Quest Name: Weeding (Not What You Think!)
Quest DM: J - iyieldtonone
Quest Time: Sunday, August 10th, 3PM Est to 6PM Est
Quest Difficulty: 1 - Recruit Level (Only Crystal and Topaz Ranked Characters Allowed)
Quest Description: A goblin owned venture company is meeting some... resistance from the local... community. Resistance is a somewhat subjective term, but in this case it includes various creatures of the forest who aren't too happy about the venture's current plan to harvest the local trees. NW has been contracted to... subdue the local community's activities against the venture.
Please see the below rules for my quests. Direct any questions to iyieldtonone!
I have created the below rules to help ensure that my quests go as smoothly as possible and in a timely manner, while also creating an environment of consequences, emotions, layered realism, difficulty and adventure. They are open for other OH DMs to use in part or as a whole. If you don’t like any of the below rules I completely understand and respect your opinion, however, they are the rules I use for my OH quests.
Depending on the type of quest not all of the below rules will be used as they may not be relevant.

- As the DM I’m not going to try and murder your characters. However, I will try to challenge them, make them feel emotions and put them in situations that hopefully allow you to delve into their personalities and poke around on how to make them more complex and detailed.
- In regard to #1, while I won’t be out to murder every character on my quests, I’m not going to protect them either. Regardless of the Quest Level my adventures will be treated as elite instances that represent a scene/situation, mission/assignment, set of choices and more. They are meant to be difficult and depending on how you play your character could have deadly consequences.
- With #1 and #2 stated, all of my quests will be on the harder side of the difficulty range in regard to the mobs and DCs. Certain quests will be meant to be funny and will consist of different elements, such quests will ignore this rule.
- Unless otherwise stated each of my quests will be limited to 5 characters. To avoid any feelings of being left out, favoritism or dislike the sign up is a first come first serve situation (I will not link people in IMs). I will open the room 10 minutes before the quest is suppose to begin and will close it 15 minutes after if no one or not enough people show up.
- All players are limited to one full AOL room post for their turn. I’m sorry to those that like to RP a few posts (or more) but to try and complete the quest in it’s entirety, and as designed, something has to give. If your RP goes over into a second post by a few words or line because of OH stat information then that is fine.
- Most if not all of my text will be prewritten, including but not limited to, scenery descriptions, maps, mob attacks, loot descriptions, etc. Some attacks may be reused depending on how long the fight goes. I will use the concept of Threat Generation in my quests. 1 Point of Damage = 1 Point of Threat. The character that does the most damage to a mob in a round (the highest amount of threat) will be that mob’s target when it is that mob’s turn to attack. This is being done to avoid a situation where it is felt I’m targeting specific characters for any reason. It is also being done to support a sense of realism in mass combat. At the beginning of each quest a question will be asked, it will go something like this: “Does anyone here wish to have their character play the role of Tank tonight?” If/when a character is chosen to be a tank their threat is still 1 to 1, however, their threat becomes an area of effect to try and draw as many mobs onto them as possible. At this time healers won’t produce threat as OH healing rules don’t really support the concept.
- All loot will be randomly generated at the end of the quest using the OH Loot Rolls. The results will be logged and sent with the quest log for validation.
- Have fun. If you don’t like me, my quests or the above rules that is perfectly ok. You can even tell me, it won’t hurt my feelings, but then don’t put your character into my quests. OH is meant to be fun and the above rules are for me to have fun while also providing, what I feel, to be a great and fun environment.
