Tesarik One: You will all get 5 extra xp for this quest due to our special
going on this week.
Tesarik One: Tonight's quest takes us to the frozen islands of the Skegg
Islands. Two semi-retired adventurers, Jared and Ouida, have retired to the
main island of Svartur and have been trying to bring some life to an
abandoned farm they found
Tesarik One: near the main river in northern Svartur (the largest island of
the Skeggs). They've worked with Maria in the past, and so when they found
an ancient crypt on their land, they sent word to her to send some Heart
members to check it
Tesarik One: out. Perhaps it is related to the Five Masters that the Heart
seeks, and beyond that they certainly don't want a crypt full of potential
undead to take over the hard work on the farm they've claimed. Maria, in all
her Blackfeather
Tesarik One: knowledge, has also sent word to two individuals presently
residing on the Skegg Islands - Astrid & Sigurd - and they have been asked to
meet our small group and lead them to this abandoned area in Svartur. The
portal opens, a chill
Tesarik One: breeze and scents of the cold sea blow out of it, a road rarely
used on the other side where Astrid and Sigurd await them. (Begin RP)
of the heavens: Having moved to Alzorc just recently, Evangeline was still
getting used to the chilly weather. She'd not been used to it enough,
evidently... as seen by the little start on the petite healer's shoulders
upon stepping through. The
Sigurd Druknede: Well, this would be Astrid's final test, in his book, to
make sure she was fit to get back to her old life. If she could handle a
proper quest without getting worn out or too injured, that was good enough
for him. He was all geared
Sigurd Druknede: up, as he tended to be. Armor under all that fur intended
to keep him from freezing to death, sword and axe at his belt, bow and quiver
on his back. He wasn't particularly looking forward to meeting more of the
people from that gang
scales change: Skegg Islands.. not a place he'd ventured to before.. Kullyr
may well have been as far north as the Black Knight usually cared to venture
these days. The chill of the Slipknot Tundra bore little difference to this
far as the Half-
Relic of Enmity: Astrid was a little nervous about being tested in such a
way, with strangers around her. A lot had changed in her over the length of
time she'd been healing in the Skeggs, but she still felt very wary around
strangers; especially
Sigurd Druknede: Maria ran, considering the few he had met. Oh well.
of the heavens: soft-blue robed aasimar stepped her way through with an easy
smile and gentle eyes (despite the jump). She'd stepped through with a newly
recognized face, Kythin, and given her relatively recent grasp on the gift of
sight found
Relic of Enmity: non-Zorcans. She was ready as she could be though, and
healed up enough that even the burns on her face were not seen unless someone
looked a little too hard in bright light. She was just human after all, she
had the scars of her
scales change: Plate clad dragonblood was considered.. not that he even felt
it.. felt quite the comfortable seventy or so degrees to him. Still the

bring the healer
of the heavens: herself relatively amused in finally seeing what the
'dragon' looked like. When she saw the pair across the way, the smile didn't'
hinder by even a twitch. "Hello." Pleasant thing, that girl. -d-
Relic of Enmity: hard life. The undead had been a nuisance of late, but
nothing that she and Sigurd could not handle. But to work again with the
Heart, she could only assume that word would eventually get to Fenris that
she was indeed alive, and
scales change: that had accompanied from their mutual starting part in the
form of the Maria's inne. " ... Try not to be abducted this time hm? " Ah,
yes he remembered the last time he'd seen the healer.. and proved quick to
berate over it.. least
Relic of Enmity: well. When the two stepped through, she held a cool
expression upon her face and gave a curt nod, then turned and began to move
along the old, worn path. It had not begun to snow yet, but there was an
autumn chill in the air.
Sigurd Druknede: He grunted a response to the greeting from the healer, then
gave a little clap to Astrid's shoulder. He'd done enough leading around that
she ought to know her way around about as well as he did now, and
well..that'd just be another
scales change: the tone was somewhere between jest and seriousness. Well
there were Zorcans about.. enough to set his attention elsewhere..
considering his less than positive run-ins with one of the more infamous
specimens of that nation known to
Sigurd Druknede: part of her test! See how well she led around a bunch of
strangers. Well..a pair of them, at any rate.
of the heavens: Eva heard Kythin and slid her eyes his way, grinning in a
playful way. "Then protect me right this time." She looked back to the
Zorcans then tipped her head.. watching them nod, grunt and walk on. Yes..
this was definitely the
Tesarik One: The path stretched across the chilled land, trees already
having lost all leaves looking like skeletons stretching towards the overcast
sky. The warm sun was not something that brightened the life of the Skeggans
except rarely, so
of the heavens: North. Pursing her lips just so, she followed after, tucking
her hands and arms in her cloak the best she could -d-
Tesarik One: overcast it would be today. The sound of rushing water could be
heard nearby as the river dug it's bed through the Skeggan countryside. A
large bridge of ancient masonry awaited them far down the path, they could
just see the
scales change: the Heart. A brow rose at Evangeline's comeback.. earning the
slight female a grin. " Taking after that bard of yours are we? Adorable. "
-d
Tesarik One: graceful yet bedraggled crumbling stone bridge in the distance.
Relic of Enmity: She'd spent enough time on this island at least to know her
way around quite easily. Though the northern portion of the island wasn't
somewhere she'd gone very often, they had to fight some undead pretty
recently in this direction
of the heavens: "Minstrel." A single word to correct him. Looking ahead, at
least as much as she could given the towering frames of Zorcans infront of
her, Eva saw some of the stone bridge. Given the topic of recent outbreaks
Arith-over had Eva
Relic of Enmity: mainly because the area was dotted with ancient crypts and
graveyards that had long been abandoned. She could only assume that these
adventurers they were heading to meet had found another such abandoned and
ancient crypt. She

