined
a merciful edge: Well, yep. Time to go to some well, apparently! He was just
happy he'd be on land, that plane of air just hadn't sat well with him.
Still, that didn't mean he couldn't go out and do some more work! So he got
himself all ready to go,
a merciful edge: headed to the port union, and then through the portal it
was after everyone was ready!
The Lunar Beacon: them on this adventure. The man was a solid ally to have
on hand. He gave a warm grin to the man, as well as the fellow he didn't
recognize. A slight bow of his head given by way of initiating conversation.
"Greetings to you.
The Lunar Beacon: Ser Brendan Pearce, at your service." He gestured to
Cherith, extending the introductions to her as well. "The Lady Cherith
Mourne d'Avilon. Good to meet you." And through the portal he went,
unhindered at all in his movements
The Lunar Beacon: despite being encased in full plate mail.
Noble Artificer: ::An adjustment of the goggles perched on his forehead
before giving a nod in return,::I am Aiden d'Cannith, pleasure to meet you
both. ::He himself was in the Cannith overcoat and had his bow with a quiver
full of arrows. Turning
Tesarik One: Spell noted.
Noble Artificer: back he went on through the portal whistleing quietly to
himself a cheery little tune. Ahh being in a well and underground tunnels did
remind him of playing around in Storm Reach,..if there was kobolds and some
trogladytes it would
Noble Artificer: just set him even further back in memories.::
Tesarik One: She was there, they didn't seem to need their mounts this time.
She was far more comfortable on her horse fighting than off, if one had to
truly ask which she preferred so this would be a challenge. She smiled warmly
to
Tesarik One: Kyle, and then bowed her head a bit to the man she was
introduced to. "Cherith." Down a well seemed like dirty work for her, so
she'd made sure she didn't have a ton of bulk on her. Her glaive was strapped
to her back, and just the
Tesarik One: necessities were with her. She headed through the portal, and
onwards towards where they'd been told the well was located. She began
pulling the large rocks off, so they could open it.
a merciful edge: Smiles were given back to those that smiled to him! He sent
one to Aiden as well. He vaguely recognized him from that air place. And he'd
start trying to help with the rocks, though he really wasn't the strongest
person in the
a merciful edge: group!
Tesarik One: Jagged high mountains rise above this little town in Alzorc. It
is the last supply outpost that can be found for many miles before a
dangerous trek across the mountains will lead travelers to the next
Tesarik One: kingdom, Kullyr. Escaped slaves are often ran to ground here,
desperate to flee into the free kingdoms they find this outpost to be their
only chance at freedom. Some of the populace, sympathetic to
Tesarik One: the escaped slaves, had opened their long abandoned mines that
stretch from beneath the town and end on the opposite side of the mountain
range. The dried up town well acts as the hidden entrance to
Tesarik One: this escape route.
Noble Artificer: ::The bow leaned against an area it would be safe and was
working to remove the rocks as well dropping them to the side.::
Tesarik One: The wood covering the well is old and brittle, easily broken or
just plain pushed away once the stones are off. The stone making up the walls
of the well are large and uneven, making easy handholds to the dry bottom.
The Lunar Beacon: Strength. He wasn't the strongest knight, but he knew
about leverage. He wedged his shield between some of the rocks, helping to
remove them and pry the boards loose to open their egresse.
Noble Artificer: Does everyone have a way of seeing within the darkness?
::He was tugging the goggles down over his eyes, the orange tinted lenses
gleamed a moment before he was grasping the bow and shouldering it.::
a merciful edge: "I only have a way to make it not so dark." Said with a pat
to the hilt of his shortsword. "Which will help me see just fine, though it
might hurt darkvision." He shrugged. He wasn't sure if it would or not!
Tesarik One: She tugged with her gloved hands, pushing rocks off and
removing the wood until she could peer down within. It was dark, she knew it
would be. She had brought a lantern, which she quickly lit and hooked to her
side on her belt so
Tesarik One: she could use both hands to crawl down the well. While they
were deciding on light, she climbed right over the lip of the well and began
climbing downwards.
The Lunar Beacon: "I've a lantern, some torches if necessary." He spoke up,
opting to be the first one down. It would hurt a lot less for everyone else
if the heaviest one of the group didn't fall on the rest of them on the way
down. He lit up
The Lunar Beacon: his lantern and started to scramble on down, the lantern
secured to his weapon's belt.
Tesarik One: The well was large enough that 2 comfortably, or three snugly
could fit into it. (Roll a Spot once you're down - Cherith & Brendan)
OnlineHost: Tesarik One rolled 1 20-sided die: 5
Tesarik One: +5 Alert = 10
a merciful edge: Well....sure, they could go first, why not. He scowled at
that, then climbed on down as well. Hopefully they didn't get attacked if
he'd have to squish his way through the two armored people!
OnlineHost: The Lunar Beacon rolled 1 20-sided die: 14
Noble Artificer: ::He was going up and over the lip working his way down the
handholds now and dropped when he was low enough after the last one landing
in a crouch when the way was slightly clear for him to do so.::
