Fizzwinken Gadgetcracker's Gyro-Blender Event! /CLOSED

A rather amazing contraption sits outside of the Obsidian Heart Inne, looking very much like an oversized tea kettle on wheels! The gnome inventor, Fizzwinken Lugburt Gadgetcracker came into town pushing it along with a bit of effort. Fizzwinken has been given permission from Maria to set up outside the inne. As you approach the tap room's door, he calls out to you,

"Ahh yes, intrepid adventurers the lot of you aye? Lookee what Fizzwinken's got here, come up with it in me own laboratory, took me YEARS to build yes indeedly YEARS! Introducing the Gyroscopic Blending Retroknitter Adaptation Booster! Look at it, isn't it a beauty? Long name, yes, yes, so we'll just call it the Gyro-Blender."

A pause, as he allows you to look over his contraption.

"What does the Amazing Gyro-Blender do? My dear, it blends, knits and adapts whatever you toss into it, completely rebuilding it into something EVEN BETTER!! Well, most of the time. Sometimes it just spits out a pile of broken parts. But, that's the thing with technology right?"

He opens up the tea kettle like area and motions.

"Just toss your pieces in there, and after a little bit it pops out something right in the middle here. C'mon, give it a try! Just 3,000 gold coins, a drop in the bucket for a wealthy adventurer! And it's not as if you won't find more treasure down the road, if it screws up, right-o?"

Here's the deal! This event will not last forever! When Fizzwinken heads out of town, you won't have the opportunity to use his machine until he decides to come back into town!

You may toss two items into the Gyro-Blender for 3,000gp. For guaranteed success it costs 6,000gp.

Before anything else is done, a plain d20 roll will be made by Fizzwinken for "Use Object". If a "1" is rolled, then whatever you have dropped into the machine is mangled beyond repair and lost forever (no you may not use Stitch in Time to fix it, it is utterly destroyed). Fizzwinken, feeling very sorry for you, will give you back your 3,000 gold.

If you'd like a guaranteed success, then you can pay 6,000gp and Fizzwinken will spend extra time to ensure that an actual item of use is created. "Use Object" is considered a success.

Choose two items you own. Toss them into the Gyro-Blender and see what comes out! No two items the same! If you wish to add a third item, it has to be completely mundane such as a dagger, pair of shoes, a cloak, a belt, a plain gemstone.

NOTE: If you pay 3,000gp I will roll dice on the message board, if I roll a 1 you lose both items for good but get back your gold. It's a risk!


LIMITS: You may use the Gyro-Blender once per character. If you have your items destroyed, then you may try again with other items if you wish until you actually have a creation.

TERMS: Go to the event page and reply, on your reply you must roleplay out your use of the machine, stating very clearly at the top your character name, your screen name, and how much gold you are spending. YOU MUST HAVE THE GOLD. Then post EXACTLY what you are tossing into the machine, I want full descriptions and even worth if you know it.

Maka heard the gnome's calls for people to drop things in, so she decided what the hell, she'd try it out too. She waited for her turn then headed up and made the arrangements for money, 3000gp, and then pulled her Gauntlets of Extended Range off her hands, and pulled her privateer pistol (1d6) out from her belt. She then pulled the longsword she'd had stashed somewhere out of the cloth she had around it, and each item was dropped in.

"Gnome, let's hope it doesn't ruin everything."

Rohdle had been in the area as he had just come into town, needing to replace his armor as he had decided it was time to move on from the dragonhide that he had been wearing. Seeing the gnome though in front of Maria's inn, and how he was calling for people a slight brow was lifted, and knowing Maria it was probably best to check it out to see just what was happening. Coming to stop by the group that had been gathering he looked at the things they'd been putting in as well as getting back, so waiting he then dropped a few things in. Placing inside one of his short swords followed by the only other two items he had on him, besides his weapons. A simple coral gemstone followed by a wand of lightening. Once done he let his eyes lift to the gnome as he narrowed them slightly, watching the man, not in any evil or ill intent way, but more studing just what he was doing and contemplating what might happen in the end.

These bows, first made by elves, have been crafted to stand up to melee combat. Unlike swordbows, they are wooden and remain a bow at all times, but they are of a dense and hardened wood, thicker and heavier than a normal bow and can be wielded like a quarterstaff doing bludgeoning damage. You can freely change from melee to ranged each round. Magical enhancements effect it as one weapon, but if the enchantment is only for ranged weapons you cannot use that enchantment while wielding it in melee combat, and vice versa.