of the heavens: focusing a small bit on her healing energies as they walked.
Better safe than sorry, no? (Skill: Healing Hands - +8 to healing points = 94
) -d-
Tesarik One: Noted.
Sigurd Druknede: Yes, finding another one of those crypts would be the most
likely scenario! He wasn't terribly concerned about it all, they'd dealt with
some undead already. More wouldn't hurt. He listened to the needless chatter
from the others as
Sigurd Druknede: they walked. Hopefully they wouldn't get ambushed because
some enemies heard them coming a mile away! He kept his eyes peeled just in
case.
Tesarik One: The trail takes a sudden dive, then levels out into a brief
stretch of cobblestones. Beyond that rises a bridge of flaking stone that
spans a wide river in a single, low arch. The span's center seems
Tesarik One: just high enough to block the view of the bridge's opposite
end. The stonework is well weathered. The roadway is clear except for a few
leafless branches of overhanging trees. The air is cold and
Tesarik One: moist, and dark green moss clings to the bridge's sides.
Tesarik One: Below the bridge, the river runs dark and swift, burbling like
a pot just beginning to simmer. The force of the river has built up what
looks like a sandbar against one end of the bridge. The
Tesarik One: sandbar fills half the river's channel and extends upstream
about as far as a bow's shot. A tangle of brush and reeds covers the sandbar
and both sides of the river, but the path to the bridge is clear.

OnlineHost: ascending aria has entered the room.
Tesarik One: Eva can hear the gurgling noises but can't make out any words.
Tesarik One: State to Add.
Sigurd Druknede: Hm. Cries of help and gurgling? Sounded like someone was
drowning. Without a word, he took off at a run for the bridge to see if he
could spot where the noise was coming from, and therefore see if it was
reasonable that he might be
Sigurd Druknede: able to get a closer look.

sporting those cries and gurgling.. the latter he suspected likely involved
victims not capable of voicing their cries... about water. " Be wary, healer.
You'll have folks to
of the heavens: Eva noticed Sigurd running off a scant second before she
picked up the gurgling sound. She took off after him!
Relic of Enmity: Astrid was too busy looking around or caught in her own

actions of those around her, she took off into a run to catch up with her
mentor and friend, to see what