Tesarik One: Kyle you can make a spot as well. Aiden, you can't get down to
the very bottom until something happens.
The Lunar Beacon: (14)
Noble Artificer: :::Hanging from a rock then!::
OnlineHost: a merciful edge rolled 1 20-sided die: 18
a merciful edge: (19)
Tesarik One: 12+ you notice that a section of the well wall is fake. Even a
light push causes the rocks to fall down. No doubt, replaced once the last
person crawled through usually.
The Lunar Beacon: "Do you see what I see?" He spoke up, motioning towards
the somewhat crumbly-looking section of the wall. He gave a poke near the
top, not wanting to cause anything disastrous.
Tesarik One: Cherith must have been on the wrong side, she didn't find
anything but stonework!
Tesarik One: Stone fell at the poke. It was big enough for one person to
crawl through at a time once it was all removed, beyond is dark, musty and
slightly damp.
a merciful edge: He pulled the shortsword out of its sheath just enough to
cast a bit of light around, and moved closer to the section of wall, nodding.
"Mhm. Suppose that'd be where we're going."
Noble Artificer: ::A shift of his placement had him looking down to where
the others were while gripping the rock with his right hand.::Well then shall
we be heading in there?
The Lunar Beacon: He nodded softly as he heard he wasn't the only one aware
of it and started clearing sections away til there was room to move through.
Shield at the ready, he took up point, keeping it in place should any nasty
traps try sneaking
The Lunar Beacon: out at his face as he crawled through.
Tesarik One: She couldn't move till they headed into it. She held back,
pressed to the well wall, waiting for Brendan and Kyle to climb through. Once
they were through, she took to her hands and knees and began to crawl as
well.
Noble Artificer: :::Well when they went through he was dropping on down
landing in that crouch, shifting a bit he was ducking down and crawled on
through as well:: *D
Tesarik One: Just waiting on Kyle to get into it!
a merciful edge: Oh yep. He was going in!
Tesarik One: About 12 feet in, the tunnel opens up enough that everyone can
stand up and move with ease. The tunnel stretches south into darkness. The
walls are shored up with timber and clay. Every 20 feet or so,
Tesarik One: unlit torches lie in brackets attached to support beams.
Tesarik One: (Open rp for a few, I'll brb)
a merciful edge: Oh good, he was happy to be able to stretch out once they
got through that tunnel. He took a moment to do just that. (brb myself)
The Lunar Beacon: He tested the first few torches they came across, seeing
how functional they'd be. Settling his shield more securely onto his left
arm, he continued in the lead, admiring the work that had been done here.
"Amazing what freedom
The Lunar Beacon: will inspire people to achieve, is it not? Makes me
wonder if there are any veins that would be of use once we learn more about
the place."
Noble Artificer: ::He moved forward remaining quiet for the moment just
keeping alert. The bow was now in hand, an arrow slid to the notching ledge
while looking over then back forward.::
The Lunar Beacon: His right hand clenched and unclenched, the spikes on his
gauntlet visible, revealing that he was never really caught off-guard. He
gave his shield a few experimental swings as well, still not quite confident
in its use as a
The Lunar Beacon: weapon, but he was getting there. "How long have you been
with the Heart, Aiden?"
Tesarik One: She nodded and moved ahead, reaching for her lantern now that
she could walk on her feet. She caught sight of the torches, and looked
closer at the wet walls. Definitely did seem they'd gotten into the mine
tunnels. "I'm thinking,
Tesarik One: that if I were a slave, I'd try to haul as much as I could for
as long as I could. I wouldn't climb down the well just to start removing my
belongings. It would be when I was tired, or others needed my assistance, or
something
Tesarik One: adverse happened that would make me start stashing my precious
belongings. What do you say? I think we need to move further along."
Noble Artificer: Not long, few weeks at the most. Figured I should start
assisting in these little outtings and continuing my trade since I am here
anyhow and learn about the area more. And yes moving further along would be a
good course of action.
Noble Artificer: ::He glanced around then back forward tilting his head a
bit.::
Tesarik One: The travails of the slave tunnels were not all happy endings.
Many, many slaves died for various reasons in these tunnels over the years.
Some simply could not make the trek, others died from sickness, or the
monsters they faced
The Lunar Beacon: He was walking and talking, making sure to keep an easy
enough pace. No clue in telling how far they'd actually be traveling, so no
use in getting worn out. "Sounds reasonable, m'Lady. Be on your guard,
though. No telling what
Tesarik One: below ground. One of the dangerous of such a dark and shadowy
place were creatures from the Shadows, who create more of their own by
killing the living. It was these particular creatures that lingered in the
shadows where the
The Lunar Beacon: sort of critter might abound. Could range from Kobold to
Wurm . . . or worse."
a merciful edge: He didn't know much about escaping with belongings! All he
had when he'd escaped his home was clothing and the longsword he still had.
Of course he never really travelled any way but light. He eyed the torches,
considering lighting
Tesarik One: torches did not lighten. (Spot)