Any adaptation given protects only against the hazards of the plane itself, not the creatures within it—fire attacks from creatures on the Plane of Fire are still hazardous to the bearer. The crystal doesn't provide protection against extreme conditions not normally experienced by inhabitants of the given plane, such as the vacuum of space on the Material Plane.

Warren had been here and there. The little fairy visiting the inn as he had heard about a possible quest coming up that could use his skills, and as he drew closer to the inn he saw the gnome working to get people attention. Flying up to him flew right up to the odd looking comtraption and leaned over, peeking inside and smiling wide. So strange! He'd just seen his first steamwork type thing not long ago and now there was another!

"Ooooo! I want to try!"

So curious about what it did he didn't even think about it a second as he quickly took his precious bow and tossed it inside and then dug around in his pouch and pulled out the first item he found, a sex of Nexus Crystals that he'd gotten not to long ago. Tossing them right in with the bow he then looked up to the gnome, beaming a wide smile while he wiggled there in the air, curious and excited to see just what came from the items he put in there.

"Make me something pretty!"

The fairy to curious to really think about the possible loss of his only weapon, or the fact that he was nearly out of gold to boot, but such is the case when something interesting was around. (Invoking Curious Flaw, sense normally I wouldn't take the chance with him in his current gold/weapon situation. Lol.)

Having heard about the visitor courtesy of her glamorous assistant, Arcabelle was soon tootling around outside the Obsidian Heart Inne, peering at this curiously serendipitous device and watching as others dropped in mundane items and pulled out useful treasures. She did not - yet - have anything to offer the machine, but she could be found examining it up and down, left and right, leaning in closely but abstaining from direct physical contact. That would just be rude.

She knew that she could not recreate such a device unless she had permission to rip it apart herself .. and that was never going to happen! If this Mr. Gadgetcracker was a tinkergnome worth his salt, he would part with the schematics over his dead body: or perhaps hers. And so she would mentally drool over this giant teakettle on wheels for the duration of his visit, the not so small cogs of her own brain churning out future possibilities. Whenever she thought he wasn't looking, she'd whip out her arcane tablet and jot down a few notes; offering a large toothy and oh so innocent smile should he glance over, one tinkerer to another!

She slipped amidst the crowd, cowl pulled low over her face to shield sensitive eyes and skin from the glare of the sun as she in turn, glared over at the spectacle taking place in front of the Obsidian Heart Inne. Though she felt the vague itch at the tip of her fingers with so many coin purses being flung about, she kept her focus on the gnome and his contraption: observing carefully what items were brought forward, and what was removed. It intrigued her, and she squashed down that voice of warning until it was naught more than a murmur and stepped forward once the crowd had dispersed a little. The rumors had spread far, and so she had gathered a few items that she felt could produce something beneficial - while two she did use on a regular basis, one she had yet to find a use for, but if applied to the first .. the potential brought a curl to her lips. Wordlessly, she unwrapped her items and produced them one after the other, an eyebrow arching beneath her cowl that would be sufficient warning to the gnome that it would not bode well if he failed to grant her anything of worth.

Initially a static longsword designed for basic melee attacks, the right movements allow it to unlock into a bladed whip that can curve and extend to attack enemies as an extension of the user, before contracting back into a sword.

Cloak of Peace [Back] This heavy purple woolen cloak is old and worn, but still wearable. It does not detect as magical in the slightest, but once it is worn, the wearer only will detect a small pouch of holding within the lining of the cloak. The pouch of holding is only big enough for one weapon (or one extra loot slot), but once the weapon or item is inside even if the weapon or item is magical it still is non-detectable as anything being magical about the cloak.

This blade has the ability to shift from a longsword into a bladed whip that curves and extends to strike out at the bearer's enemies; the right movement easily shifts it back into a solid blade form. The hilt of this blade appears to be a deep purplish snakeskin. It is as slippery as a serpent when it comes to hiding itself, for to anyone that the owner wishes, it simply appears as a mundane snakeskin hanging from their hip; a macabre trinket from a kill perhaps. No amount of magic detects this blade as being anything but the simple snakeskin. Fizzwinken's Pauldron-Cape of Sorcerous Power +5 DEF
These dark leather pauldrons are embroidered with arcane sigils and mystic designs and fit firmly over the shoulders of a mage, and attached to the pauldrons is a half cape that covers one arm of a thick, rich scarlet silk. Along the edges of the red cape are also stitched with various arcane runes, giving the item it's power. Not only does this item protect with defense, but it adds a +2 to the dice of any invocation that the wearer uses that deals hit point damage. Once per combat, the wearer can draw out more of it's innate magical power to cast an extra spell in combat, when it is used the cape flutters with it's own magical wind.