Sigurd Druknede: "Someone yelling for help down there. Going to see if I can
get down there and assist, or if it's not possible." Replied in Zorcan, of
course!
Tesarik One: Oh it was not difficult to see what was happening at all when
they got close. A halfing and a juvenile dragon engaged in combat it seemed,
beneath the bridge on the sandbar. The halfling is seen staggering backwards,
gagging and
Tesarik One: choking. The white dragon then seized the halfling in her jaws
right as the halfling noticed that there were others around. He immediately
called out, "Help, please!" Struggling in the dragon's jaws, he cried out,
"Argggh!! Hurry!!
ascending aria: Ophelia had recently been indisposed and so, had not
ventured out with the Heart for quite some time! That was all going to change
today, although, she was quite late. Fortunately she had made it to the
portal before it closed, and
Tesarik One: You can get him if you *urk* close in now and go for it
together! He's just breathed! ARGGGGGHHH! We'll *ack* split the treasure!"
of the heavens: She had no clue what was being said, aside from what came
out of Kythin's mouth--but she knew panicked sounds when she heard them. Eva
tried to find a spot that gave her a better view of the situation. Upon
seeing, she gasped and
of the heavens: immediately looked to those in her company.. y'know, the
ones with the swords and such! -d-
ascending aria: managed to get through with little pains. It was probably
the huff and the puff of her running down to meet the group, making sure not
to fall over was her biggest obstacle! " Phew.. oh my.. " What a sight to
come upon, on her first
scales change: Kythin clicked his tongue.. taking in the scene with a bit
less concern for the halfling than one might consider. Sure the mention of
treasure got his attention.. but so to did the dragon. " tepohair diwhaf,

ascending aria: venture! " .. you related? " Pointed from Kythin to the
Dragon with a halfling stuck in her teeth.
Sigurd Druknede: "Hm." He took a brief look around for a better position,
then moved to get an angle, pulling his bow off of his back and stringing it
as he did, then producing an arrow from the quiver, just so he'd be ready.
Eyes shifted to Astrid,
Sigurd Druknede: then. "What do you say?"
Tesarik One: The white dragon tilted it's head as eyes went towards Kythin
hearing the speak in draconic and would have smiled had the dragon not had a
halfling in it's jaws.
Relic of Enmity: "We must help, and hurry. The small thing is a mere bite."
She was ready and pulling her weapon, moving along the side of the river to
crash through the vegetation to get down to the sandbar. She would waste no
time in getting down
Relic of Enmity: to that dragon!
scales change: Well couldn't quite fault the wyrmling for having a bit of
fun with a would-be meal. After all the warm halfling wouldn't be quite so
fun to play with once it started eating. The appearance of Ophelia and her
comment drew the Spell-
Sigurd Druknede: He nodded, then drew that arrow back, wasting no time in
sending it down at the dragon, though he didn't aim for the head so as to
avoid hitting the halfling on accident.

to fight melee you need to get down to the sandbar. This will take
Tesarik One: an Athletics Check of DC15 to climb down to the sandbar through