Tesarik One: Aiden, and Cherith saw it first... as if the shadows were
alive, moving of their own accord ahead of them in the tunnel where only
enough light to form shadows had reached.
Tesarik One: She pointed ahead of them, "Something is odd ahead. The shadows
move of their own will, when we are not moving."
Tesarik One: Aiden, Cherith, since you spotted them you both get an attack
if you wish before the round starts.
Tesarik One: Aiden-

was talking about! Still, he might stick with the shortsword for now, it
might come in more handy than the other. He had yet to draw it fully though,

least nothing she could think of. She decided she'd light the torch nearest
though, if it was shadows perhaps by making it more light it would help keep
them at bay. She
Tesarik One: opened her lantern and pulled the torch out, lighting it and
sticking it back in it's brace.
Tesarik One: In the flickering light, they could see three shapes hanging
beyond the area of full light. A contorted shadow called Pain, a shadow that
seemed to have an open mouth, screaming, called Torment, and a shadow so
twisted with
Tesarik One: massive fists, he looked larger than the other two, called
Anger.

lantern to her belt again, and grabbed the torch she'd just lit. Shadows,
surely she was intelligent enough to figure out that light would keep the
shadows away. When
Tesarik One: she saw Torment heading for Brendan, and Brendan's weapon doing

She grinned and

carvings in the wood, shifting his shield slightly to study the carvings more
closely. "Looks like we have some crude road marker, here." He gestured to

rectangle with the sun behind it. The second looks like a winding path with
two mountain
Tesarik One: peaks behind it. With a little more digging, both lead to
passages hidden beneath the rubble. Which one will you take?
Tesarik One: She traced the glyph, trying to just use common sense, as she
stared at one, then the other. "Well.... I'm not sure what it means, but they
both seem to represent some sort of path. One to sunlight, one to mountains?"
Noble Artificer: ::He tilted his head glancing between the two glyphs, hand
raised rubbing his jawline.::
a merciful edge: Hm. That didn't make a lick fo sense to him, really. But
then again he wasn't familiar with all the ins and outs of this place,
either! They could represent things he just plain wasn't aware of!
The Lunar Beacon: He squinted, as if that would make it easier to tell what
it could possibly be. He saw his tutors do that whenever they were poring
over ancient texts. Still, he looked between the two choices, thinking
quietly a moment. "Well,
Noble Artificer: Well what I can figure is that this one leads to the
surface while that one remains running underground adn beneath mountains.
Tesarik One: "Maybe.... sunshine means... out of the tunnels. Maybe the
mountains mean you go further into the mountain. I just don't know which is
where we should go. We should just pick one, and go. If Maria sends another
group, maybe they can
Tesarik One: try the other path."
The Lunar Beacon: we can head towards the sunlight option, if it takes us
out of the tunnels we have it as a fallback point."
Tesarik One: She nodded to Aiden, they agreed on the meanings, whether it
was right or not they would not know!
Tesarik One: "Sunshine then?" She began pulling wood away, it did not take
long before a passageway could be seen beneath the fallen rubble. She
wriggled herself in between the wood and stone towards the passage.
a merciful edge: That seemed to make sense to him, since it was all
non-specific. He nodded as well, then started to pull the wood away as well!
And then through the passage it was, as soon as he could fit. He wasn't a
huge guy, should be easy enoug

his head a bit more.:: Doesnt that seem just a tad bit,....to easy to figure
out?
Noble Artificer: Like anyone looking would go,..they go the route of
sunshine that is the safe path?
The Lunar Beacon: He nodded and followed her through. Definitely her
father's daughter in wanting to know the unknown. He grinned and kept alert,
ready to move to intercept any sudden danger.
a merciful edge: "They may have been intended that way, for people who were
escaping. Wouldn't want to make it too tricky to figure out, right? That is a
good thought, however."
Tesarik One: This downward sloping passage is a bit slippery from water
dripping off the ceiling and walls. About 30 feet in, the tunnel is lit by
clusters of glowing yellow fungi. They reach a rather large cavern
Tesarik One: area, with bits of bedrolls, old fire pits, dusty empty
waterskins and the like.
The Lunar Beacon: "I imagine they came through these tunnels with a guide,
or at the very least instructions on how to navigate. It's the main reason