Everyone dies as an adventurer, don't they? Well, it's not a problem with the Ghostripper. This amulet is in the shape of a howling wolf's head, all you need now is a rezz coin to shove inside the opened maw. While there is a rezz coin in place it first attempts to keep you from dying by giving you 10 hit points. If you still end up dead, it howls menacingly to those that would pull your spirit away, ripping your ghost from the claws of the afterlife and tucking it safely back inside your body. It works three times before you must replace the spent rezz coin.

1. Insectbane Candle: This heavily scented candle smells pleasant to humans and humanoids but is repellent to insects. Non-monstrous vermin will not approach within a 5-foot radius of a burning candle. It burns for 1 hour.

2. Stonemelt Powder (one use): A pouch of stonemelt powder comes in an obsidian container that holds one application of the magic dust. Stonemelt powder is quite heavy and granular, and it is warm to the touch. A single dose of the powder can be spread over a 5-foot-square area; applying the powder takes up your turn. Stonemelt powder is useless unless it is placed upon a stone surface (either worked or natural). One round after the powder is placed, it bonds with the stone and causes it to melt rapidly, but not instantly, into lava.
All creatures in the affected area are allowed an acrobatics saving throw (DC20) to reach safety before the lava fully forms, provided they also move out of the area. These creatures take 2d6 points of fire damage. For the next three rounds they take 1d6 points of fire damage per round. A creature that fails its save or cannot flee becomes mired in the lava. Creatures mired in the lava sink until hip- or chest-deep, reducing their speed to 5 feet and giving them -2 penalties on attack rolls and Defense DC10. Creatures large enough to walk on the bottom can wade through the area at a speed of 5 feet. Any creature mired in the lava takes 4d6 points of fire damage per round. This damage continues for an additional three rounds once the creature is free of the lava, but the damage is halved, 2d6.
Stonemelt powder can horribly damage stone creatures or objects of Large or smaller size. The creature or object must make an Endurance save (DC20) when sprayed with stonemelt powder or take 4d6 points of fire damage per round for three rounds, starting 1 round after the initial application. A successful Endurance save halves this damage. Any creature in contact with or struck by the melting object or creature takes 2d6 points of fire damage.

3. Thick Winter Scarf: Made of Spidersilk, the very long scarf can be used as rope. Or to keep warm!

Dorian, well..Dorian had a bunch of crap lying around, and he really wanted to test this thing out. What better way than to take three random things he wasn't using anyway and toss them in? So in went a pouch, a candle, and a scarf. He then gave Fizzwinken a 'let's see what you do with that look.

Endless water is useful, but what of endless blessings? Shitha's blessing has fallen upon this lowly flask of water, and has imbued the water with vitamins and minerals for energy and super-hydration! Not only that, but once per adventure you can sip from the Flask of Endless Blessings and gain a full heal, a cure disease, or regrow a lost limb (or all three if one person needs it all!). A rune bearing the name of Shitha has been carved on the front of this flask.

Fizzwinken's Multi-Function Citronellan Scarf
This 15 foot spidersilk scarf is slightly less pliable than it was before, but when worn it repels mundane, non-monstrous vermin allowing the wearer to be mosquito and bug free. It has many uses, one of which is that of a 15 foot spidersilk rope. It's slightly waxy nature allows it to be stuck to walls, mountain sides, and uneven ground, forming natural stone handholds making climbing easy! It can be tossed onto a a liquid surface, where it floats across the top and makes a solid stone pathway across whatever it is you have need to cross. Bubbling lava? No problem. Wet rocky stream? First, the pants come out clean! But these pants are now transformed into an amazing clothing item. These trousers protect from simple, mundane diseases as well as allow you to pass with ease through dense undergrowth. No matter the environment, you remain at a comfortable temperature, and even if you're in the middle of nowhere without a bite to eat, no worries, your pants keep you sated with life-giving nourishment.