Relic of Enmity: Once the door was open, Astrid moved through the doorway
into the cold, damp area. She wasn't really affected by the cold but slippery
wasn't fun. She took one of the torches and down she went moving forward.
of the heavens: Trying her best to keep pace, Evangeline walked along with
the lot of them.. catching up in time to receive one of the torches offered
her. "Have you been down in the crypt yourself?" Speaking to the Jared. She'd
wait to let some of
of the heavens: the others move down first before following suit. -d-
Tesarik One: Down the passageway they'd go, those that went down that is,
until you find the end and there is a hole the size of a large shield in the
far wall. Peeking in reveals somewhat the same as had been in the crypt
they'd found near
Tesarik One: the OH Inne. Rows and rows of dead bodies, some mummified, some
skeletal. It was very dusty, and moldy but it looked like nothing had passed
this way in ages. Nothing was disturbed, but the mass of bodies, and
Ophelia's map would
Sigurd Druknede: He couldn't help but wonder why someone would come on a
mission involving a crypt and not be willing to go intot he crypt, but oh
well. He took a torch in one hand, the other tugging Fenja from his belt just
so he'd have the axe
Sigurd Druknede: ready if need be.
Tesarik One: tell them this was definitely a crypt to keep an eye on. Jared
shook his head, "Only just peeked through the wall. Was going to fix the hole
but saw a symbol on the wall I remmbered back from my
Tesarik One: adventuring days and got in touch with Maria."
of the heavens: A symbol on the wall? Well, that had Eva looking for it!
Relic of Enmity: She used the torch to see in, noting the symbol that the
man said he'd seen, as well as the piles of dust. She saw all the dead bodies
in various states of decay as well, and wrinkled her nose. She whispered in
Zorcan to Sigurd,
Relic of Enmity: "This is a disaster in the making."
scales change: " ... A symbol? " Considering that Kythin looked to the
nearest surface with dust or the like that he could 'draw' with. Why?
'Drawing' out the symbol of the Five he'd procurred from a certain black
magic abusing goblin. " This
scales change: symbol perhaps? " -d
Tesarik One: The symbol had been seen in any other crypt of the Five
Masters, an odd rune only associated with the Five and necromancy.
Tesarik One: "Yes, that's it."
ascending aria: Ophelia had not known about the crypt before arriving
through the portal, only that there was something going on! Though, she
probably should have guessed. While they were all in the aforementioned
chamber, she stayed alert above
ascending aria: ground.
scales change: " Theres likely a necromancer within then.. "
Sigurd Druknede: "It certainly seems that way." Responded in Zorcan as he
eyed all the bodies. Well, they could always just remove them all.
Disassemble them and whatnot. That'd certainly make it more difficult to
raise them.
Tesarik One: "Shit." Jared's shoulders slumped. "I'm getting too old for
necromancers."
of the heavens: With the respect she held for the dead, from her own Zyonian
customs, the mass grave was a small bit upsetting for Eva. It was enough to
drop her smile down to something of a straight face, for once. The mention of
a necromancer
scales change: " I wish Dunsany could have said the same. " But that was a
bit of wishful thinking on his part. How easy it was to tire of the undead
when you had to find them.. ALOT. -d
Relic of Enmity: Astrid made her way back out, and when she saw the symbol
drawn by Kythin she pointed down into the cellar. "I could see that symbol on
the wall, but as far as I can tell nothing's been disturbed in there in a
long while."
scales change: " These necromancers are centuries old.. it matters little if
nothing has been disturbed.. " -d
of the heavens: sent her mind down an avenue of thoughts, none of which tied
in here. Dragging her mind back to the current issue, she asked. "... what
about burning them?" If there was worry of them being raised and all. -d-
Relic of Enmity: "Ahh. Well, I would consider this an issue then. Will you
bring the message to your employer?" She certainly did not wish to travel to
Sarkotos again if she didn't have to. Alzorc maybe...that's about it.
Relic of Enmity: "We could burn them, but we risk awakening them if we move
into the place or any manner of other traps that are set. So we must be
prepared, and perhaps even a little more manpower."
Tesarik One: "Perhaps Maria will send a larger group to clear it out soon,
as long as they stay dead we'll be just fine." He waited for everyone to get
out of the cellar and then shut and locked and barred it again. "Well,
Ouida's got a fine
scales change: " I represent Dunsany interests, not that the Heart. " He
jerked his head towards Ophelia. Indicating the bard could pass the message
on. -d
scales change: that of the Heart*
Tesarik One: meal planned, and plenty of mead and Skeggan whiskey to be
had."
of the heavens: Eva nodded to Astrid, staring back off at the horrible sight
of rotting bodies. "I will be returning to the Inne tonight. I can relay the
message to Maria." Her eyes followed over to Kythin, then towards Ophelia.
-d-
Relic of Enmity: Dunsany? Where had she heard that before? She could not
read, so it was not from a book, but perhaps from stories told around the
campfire. She nodded to Eva. "Good then."
Tesarik One: Mission accomplished. You all may sup with the NPC's if you
wish, whether you keep rping or not, and Maria has a portal ready back across
the bridge.
ascending aria: That was something Ophelia was not aware of and so, she
arched a brow slightly at the Dragon. She was about to say something when Eva
spoke, so she waited before saying: " I need to see Maria about my map, I
guess. " [d]
Tesarik One: ^v^ 10/23/2013 12:03:32 AM ^v^
of the heavens: Having heard Ophelia, Eva figured the message would be well
delivered by her, and so nodded. Her smile resumed then, sent about to the
others before she outright vanished in to thin air. Ahhh, the perks of a
teleportation ring! -d-
OnlineHost: of the heavens has left the room.
OnlineHost: occult liege has left the room.
Sigurd Druknede: He'd sure stay and have supper! He wasn't leaving the Skegg
Islands right at that moment anyway.
ascending aria: Phe didn't want to eat above a crypt of undead, so she went
back on through the portal and home, to her nice safe cottage!
scales change: He'd return through the portal as well.. had to deal with
passing a halfling corpse to a shire or something. And bother his bard. -d
Sigurd Druknede: Poor halfling.
scales change: [ poor druid he throws the corpse at. ]
Sigurd Druknede: Defiling corpses is how you get angry ghosts!
scales change: Ghostbane had work ahead no doubt.