Tesarik One: Well, they did manage to find some hidey holed stuff, but
they'd been gone a good while. They also had an idea of what they'd face...
well to a point... and hopefully someone could remember those city markers to
draw them for Maria
Tesarik One: so we could figure out what they pointed to next time we came!
Regardless, once they'd searched the cavern, they could keep moving, as the
tunnel did continue. Not long in the other part of the tunnel they'd feel
chilled air,
Tesarik One: and eventually, the light of the moons high above. But there
was a problem... apparently Kullyr wasn't so keen on taking in slaves,
because someone had built an iron gate covering the exit at the base of the
mountains on the Kullyr
Tesarik One: side! It was old though, locked from the outside. DC22 STR to
break.
The Lunar Beacon: He had found a gem of a weapon. He'd have to do some
practicing with it. Something in the blade spoke to him and he examined the
door as he studied the blade. He knew he wouldn't be able to force it open,
but then, the blade
The Lunar Beacon: seemed to shift, a shortsword forming of a darker
metal(adamantine).
Tesarik One: Go for it!
Tesarik One: She found some interesting things..gold, gems, a shield of some
sort, and a coat with black fur. She was hauling the loot along with her when
they found the iron gate. Seeing his weapon change, she blinked a little.
Tesarik One: "Well that is useful."
The Lunar Beacon: And so he swung the blade, seeing if he'd be fortunate in
his aim, aiming towards where the latch of the door was.
OnlineHost: The Lunar Beacon rolled 1 20-sided die: 9

another easier way to do this.
Noble Artificer: Please step aside.

a merciful edge: Well he'd sure try and help break the lock. ALthough
apparently Aiden had a better idea.

The Lunar Beacon: He did indeed step out of the way, studying the blade
quietly as he leaned against the wall. He looked over to Cherith, the blade
shifting back to a dagger but keeping the adamantine quality. "Quite the
find, indeed. It will need
The Lunar Beacon: a name, to be sure."
Tesarik One: There was a click, and it unlocked.
Tesarik One: The gate was easily opened now, rusty and old as it was.
Noble Artificer: ::Hearing the click he would press on the gate swinging it
open and stepped on through holding it open for the others.::
The Lunar Beacon: "Hmm . . . it would appear I'll have to revise my opinions
of magic after spending the day with you, friend Aiden!" He grinned
cheerfully as he clapped the man on the shoulder. "Until now, I didn't hold
it in too high of a regard.
The Lunar Beacon: Quite glad I was able to meet you this day."
Tesarik One: She hurried through. Of course, now they'd have to go and find
the nearest Port Union in Kullyr and get back to Maria. But, she'd given them
a token to use since she had no idea where they'd end up. Cherith in fact,
had the token in
Tesarik One: her belt pouch. "It has come in handy. Where is Kyle?" She
looked around, making sure he was with them.
a merciful edge: He was with them! Just being quiet, looking at that ring
and trying to figure out what it did, since the lock had been taken care of.
Noble Artificer: An artificer is a very useful person to have around,::he
gave a nod with a small grin.::Broken objects can be mended, magic items can
be inspected to tell what sort of magic it is.
Tesarik One: And, they'd find a Port Union in the nearest town, a few hours
away. A farmer gave them a ride into town on the back of his wagon. The token
allowed them free passage back to Navahla. The end.
a merciful edge: "I'm right here, nothing to be worried about!" He had heard
the question, of course. Now he was catching up since he'd fallen behind a
bit! Oops.

It
hasn't been used recently, and could be pretty dangerous, but Maria has asked
for just a

actually holds treasure, what sort of place it is, and if it's worth sending

a merciful edge: Well, yep.

"Greetings to you.
The Lunar Beacon: Ser Brendan Pearce, at your service." He gestured to
Cherith, extending the introductions to her as well. "The Lady Cherith
Mourne d'Avilon. Good to meet you." And through the portal he went,
unhindered at all in his movements

himself a cheery little tune.
It would hurt a lot less for everyone else
if the heaviest one of the group didn't fall on the rest of them on the way
down. He lit up
The Lunar Beacon: his lantern and started to scramble on down, the lantern
secured to his weapon's belt.

could fit into it. (Roll a Spot once you're down - Cherith & Brendan)

light push causes the rocks to fall down.
Once
they were through, she took to her hands and knees and began to crawl as
well.
Noble Artificer: :::Well when they went through he was dropping on down
landing in that crouch, shifting a bit he was ducking down and crawled on
through as well:: *D
Noble Artificer: ::He glanced around then back forward tilting his head a
bit.::
He eyed the torches,
considering lighting

two mountain
Tesarik One: peaks behind it. With a little more digging, both lead to
passages hidden beneath the rubble. Which one will you take?
Tesarik One: She traced the glyph, trying to just use common sense, as she
stared at one, then the other. "Well.... I'm not sure what it means, but they
both seem to represent some sort of path. One to sunlight, one to mountains?"
Noble Artificer: ::He tilted his head glancing between the two glyphs, hand
raised rubbing his jawline.::
a merciful edge: Hm.

Tesarik One: area, with bits of bedrolls, old fire pits, dusty empty
waterskins and the like.

a merciful edge: (Counter attack!)
Tesarik One: Go for it.
The Lunar Beacon: He studied the creature quietly, watching how it moved,
looking to see if there was a weakness to it that he could point out while he
busied himself with maintaining his prayer to Leaxo and keeping Cherith safe.
a merciful edge: It did look comical. Made him snicker, anyway. He still had
the grin on as he danced out of the way of the possessed clothing, then gave
it a good couple of slashes. Those boots looked as good as the ones he had
on, though. Hm. He
a merciful edge: hadn't put on his new magic boots yet!

Noble Artificer: (Can I keep my first rol?)
Noble Artificer: (10)
The Lunar Beacon: He was apparently much too concerned with Cherith to
notice anything of importance, and tried to put a bit more concentration into
searching about this time.
Tesarik One: She was looking around, digging with her boot into the dirt,
moving rocks, and trying to see if ti was just all garbage around.
a merciful edge: He wasn't really putting much effort into digging around,
mostly just seeing if anything was out in the open.
Tesarik One: Ok... First search, everyone but Brendan found something. So,
Aiden, Cherith, Kyle - roll 1d15

Tesarik One: Brendan you got 5 Sunrods.
The Lunar Beacon: Sunrods . . . very useful items. He scooped them up and
placed two in his belt pouch, handing 1 to each other person there. "These
could come in handy, hang onto them."
Tesarik One: Ok everyone..... since Cherith has the skill "Treasure Hunter"
I will let you all roll once more on either the first list (magic stuff) or
second list (gold, gems, other stuff)
The Lunar Beacon: (Magic list for me, please)
Noble Artificer: (ill go first list)
OnlineHost: The Lunar Beacon rolled 1 15-sided die: 14
OnlineHost: Noble Artificer rolled 1 15-sided die: 4
Noble Artificer: ( ::Stares;:: )
Tesarik One: Roll again lol
The Lunar Beacon: (Like them 4's do ya?)
a merciful edge: He held that cloak up to himself, then looked down at his
rather shabby old cloak. Well, if he could get it recolored it'd be very
nice! He tucked it away into his pack, then looked for more stuff.
OnlineHost: a merciful edge rolled 1 15-sided die: 13

Noble Artificer: (Bring on the ebil werebunnies)
Tesarik One: Kyle you got a Ring of Regeneration. Once per day you can heal
yourself of all damage.
Tesarik One: and Cherith you got 2000gp & 3 gems
OnlineHost: Tesarik One rolled 3 100-sided dice: 40 45 81
a merciful edge: (Oh sorry, for log purposes I had decided in IM to roll on
the first list!)
The Lunar Beacon: (Only a 14)
The Lunar Beacon: (+5 from the adamantine)
Tesarik One: Not enough to break the lock, or the gate!
Noble Artificer: ::He had gathered the items then was moving and tilted his
head seeing the gate and smiled at the swing.::You know there might be
another easier way to do this.
Noble Artificer: Please step aside.
Tesarik One: She moved aside, and watched.
a merciful edge: Well he'd sure try and help break the lock. ALthough
apparently Aiden had a better idea.
Noble Artificer: ::He walked up shouldering the staff, the bow already over
his shoulder as he examined the gate. Gloved hand raised and he simply
knocked on the lock.::
Noble Artificer: [Spell: Knock - Target: locked gate - Spell Type: Effect -
Save: DM Choice, Duration: N/A]
The Lunar Beacon: He did indeed step out of the way, studying the blade
quietly as he leaned against the wall.
Now he was catching up since he'd fallen behind a
bit! Oops.
